Very nice. I had cool colors too in one of my playthroughs... In my main however, I focused on stats and got meh brown, plaid green bleh and mossy-purple metal... sigh...
lol yeah, my first play through was just running around looking "practical" and staying alive. This time, I said screw it, time to get fashionable!
lol!
Most of my stuff ended up being red at the end thanks to dragon scales/webbing/whatever parts of the dragon I was using. Also, for some reason I couldn't understand, the formal attire ended up being the best gear I could have stuck Dorian in. It was at the same armor stat as my supreme light armor of the dragon. So I always found it funny that I had these heavily armored characters and then Dorian in the ball attire
I hated that formal gear but I ended up going with it in my first play through cause it was the best I had for the end. The armor in my picture is actually better than the formal attire. It's the battlemage armor set complete with the battlemage armor arms and legs. I got the schematics in the hissing wastes from that place where the dog is watching. I think I got the tier 3 fabric and leather from there as well and I used the golden halla hide masterwork. Sorry elves. ![]()

Sketched some Trevelyan/Dorian, sadly suffering from an artblock though :')
"What do you think?"
"So it's all on me?"
"Should it be all on me?"
Dorian likes to dance around with his words so I kind of prefer him with Trevelyan - he knows how the noble tend to play their games so they can be stupidly clever together //laughs

Hey so what's up with being able to break up with Dorian after you start his romance? Cass and Cullen don't have that option. Why is it assumed I'd want to break up with him? It's like Sera, why is she the only one I can kick out with a dialogue tag immediately and not viv? Unfair, I'm tempted to click it and then reload!
You have more courage than I.
I actually wondered about the same thing, I don't know, it feels like the romance never "locks", you know? Which is completely stupid in my opinion.
I know, right?? But there was that dialogue right after you spend the night together about what the future holds. Thats unique to him too and he kind of just says "we'll see". Wtf?! There's no "we'll see". Forever, dammit!
As far as this goes, with Dorian specifically, I think the option as well as his lines regarding the future are completely in-character and appropriate. Dorian has several lines, not only in his dialog with the Inquisitor but also in banter with Cole, that show he is actually insecure about some things. To me, it seems he has this attitude of "this can't possibly be real, it can't last," -- even his remarks post-Adamant go along with this: "I thought, 'I've finally lost him'," -- and the Inquisitor has to hit him over the head with the fact that, yes, he DOES love him in order for it to sink in by the end of the game.
On three separate occasions he asks the Inquisitor what he wants, deferring to him and not stating his own feelings, and it's up to the Inquisitor to ask Dorian "Is that what you want?" An option that I took every time it was available.
I found this to be an interesting aspect of Dorian's character, adding a lot of depth. This stems not only from the realities of life as a homosexual in Tevinter, which he explains that first night, but also from his feelings of total rejection by his father, which had a profound effect on how Dorian feels about himself.

I am going to need to find that for my next play through

I have to admit, I am a sucker for Trevelyan/Dorian (it helps that Mage Trevelyan is my favorite origin story for this game).

I really wish there was a body slider. Like with DA2, I just can't bring myself to make a male human mage because of the physique. I mean, Dorian himself looks hot and everything in his armor, but I dislike the way the male Inquisitor looks in his mage duds. I'll have to settle for being the meat shield for my squishy mage boyfriend.

Admittedly I skimmed your post (sorry!) because I'd like to come across the dialogue in game first but an insecure Dorian is interesting...I would love to try to make him have more faith in my quizzy, more unabashed love and security, but the multiple layers are very interesting.

I do wish that there was a "hug Dorian" option for Inquisitors who befriended him. He could certainly use one.

I'm so in love with Dorian's romance tarot card. It's the most beautiful image I've ever seen in a video game.
DAI is just full of breath-taking imagery.

try talking to some other companions then go back to talk to him. You should get a cut scene. I had that same issue.

Did you do the judgments? Sometimes that can trigger it.Soooo I brought Dorian to the fade with me and he didn't say anything sweet to me. I read an earlier post that he was supposed to? He just says the normal things in skyhold if youre in a romance...

Thanks guys! Same as when I was a girl with a few mushy words thrown in...not as mushy as I expected...hmmm..oh well, tagged on a kiss to make it better :-)

Dorian would like to remind you that no one expects the Inquisition
Oooo how dashing :-) suits him well. I'm so bad with crafting armor because I always pick what looks good instead of what has better properties. What's a high level armor for him that looks yum? I'm level 15 so I think I can only rock tier 2?

So, does anyone know how to fix that bug that prevents Dorian's quest from triggering?
Since Skyhold, I've got absolutely no dialogue with him whatsoever... ![]()

How far are you into Skyhold (and who did you support) that could be part of problem, the approval is too low. Also, one thing people found help was saying some dialogue for Skyhold, but that may not help now.So, does anyone know how to fix that bug that prevents Dorian's quest from triggering?
Since Skyhold, I've got absolutely no dialogue with him whatsoever...

When I sided with the Templars I didn't get him to talk more or his personal quest until after I had found the Grey Warden and done some of his war table missions and killed some venitori.

For all of you other Dorian obsessed fans, David Gaider recently talked about him in several tumblr posts, so go have a read at his "Dorian Pavus" tumblr tag.
Going to specifically point out the one by the self-professed straight guy. I'm sure there are some in this thread that I'm just not aware of (I think of most of you as your avatars, really), but it was really nice to see. Sometimes all of the negativity on the internet can overwhelm the positive aspects of it, so it's nice to have a refresh once in a while.

There are several threads on the forums relating to this issue (Google search results link here), but the one that contains the most useful information seems to be this one, so be sure to have a read there.
The most consistent solution I've found has nothing to do with approval, Alexius's fate, or templar vs mages, but rather with NOT completing Varric's quest (to talk to "his friend" on the battlements) once you finally arrive at Skyhold.
In the 2/3 of my plays where I was able to successfully trigger Dorian's quest -- I abandoned one 40-hour play when I realized my problem --, I did a once around of talking to the companions at Skyhold (but not Varric), journeyed to some other map to "refresh" Skyhold, then went back and everything proceeded as normal.

Straight guy here, and my second character romanced Dorian. To me it really didn't matter about his orientation, I just really found myself liking his character so the next Inquisitor I made romanced him. The way I look at it, hundreds of people spent thousands of hours making the game, why not check out everything?
