Really really wish they'd have gone with at least light body hair. The bodies just look so plastic to me(not even going to mention...there)
You got these amazing face textures with pores and scars and blemishes and such and then...flat textured bodies.
Games are getting to the point where the little things start sticking out a LOT more than they used to. The whole uncanny valley thing I guess. Oh well.
Yeah, it's always disappointing to see them looking like they've been waxed everywhere from the neck down.
Not too big on body hair in general, I like the lighter fuzz rather than a lot of it (Varric's hairy chest isn't in my top ten of why I like him XD), but a fine belly trail would have been... yummy. Oh yes. Even some arm hair. And I'm not even offended by pits, and the men being so clean shaven is just so weird to me. Hell, I wouldn't care if the women had it, to be honest, as I doubt the majority of them have the time or care to shave. It always bothers me in movies where people who are stranded in the middle of no where still look like they waxed their armpits and legs, but that's general society for you. When I write, my women have leg hair, because just who really cares about that when you're living in medieval society? Lol. Likely not a popular opinion, I'm sure. (But if I am writing a human woman with a male elf, elves tend to be much sparser on body hair, and it's just one of those things that show how different they are, so to them it's considered normal and no big deal, just another contrast between their species- and they are different species in my stories, humans and elves can't have children together, unless it's the other elf species (yes, there's two of them) who were created by their gods as an intermediary, who can have kids with both humans and the second elf species, but since those kids are hybrids, they're also sterile. One species has very little body hair, while the second one is somewhere between them and humans, and humans, of course, have "normal" body hair. It's.... complicated, but I love the idea of hybrids rather than "humans with pointy ears" who have kids that look exactly like either parent- in DA, they look human- or a perfect balance of both, like quite a lot of other works. Mine, the hybrids run the gamut, looking a blend of both parents, usually obvious to most people, but some might inherit more from one parent and look very close to fullblooded and otherwise indistinguishable.)
DA's "half elven children look just like humans" bothers me in some respects, as it suggests that elves are the same species, or perhaps a subspecies, so what really makes them different from humans? And why? If they are just "humans with pointy ears" then does that make them a different race, like how different human races are obviously the same species, but clearly different in phenotype. But if that's the case, why is this phenotype so vastly different, when the rest of the human species' races are different only in bone structure, hair, skin, and eyes? Have we seen elves with different phenotypes, like human races? I can't honestly recall seeing any that weren't some flavor of Caucasian. It's just.... weird. And baffling. I am thinking of this way, way more than I should.

My archer:
Mage:
At first, I wasn't sure how I felt about him. In a few angles at the start of the game, the graphics just did not flatter him at all. I saw mentioned somewhere (a totally different thread, maybe) that the brightness of the snow washed out the images to an extent, so the first few hours I played with him, I think that's why I wasn't happy with his appearance once I was out of the CC. I came pretty close to deleting him and starting over. I am really glad I didn't, though.
That smile with "Cassandra disapproves" just kills me. Lol.
I really love his scar. No idea why, but I don't think I'd like him nearly as much without it.
He always seems to have this totally serious expression going on. I am pretty sure he doesn't laugh a whole lot XD Probably too stuck in "I have a huge lot of responsibility on my shoulders, I don't have time for fun."
He's just so squishable and needs a hug.
And finally, recruited Dorian, since he went Templars (the archer chose mages). I want to do Wicked Eyes first, then his personal quests and initiating romance. I already got Giselle wanting him to trick Dorian into meeting his family "advisor" which I think he's not going to warn Dorian first. They aren't friends yet, really, so he feels no need to let him know about it, unlike the archer who considered themselves friends and thus didn't want Dorian to think he was trying to be sneaky. My mage feels more like they are acquaintances working toward a common goal- though he feels that way with all of them, except perhaps Solas, who he feels a little more comfortable with because they are both elven mages. He's still pretty wary of all these strange humans who seem to think he has any idea how to lead the whole lot of them.
I am super sick, have a bad case of strep. I was at the doctor's for two hours getting a saline drip, all kinds of drugs and crap, so my brain is pretty fuzzy and prone to excessive babbling about inane crap. At least I'll have time to play since I can't work right now, right?
I'm so excited to romance him! Im meta gaming like a fiend to get all the best options. Think its okay that my quizzy is pro andraste? Is he against chantry or does he not care?

About his religious beliefs
Spoiler
He is andrastean, but he doesn't believe in the chantry, he thinks it is old, out of touch, and is clinging to tradition for tradition's sake.

I know what you mean about the lights and angles lol. Sometimes I spend hours making a char and I'm all happy and whatnot... I go out in the game and... it's like "wtf is that???" lol... then delete But oh well, it happens to people in real life too... I find a photo of random hot guy #74932 (lol) and I'm all "oooo ) and then I find another pic and I'm "he's... ok... walking away now..." lol...
Anywho, your first char is really cute and he happens to look almost exactly like my first elf char I made As for the mage, the second pic is really working for him, cute
Now that I'm done spamming smileys, hope you get well soon
like that mug shot model guy? In cc, after cc. Yikes!
I was romancing cullen my first pt but fell in love with dorian so quickly. I've never played a male pc in dao or da2, or me series for that matter, but he made me drop everything.
Allaiya, Boomshakalakalakaboom et Gaesesagai aiment ceci
Yes the Ken doll thing is rather creepy lol... but loving the different angles thing since I got to see the really nice kiss/"let's go again" part at end
After 3 playthroughs romancing Dorian, I made a dual wield rogue elf (I really like how he turned out in the CC ) who will romance Dorian. Problem is, since I really liked how he turned out, and because some dialogue got me curious about a mage elf playthrough, I made one... It will be my 4th playthrough as mage... duh lol. And for variety he will romance Dorian
Adding the pics in spoiler tags, since no Dorian present yet...
Spoiler
The Rogue
The Mage
Also, looked around for more Dorian pics... no such thing as "too much of a good thing"... (also adding spoiler tag since more then 1 pic... oh and when I do add this pics, I try to find pics I don't remember seeing recently in the topic and as always, it's not mine, I'm just googling)
Spoiler
Also this, because it made me laugh... (though I do consider Dante in DMC to be very, VERY hot...
Like like like all of these. Dorian sooo hot and yet so sweet he makes me want to cry.

I've noticed several people with avatars that look like they could have been my elf's brother totally throws me off and confuses me because for just a second, I'm almost like "I don't remember making that po- oh wait, that tattoo is wrong"
My mage came out totally adorable. I wanted to try making him look just a little younger, mentally justifying it as he's still in training as First to his clan and that he still has quite a while to go. I'm not sure what age they start at, I seem to recall they are pretty young, and I imagine he'd basically be training right up until the day the current Keeper can no longer lead- so many, many years. Their history seems mostly to be oral, so he wouldn't have time for breaks or goofing off.
Dorian is definitely the "older man" to whom he forms a great infatuation. He's learned, confident, and rather more worldly, relatively speaking. My mage has had no solid relationships in the past (far too much focus on training and learning), so he's kinda in the same boat when it comes to love, minus any sexual relationships. I just love how DAI is giving me options. It's not blatant (not like my Dalish rogue being able to specify to Alistair whether he's had sex before or not), but there's enough nuance to satisfy the range of options to choose from. It's just not possible to have every conceivable dialogue option in game, and no matter how much I feel I could have added to it, were I to have the fortune to ever work for a company like Bioware, I know I'd miss things that other people would have wanted, and so on. Within the range of choices I have, I am pretty happy with it.
I do still wish I could ship those elves together though. They'd be so utterly perfect for each other, heh.
And thank you for the well wishes. I should feel better in a couple days. I hate being sick
Oh those Ken doll bodies, as long as you don't pay attention to that, I like it, though can I admit, I never liked how the Inquisitor keeps his arms out like that just before the scene shifts to after sex.
This is where we need (neeeeed) modders to gird up their loins (?) and get to work. We appreciate the labour of love.

Mmmm, one of the mods I had for Oblivion was having actual bits. And then running around naked for a couple hours afterward just because it was so hysterical. No jiggle physics going on down there, it was just funny as hell jumping around like a psycho, going swimming, or riding horses in the buff. Or occasionally engaging aggressive mobs. Would have been even better if they'd stop attacking just to give you a wtf face and laugh.
Okay so I'm being a crazy flirt around skyhold and I'm getting the sense that I'm progressing cassandra too far cuz I got her varric gift quest as soon as I got to skyhold. I chose templars so only just got dorian so not his quest yet.
Any tips on raising his approval faster? I know I can shut down romances if cass goes too far, but I want dorian asap!

Just talk to him, avoid any negative responses (like disagreeing on the slave thing) then go do Dorian's Request and A Friend in Qaranus (however it's spelled) at the War Table. My boy disagreed on the slave thing, took the "that's a terrible way to look at it" response, and a couple others with slight disapproval, but I still got Giselle as soon as I did the War Table missions then did his followup (he'll talk about Alexius rather than Felix, really), but not taking the negative choices is a safer bet if you are worried.
