Why does everyone seem to think it so likely Solas will be a romance option? If I were part of the DA team, I would think a qunari or middle-aged human would be better than yet another elf (humans are too cool to go out of fashion, shut up xD).

 

I guess I'm just surprised he has so many fans in the romance department.

 

 

I'm with you on that. Solas doesn't really appeal to me (haven't heard his voice yet though, a voice can be a game-changer, so to speak). I would love to see Bioware give us an older man option, aka our Grey Warden fellow. Even he isn't ringing all my bells, but an older man option WOULD be a really cool route to try out.

I got the feeling he didn't write Iron Bull when Mr. Weekes replied to one of Elu's tweets a while ago.  The wording made it sound like it wasn't his character, but it really could mean anything

Taking Vivienne instead of Sera and have a four mage party is really tempting though. >.<

I tended to not really use Merrill all that much because I just never could support her crazy eluvian obsession.  However, when I did use her, I always felt bad if Anders, Fenris, or Sebastian were with us because they were all total dicks to her all the time.  She was naive and, imo, making a terrible decision, but I always felt bad for her since she's so sweet and I could imagine their ridiculing would really hurt her feelings.

I'm thinking my main party will be Dorian, Cole and Varric. I'm always pretty confident that Varric will get along with anyone, but I hope Dorian and Cole get along well. I feel like Dorian might be more accepting of Cole, since Tevinter is traditionally less conservative about things pertaining to magic, so I'm hopeful it will work out.

It was cute how Carver had a crush on her though. And IsabelaxMerrill is one of my favorite Bioware bromances. Really cute and funny banter between those two.

Yeah. He's one of my favorite characters but that's so true. That's why I like rivalmancing him as a mage so much. I feel like he changes. :3

This is a good point.  I could see Dorian (provided he is actually Dorian and as awesomely snarky as we are speculating) getting along well with Vivienne, Varric, and Iron Bull.  Perhaps Sera as well, if she's not a total brat.  And the Bearded Warden if he's got a sense of humor like in the tavern art.  I could see him not getting along as well with Cassandra and Cullen who seems to take themselves pretty seriously.  The others (Solas and Cole) I'm not so sure about.

I haven't decided yet what I'll use for my first playthrough, but I tend to pick characters that I like to hear banter from and not necessarily ones that are strategically good. lol

 

I keep remembering that they introduced exploration issues that require you to bring different people along, though. So, my "pick favorites and rarely diverge" method will probably have to go.

Well, he is possibly that legendary Tevinter healing magister mentioned from the comics by Mae.

I'd think he'd get along with Solas more so than Vivienne, honestly. Vivienne is pro-circle and I don't think Dorian will be down with that at all. He's against the corruption in Tevinter, but I don't think that'll stop him from being very pro-mage freedom.

Well, we know that three mages will be different.

 

Vivienne is going to be fabulous and snooty and elitist, I imagine.  Maybe a little cruel in her dialogue.  I imagine her being a bit like Naomi Campbell, frankly.  Kind of haughty and bitchy, but has the goods to back it up.

 

Solas and Dorian we don't really know enough about.  However, if he is Dorian, then I'd suspect that he's going to be "good" in nature.  Maybe a "fight the oppressors" type of guy, given his dislike of the corruption in Tevinter.  It's kind of hard to speculate at this point.
