The side quests have no barring on the main quest, as far as I've seen. The companion quests do alter some things, though, but I never consider those side quests.

I thought Dorian would like some some bizarre upper-lip fiasco without his stash and soul patch, but he's actually still quite attractive.
Does not the amount of "influence" you got affect the sucsess of the ending? Whats the point of it then?
I tried..... i tried to play as a female elf/human so i wouldn't romance dorian, i never finished those games, as soon as i get dorian i think damn, and restart as a male....

That's just for the perks. They moved away from ME:3's galactic readiness and just have it as a "You get influence for perks! The end!"
Now, those perks do change up the ending a tiny bit. When Morrigan gives the epilogue, she'll say what the Inquisition has the most power in: Military, Spying, or Diplomacy. So depending on the perks you pick could change the ending a little.
Note: I'm fairly certain all this can be fixed in The Keep, so it doesn't even really matter.

Same problem, except I can't play female characters for some reason. I'm going Templar and really wanted to romance Josephine, but as soon as I did Dorian's quest, that was it. That man needs somebody to hug at that point. (And then some!

at least that wouldn't feel abusive and gross to me. As it is, if I have a play without romancing Dorian, Bull will never be in the party with him to initiate their "romance."
Ok one thing that has been really bugging me is Dorian's character profile pic when he is in your party. The bottom left quarter is greyed out - making it look like part of the image hasn't downloaded or something. Anyone know why this is and if it is actually deliberate?? It's just like such a weird thing to do for his char image.

It's a high collar on his outfit, you can see the rest of it behind his head and neck.

So I'm currently playing a female Trevelyan with the American voice, and when Dorian revealed that they are (very distantly) related, I started laughing something fierce. Someone on Tumblr said the Trevelyans are like "the Thedas equivalent to a wealthy Texas family.
Random head canon time, Dorian's favorite mount is the bog unicorn.
I'm still disappointed we didn't meet him in the bog eying our rare beauty of decay. Joining solely for the chance to mount it one day.
Yeah...knowing that Trevalyans are very distantly related to the Pavus is very uncomfortable to me. Even when he said "we're still good to go" in regards to having a relationship.
It's very distantly though. We're talking many, many generations apart.

Huh, I thought the Cullen/Dorian (male inq... minq... o_o ) was just rumors... Sigh, I too think a Cullen/Dorian romance would have been so much much better then Dorian/IB. And Cullen/Inq would have been awesome too since I happen to like him.
Hmm... rp-ing a male inq agonizing over who he likes and wants more... Dorian or Cullen... lol.. that would have been fun
