Fenris/Dorian? oO No effing way.

If Anders, with his rebel mage antics already pissed the elf off, imagine Dorian with his Tevinter mage pride.

Not to mention his uncontrollable tongue...it's a matter of time until he hits a nerve and sets Fenris on a mad frenzy of rage.

I used to think that, and that is definitely how their relationship would start at first - like throwing water onto a pan of hot oil.

But I think that they could end up with a really interesting 'odd friendship' of sorts. Based on how  Dorian at least tries to get on everyone's good side in party banter (mostly), I think that he would attempt to make nice. He's insanely curious and would ask Fenris about himself.  Fenris would retract and be defensive/sour/hostile at first, and the slavery topic would get explosive, but I think that ultimately Fenris would see that Dorian wants Tevinter to change. I also think that Fenris could open Dorian's eyes to the slave perspective and force him to actually think about what a slave has to go through.

Huge learning and soul searching potential there. At least IMO.

I agree, hence my Hawke/Fenris Dorian/Inquisitor bonding head canon, but I think Archivist is just saying it's a terrible idea for a ship, which I would also have to agree with. I don't pretend to understand crack shipping, but Dorian/Fenris as a ship is sooo beyond messed up crack shipping I don't even know where to start.

Oh, okay. Yeah, I wouldn't want to see them actually getting together in that sort of way either.

But a friendship, I'd love to see.

Everything requires a musical number, but that is actually perfect.

I am trying to think of a tactful way to ask for details (like: where does your family live and/or what do they do that you have lost a lot of them to lightning? also how many are 'a lot?' i'm sorry i'm just really curious) but I can't think of one.

I have a good number of family living in the flat lands in south Gerogia. One day the family sat down in front of the front porch when lightning hit. The next thing people knew was four people where dead. The other member was just stupid and liked to golf in the rain. He kind of had that second bolt coming to him.

"Does the cold really not bother anyone else?"

"You know, you might be a bit warmer if you dressed for it. Not that I'm complaining about the view..."

I found it amusing that in Haven he was actually standing in the shade. I mean, geez at least be in the sun if you're that cold.

Solas' lack of shoes really bothered me.

Then I realized my blood elf rogue in WoW also had those weird half shoes with his toes sticking out, while running around a frozen waste land (Frostfire). I didn't know if I should laugh or just be really confused at the flashbacks to Fenris' half shoes and people complaining about it.

I just head canon that elves have extremely durable feet. I actually like the whole shoeless elf thing, it makes them very elfy. Plus life is better barefoot and the elven robes, which notably lack them, are so great.

Solas has shoes!...Well...a shoe...and it is around his neck...What is in that shoe pouch thing he has?

It's the jaw bone (or half of one?) of a wolf. Don't worry, I thought it looked like a Santa Elf shoe too. I had to ask the Solas thread people what it was.

...*looks at the image again*...yeah, I do see the jaw shape, which does make more sense than having him walking around with stereotypical elf shoe (which I always thought was funny)

Would you rather do a Dorianmance with:

1. This qunari.

2. This elf.

3. Or this dwarf. [credit where it's due, he's basically a copy of this guy]

Cuz seriously, I can't decide. Between which background comments I prefer and how well they fit in the story and the king and frequency of comments they get and the war table missions and not even mentioning the potentially problematic animations and also the paucity of Qunari armor and EVERYTHING. There are too many variables. It's giving me a headache. They're all rogues btw.

Finally getting back to the mage class after two plays as a warrior and decided to go with Necromancy. I went Rift the first go 'round because of the whole Anchor + rifts plot thing, but using the spec on Dorian was pretty fun.

I can't believe that the guy who actually HAS the spec never commented on it... <_< . Cole was not pleased. Solas, whom I also expected to be displeased, was merely curious about why I wanted to learn it. I have yet to talk to Cassandra about it because other cutscenes are in the way that I am holding off on.

You mean, based solely on the looks? My vote is for qunari. Dwarf as the second close. Cutscences gonna look funny though.

Her reaction will be the most cool one. I don't like necro abilities but I'll definetely pick it while romancing her, just for the lulz.

I wouldn't mind expanded opinions, especially from people who've played full games with the respective races and how they fit, but I don't want to totally hijack the thread either.

Yeah that poor qunari's head kept getting cut off and the throne slouch is baaaaaad with a qunari but I do like their backstories better. If only city elves were a thing. >.>

The cut scenes with my Qunari and Dorian turned me off.  I can't image the dwarf would be better. I would recommend the Elf. He's pretty and the cut scenes may not be so bad.

Cutscenes work way better with elfs and humans, yeah. I just don`t really like this particular elf, sorry.

I don`t think any race is somehow better than the other from the "romancing Dorian story" standpoint.

My personal favorites are elven rogue and human mage. I`ve started qunari warrior playthrough, but i thought they were going to patch the game this/next week, so i put it on hold, i often get that banter bug, hope the patch will fix it.

Normally I would suggest to go with whatever seems the most fun, or suggest that you pick some roleplay reason to enjoy and stick with that. However, there are some technical considerations that you might not be aware of.

I can't recall if it's been mentioned in this particular thread or if I saw it elsewhere.

During the romance scenes, even as a human, you will notice some odd height differentiation. In some scenes your guy will be taller (by a couple of inches,) in others Dorian will be taller. This was obviously done for cinematic purposes.

I did see elsewhere that this is considerably more noticeable when using a non-human race. If that is something that will bother you, but you really don't want to go with human, I would suggest the elf. That will be the closest in height to the human model to it won't be as weird.

That is true, they all have this problem, but the humans and elves have it the least. I have to admit, I found this issue to be rather annoying. I mean, I can imagine that is difficult to animate characters who are different heights, but this is something that should have been worked on more.
