This is my favorite place to "start" the Dorian romance. The way he moves in for the first kiss is hella sexy.
That's what I can't figure out how to trigger. Ah well.

I couldn't tell you exactly what all I clicked on to get it. I know that after the tavern scene, I didn't choose the flirt-to-kiss option, I told Dorian he was brave. Then right after that was a scene with Giselle in which Dorian told me that there were rumors that we were "intimate"... which we were technically not, yet. I did choose the flirt option there, which got me the scene in question. I don't remember having passed up any other flirting options, except for the one after the tavern, and if there are any during the tavern scene, I probably skipped those, too.
You said you never flirted with him before his personal quest, didn't "come out" to him during that quest, and then didn't kiss him after the quest, right? Maybe you let too many opportunities go by? If you've never shown any interest in him, there's no reason for Dorian to bring it up.
It's funny, I was just looking at my screenshots folder and noticed that I only started snapping screenshots when Dorian first showed up, lol.

Yeah, he probably isn't going to make the first move, if you haven't hinted any interest in him yet.

Makes sense then. I will try that with the next one
because there will be a next one.

Haha, I'm impressed with your stamina. I've been doing my "completionist" game (I literally killed nine of the ten dragons today) and I'm finally ready to start What Pride Has Wrought and then go straight through the end. After that, I think I'm gonna have to take a pretty long break.

Interesting... My m.o. when RPing, as in real life, is to not ask questions/say things that seem inappropriate for the time and/or place,
The exact opposite of my MO!
Not sure if a spoiler tag is necessary for this, but I'll err on the side of caution.

Yeah, if you ask him to explain, then you can tell him that you've "more than heard of it actually." If you flirted with him beforehand, he sarcastically says he's surprised and then you haven't exactly been subtle (my favorite part which makes the cringe worthy "I'm going to need you to explain that" worth it, in my opinion). If you haven't flirted with him before that point, he wonders how they're going to work that into the Chant.

Speaking of this (well maybe not EXACTLY this but yay conversational springboards!) anyone else got a vaguely condescending tone from Dorian during the romance (or maybe not just during the romance, maybe in general) where he seems to consider the Inquisitor really good at killing things and even good at solving problems but also as kinda dim. Like they need stuff he sees as obvious explained to them. He's not even necessarily wrong since the Inquisitor might be a mercenary or a Dalish elf who are definitely going to lag behind him in terms of book learnin' and I think it depends in part on which dialogue options you choose but I still get the vibe that Dorian considers the Inquisitor to be... well, not the brightest candle in the Chantry.
I sort of have an obsession with Gideon Emery's voice, now.

I don't know.I think it depends , if you tell him when he's having a melt down after Adamant "Hey I can help with the Books".
He pretty much says "You ,Books , Library , LOLZ!"then he apologizes.(it seems Dorian is a bit peculiar when it comes to the Library. He probably had some minor inner fit everytime a book is not in the right place.)
I didn't mind because I was playing a guy who really wasn't into books.
I think depending on your roleplay , you see character differently.

Tevinter first> You. I'm glad that Dorian has his priorities straight.

The way he adoringly talks about you in the end, as in "you're practically a superhero", makes it clear what he thinks of your abilities. I think he can be forgiven for trying to make himself seem a bit more book-smart, even if it's not true. You don't want to be worse at everything than your partner, it's difficult being in a relationship with Jesus.

I do get a slightly condescending tone from Dorian. But as a guy whose husband has scolded him for being a little condescending with explanations himself, I can forgive him. I always view it as Dorian just being sure that he's the smartest guy in the room (and he probably is most of the time) and that has led him to be a little full of himself at times. I don't think he looks down on the Inquisitor as much as he just assumes that he knows information that other people don't know. It's not the best quality (speaking from personal self-reflective experience). Fortunately, I think he comes to respect an Inquisitor who is knowledgeable. He's definitely a cocky guy and I can see why some people find him to be off-putting and condescending. I love him for it, but I also LOVE Vivienne, so I might not be the best judge in this case.
I never really got a condesending tone from his dialogues. I did get alot of sarcasm whenever we discussed Tevinter. ![]()
He did acted a bit condescending when you take him along on Bull's personal mission and he meets Gat.
Yeah, I haven't really felt any condescension, except maybe the first couple conversations where he explains Tevinter, but I imagine it'd get tiring trying to put to rest that they're all a bunch of evil, sadistic blood mages.

I definitely get where you're coming from, but I don't think that's ever how it came off to me. I don't think Dorian walks around secretly telling himself that he's following the orders of an idiot. It always felt like it was half Dorian doing his teasing as a means of showing affection thing (which I'm personally guilty of) and half Dorian assuming he's the most knowledgeable person in the room unless there is evidence to the contrary (which I'm also personally guilty of), and he's not off base on that. Unless you're Trevelyan or perhaps mage Lavellan, the Inquisitor probably hasn't had any formal education or time for free reading and the dialogue wheel really doesn't give you an opportunity to establish yourself as academically inclined outside of the Inquisition perks dialogue options, which are pretty poorly done anyway, in my opinion.

I just laughed so hard. I'd love to see it but I doubt I'll be able to resist flirting with him before that //fails at life

If I wasn't sitting in a 40 minute queue in WoW, I'd load up the game and record the scene XD Dorian cracks me up there with that line.
Hey I was wondering if people could help me make up my mind.
I've gotten back to playing my Dorimance playthrough and am still a few hours away from having to pick Templar or Mage mission. I would like to roll templar with this character but am worried that it might.. lessen... the experience of romancing Dorian since I won't be doing his direct recruitment mission.
Has anyone done templar + Dorimance or maybe tried both options? Opinions?
