I tried romancing Dorian the Alternative way. By having Dorian kiss my Quizzy. It worked and the scene was great but it's like the game didn't even register that we were together. Meaning, I got the "This will begin the romance" warning that allowed Dorian to kiss him, then when I went to talk to Dorian to do the whole "I need to talk to you/Kiss" Instead there was another "This will start the romance" warning. I went ahead and clicked it and got the regular convo to agree to a relationship. Then I tried to get the making out cut scene again. I got the heart option to talk to him I selected the making out dialogue but no cut scene. It's basically the same as the "i wanna spend time with you" option.

 

Is that a bug or will the making out cut scene not trigger if you pick the alternative path?

 

I reloaded and began the relationship with my Quizzy kissing Dorian and got the making out scenes no prob.

 

I had this problem as well.

 

As others have said, for the alternate romance scene (which I loved) you do afterward have to confirm the relationship.

Do that, simply save and reload. Kiss scene should work thereafter. At least it did for me. It didn't bug my game later either.

 

If I tried to do it all at once, the kiss scene would bug and nothing happened.

 

& since others were mentioning it earlier, I can confirm that you have to flirt at least once with Dorian to get this alternate scene to appear. I don't think it matters which flirts you do as long as you do it at least once. Gotta get those intimate rumors started somehow now, yeah?

Like some of you, I also prefer the sex version and it doesn't even have to do with that glorious ass. I just adore the conversation between them on the edge of the bed. I'm simultaneously turned off by overemotional-ness and attracted to sensitivity, so Dorian's constant balancing act between flippancy and vulnerability almost literally makes me weak in the knees.

Haha, too true. I'm a "sensitive type" and I find myself f*cking annoying over it, so if he was overly emotional it'd be a bit much, but he never really seems to go overboard. He has his moments, but he pulls himself back together and goes back to being his sassy self. His humor amuses me, and his vulnerability makes me want to hug him, and then the rest of him is being a sexy magnificent mage. I think they got the balance really well.

 

I can see each of my Inqs meshing so well too even though he's always the same. Rogue is goofy and likes to mess around and loves the snark and playfulness. Mage is young, inexperienced, and sensitive, so having a fluff-mance works well. Warrior will be the protective, confident type who's happy to be more dominant. In a way, it does amaze that so many player character personalities can still make sense with him. I haven't really felt that kind of flexibility with my Warden (canon romance Zevran) or my Hawke (canon romance Fenris). I had a male elf circle mage with Zev and a male Dalish rogue with Zev, and while I love Zev, it was very samey. My first Hawke was a sword & board male warrior with Fenris (friendship path), I also went through with a mage (rival path), and while it did feel a bit different, it still didn't feel as varied as it has so far with Inquisition.

Last night I finished Dorian's companion quest, and he's probably one of my favorite characters now. I was originally not gonna romance him just because doing so many playthroughs is extremely tedious, but he's so great I might do it anyway.

And of course, my favorite line, "Dorian, Corypheus peed on the carpet again! In this analogy, the carpet is Haven." XD

Some guy said I write just some one-line posts, so to hell with me. OK, to hell with me. And listen to that guy who loves long posts, the longer - then wiser according to his post. Gogogo, write long post, pal. And once again: I would like to say that Dorian is a whiner and I dislike him, I repeat it here for the last time, no need to argue. Everyone has the right to like a character or not, but next time a company makes a gay NPC, let´s encourage them to be kind of more original. At least drop the script with daddie issues. Goodbye for now. And Ironbull is the best !

I enjoy his lines about the weather because they are SO ME. I moved from Miami, FL to Seattle, WA. For several months in the year I'm much colder than I prefer to be.

 

Then when I take Dorian to the desert maps and he complains about those, I want my Inquisitor to say, "Aren't you always complaining about being cold?"

When you complete "A Friend in Qarnus" at the War Table, Maevrais does comment in her letter that Dorian isn't made for the cold. He's quite a bit tougher than he admits though, it might just be him voicing the first thing that pops into his head. Either that or the Inquisitor has to coax him out of the study:

I listened to his banter on Youtube when you take him to different places.

He's never happy.Everything sucks , it's too cold , there's dogs , we're going to get lost , the ground is slippery , climbing a mountain is hard and on and on.

I stand by it , Dorian is whiny.

Poor Dorian. Now I'm picturing him with his hair a soaking wet mess and his guyliner dripping down his cheeks.  Pouting. Cold and cranky. And my Cadash Inquisitor can't look away but at the same time he doesn't want to make eye contact while trying to avoid chuckling.

Inquisitor:  "Hey you did tell me not to kill anything without you. Remember?"
