Hmm, now I am sure it is a bug since I went with your second option (of saying I'll go with you and what about us) and he was talking about leaving after the the party the first time I spoke to him, but when I didn't he talked about staying. You know, I never considered the Temple of Mythal as the thing triggering the difference, but it could be, did you bring him with you the second time?

I don't actually recall, but I can't imagine that I didn't. I know that regardless of whether you bring him to the temple or not he still talks about leaving. Maybe it has something to do with how much approval he has past a certain trigger point? I can't imagine it would hinge on any other conversation choices as the post-temple one is the one where he brings up leaving.

Maybe it's when you can talk about the future ?

The one ending up with him telling you "We'll talk about this later if we survive".

I know you can ask him what he wants .I always did that , and if I remember correctly he always said he was going to leave eventually at the end(First playthrough I told him about the Tevinter talk "Do what you want" second playthrough when full  "Don't leave Meeee".)

Maybe you have to make clear you want him by your side no matter what .And not question him.

That could be it since I always went with the asking for his opinion. Oh well, once I start my next play through I'll just tell him I want him to stay (and who knows maybe by that point the next patch will be out and this problem will be solved ;) ).

He used to have a nose ring in one of the very old concept art.

It's a bit hard to see.

Edit :

Spoiler

Hahaha.. I would actually have been okay with this. I like piercings (I have a septum piercing, industrial in my left ear, conch dermal punch in my right, 9/16" earlobes with 2g second holes).

Dat septum piercing... *fans self*

I've been kicking myself about not bringing Dorian to the Temple.

Does he have anything to say about the Inquisitor telling Calpernia and her Venatori to return to Tevinter and reform it?

hello I read a little about dorians and bull relationship and I was wondering what you guys here think about it.

Bull seams not  to respect dorian at all.

Post about the relationship.

Short answer- it makes some people uncomfortable because it can come across as unhealthy or even abusive. That post from tumblr is pretty much the perfect explanation why.

If you scoot back to around page 650, the debate goes on for three or four pages, although I think it came up earlier than that as well.

Not sure about the Calpernia bit, I've been wondering that myself, but he does have a delightful bit of dialogue if you drink form the well that's something like "You'd better not be dead. I refuse to lose you to a well." And I believe there's some cursing in tevene interspersed throughout the worried minirant. I always find taking LIs along on important quests is almost always worth any price. (Usually having a combat practical party structure, but I would personally storm the black city with a party of solid mages to get a adorable worried rant from an LI.)

He is actually pretty interesting, particularly if you go with alliance with the Elves since you will be blowing everything he knows about the history of his people out of the water. This is one place that is he is definitely quite chatty.

And if romanced you get to hear some Tevinter cursing (if you drink)

Well, he says he doesn't want to lose you to a well if you ask his opinion before drinking. If you do drink, when you come back out of it, you can hear him say that if you're dead, he'll kill you. And since he's a necromancer, that's not exactly an idle threat.

I've just seen the scene where Dorian initiates the first kiss and man was that adorable. I loved the banter. It's a shame that it's buggy and doesn't properly register the romance initiation. I realized this when, on next going to Skyhold, the messenger was not there for the amulet quest as has been the case in my previous plays.

I'm going to try Allaiya's suggestion in this post and hopefully it won't bug out again. I'd really like to keep that as part of my play.

I want to report back and say that I tried the above suggestion and it didn't work for me. I got the alternate scene, saved, reloaded, and it was still buggy. I loaded again, went to another map (Hinterlands), went back, and it remained buggy.

At this point, especially now that I've actually seen it, I just won't bother messing around with it and do the other scene. I hope this is fixed eventually because it would be a really nice way of starting the romance if it didn't bug out.

RE Dorian and Calpernia. I'm in the middle of my pro-templar play -- the last thing I did was explore the temple of Dumat. I'm really hoping to get more dialog from Dorian about it. IMO it seems only fair since he has as much of a personal interest in that whole mess as Cullen did with Samson.

I wish they'd paired Calpernia's plotline with the mage side rather than the templars. Samson was...eh.

Indeed he is. I have to agree with earlier posts regarding dalish inquisitors, however. Especially mage dalish inquisitors. They really should have more racial dialogue options about the temple considering all of their beliefs have been shaken to their cores, the lore a first was taught day in and out to pass on and keep for their clan. Everything they have ever believed about their religion and their lost culture is wrong and they're essentially back where they started with all the conflicting information and all we get is Dorian talking about how inaccurate history is about Tevinter's involvement in things. It seems really lacking from an RP perspective to not be able to freak out about it. If I recall there's a little rant you can give Morrigan at the well as an elf, but it's not really the various levels of freaking out that should have been options.

Yeah, that is a weakness in this game. I saw special dialogue option for humans once. In fact, I didn't even know we had that until 3/4ths of the way through the game and I suddenly saw a new picture on the wheel. I may have missed a few dialogue options, but I know I didn't miss that many that so late in the game would be the first time seeing it.

There were a number of times were there should have been special dialogue for mages, elves, dwarfs, etc. One I can name off the top of my head which always annoyed me is when you are talking to all the chargers and Dalish says she isn't a mage, that would make her an apostate and it was like...hello? I am a mage too and I allies with the mages...and I can only imagine the frustration of that scene when playing as a Dalish mage (...unless they actually do something for that, but I haven't heard anything yet)

Nope no special dialogue with dalish. Had to head cannon my way out of that one with my dalish mage. I just let her have her little running joke, because everyone else there knew it wasn't true as well. I haven't played a human, but mage gets a good number of class options. The racial options for an elf though are really not in good places. Like how there's one accepting the inquisitor position that's like "an elf will lead the inquisition." And some minor changes in how the dalish clan reacts to you, but I would most certainly preferred options regarding things like the fate of the inquisitor's clan and a heartbroken "everything I know is wrong" in the temple of Mythal (accompanied by prompt hugs from Dorian as my inquisitor tries not to cry in front of everyone.)

That is true, the mages did get a good amount, but yeah, it just felt like more could have been done in that regards and really, more could have been done with the origins in general, I think that was the main thing that disappointed me, besides the final boss battle. I picked Trevelyan Mage because that was the origin that interest me the most (a mage involved with the negotiations at the Conclave and possibly the rebellion, that was going to be great), but then it never really went anywhere beyond a few dialogue options and dealing with lower approval at the Ball.

It is definitely unfortunate that the Dalish didn't get more since they are so connected to the game, especially in the later part of it. It feels a bit like a missed opportunity (And yes, there definitely needed to be more hug Dorian options, throughout the game)

Not sure if anyone else ever occasionally reads fanfic, but I found this one the other night.

It's sexy, pretty romantic, and actually in character for the most part.

Oooh, fanfiction, I always enjoy finding new fanfiction.

I rather enjoyed this one:

Yeah, I find it hilarious that we're supposed to believe that Samson was a logical choice as the Mythal vessel for Cory.  I wanted to laugh in his face when he claimed that my mage wouldn't understand the knowledge but he would.

I swear Cory must have went off and smoked some crack after losing the mages.
