^ I found it especially odd with the human though. They are supposed to be the exact same height, they're using the same model. Normally if you are standing around they actually are the same height. The cinematic team, for whatever reason, just decided that in some scenes the Inquisitor needed to be taller or shorter compared to Dorian because it made the scene "work" better in their minds.

for my dwarf I just imagine he is on his tiptoes

(im pretty sure the dwarf model doesnt actually change size they just float him off the floor alittle bit it was really noticeable for me in a cutscene with cassandra where my guys feet where not even on the ground)

Hey Dorian fans!

Just wondering if any of you could give me some advice. Like all right-thinking people, I think Dorian is the bees' knees, so was looking forward to romancing him with my current Inquisitor (my first romanced Blackwall, and my second was going after Solas but I've kinda lost interest in him for now). Everything was going great. Recruited him in Redcliffe, have been chatting to him in Haven (and enjoying the opportunity to flirt shamelessly with him, naturally), got his first cutscene in Skyhold closely followed by the Venatori quest. In my first playthrough, I remember only having to kill the Hinterlands group to get his personal quest (his was the first Inner Circle quest I got, in fact) but this time around it JUST. WON'T. TRIGGER.

I remember hearing about his quest/romance being bugged a while ago, but I can't find any concrete information as to whether it's been patched yet or is still a widespread problem. Do I just need more approval? I can't see that being the case as he's been practically oozing approval for my current character, whereas he and my first quizzy disagreed on a number of points early on (though they still ended up becoming BFFs, hehe).

Sorry, the dreaded Dorian bug is not patched yet. There are workarounds. I've encountered the bug when I talked to Hawke at Skyhold before doing his war table and venatori quest. That's the only time I've ever gotten the bug. Some have stated that speaking to him too much in Haven is an issue and it's better to only speak to him at Skyhold. We really need a patch 3.  :(

Yeah, they really need to patch this one. I read somewhere on the forum that they were moving it to a high priority problem, but who knows when the next patch will be out, especially since they only got back into work last week.

See, my first Inquisitor exhausted all his dialogue in Haven and managed to get the quest with no problems. It's kinda infuriating. I keep re-entering Skyhold hoping for Mother Giselle to appear in the hall, lol. Might just carry on killing Venatori for a while and hope that it's just an approval issue. Can't even go back to an earlier save as I (stupidly) deleted all my pre-Skyhold saves to make room for another playthrough! Thanks for the advice :)

Sorry if I'm asking the obvious here, but did you take Dorian with you to the Hinterlands when you killed the Venatori?  That's what gets you the big approval boost, I think.

I got  Dorian's personal quests( Father an Amulet) quickly and without Killing  venatori.

I was soo lucky because Dorian is my preferite companion and only LI.  Unfortunately though.. I've gotten the bug with Solas' personal quest: I ended the game and no quest for him.

I've started my second run, and apparently nothing changed. mah...

Fantastic! Love the peacock feathers and the way the snake staff is making a shape reminiscent of the infinity symbol in the sun above him.

So beautiful.

I'm surprised that there aren't any peacock feathers integrated into his outfits.

Some better material and tailoring, add in Dorian's preppy popped collar and maybe some peacock feathers instead of whatever Anders had, you might have something.

Ugh, please no.

These are actually Tevinter-style robes, read into that what you will. I do really like the way they look and fit on characters (in DAO) except for the "feathered pauldrons" as Varric called them. And unfortunately these are the only non-full-length robes in the entirely of DAO. Also, if you look closely, Fenris's shoulders and gauntlets also have a feather motif, which I'm sure is not a coincidence.

What I REALLY liked with Dorian's outfits (and tarot cards) was the incorporation of the Tevinter snake, which seems to be a common theme in much of the artwork used in DAI for Tevinter in general as well as the Venatori.

And as an aside, Halward should NOT have been wearing that Circle mage robe. Wtf dude, you're a rich Vint magister, dress like one!

Well, considering that Redcliffe just finished being occupied by a Magister, going in full regalia probably wasn't a good idea.

Which I find a bit odd considering dragons are supposedly the big Tevinter theme. I mean, small lizards, big lizards, yeah, but its a curiosity.

Am I the only one that immediately has this come to mind when I think about the Tevinter use of elephants as mounts:

I was thinking of a peacock mount, but that works too.

Tevinter lore and wiki actually state they use imported elephant mounts and have huge golemns protecting the gates of Minrathous.

I still want a blue and green Chocobo with a long tail. Also, why does Tevinter get all the nice things? Why can't Ferelden have elephants? A country made of war loving tribes could benefit from a dozen war elephants.

So, I finally got that elusive banter between Sera and Dorian about being joined at the hip - it turns out that it would only trigger after having visited the Temple of Mythal without Dorian in the party. Now, the IB one I can't get because I'm not Qunari, so all that's left is Cole's banter about Dorian being happier; that one I just can't get to trigger for the life of me despite all the blood magic I've used. Any kind souls know the specific circumstances under which this exchange will fire? Do I have to have exhausted all the other banters between Cole and Dorian? Will that banter only trigger once I've completed the main storyline and/or Dorian's romance arc?

I'm even thinking it can only occur early on in the main storyline since that was when I couldn't or wouldn't get any party banter, and I've only been trying to get all of that relatively late into the game.

Just wanted to call attention to an article on Dorian that DG linked from his twitter.
My boyfriend in Dragon Age: Inquisition broke my heart when he told me he was gay. (Lol @ title)

It's a fun read, but I did get an answer to an earlier question I posed when the author talked about the "You led me on" star option. Now I wish I had picked it! I'll be playing my girl again in the future so I don't feel the need to go back several hours of play just to see this, but damn is it tempting.

... when I chastised him for leading me on, he said he’d stop if I wanted, but that he really liked me as a friend, and that he felt our flirtatious banter was a part of that.

Also of note are the comments regarding The Iron Bull romance, which as usual are yet another take and quite contrary to those upset posts in that other thread.

Alright... I know this will seem absurd, but I've been trying to figure out how Dorian's outfit works. I did the same thing with Fenris a few years ago [his is just a batman belt over a tunic, which is attached to gauntlets via buckles + skin-tight pants]. Dorian's is way more complicated and I have no idea how he gets dressed or undressed.

Although I don't know what they're attached to, his pants are pretty straight forward. On top of those are knee and shin guards attached to boots that are fastened with side buckles.

His entire upper body is a mystery. Image in spoiler tag below.

There are 4 main leather straps.

1 Green

2 Red

3 Purple

4 Blue

* Red and Green are attached to each other via the Yellow anchor.

* Purple is attached to the main leather of the armor and serves no function that I can see.

* Red doesn't seem to serve any function either.

* The straps and ties in Orange also seem to have no function.

* Blue is his main belt on the hips that goes on last, which you can see when he is wearing actual armor. On this belt are two books (b1 and b2) and what I think might be a flask**. Blue is attached to the Yellow anchor via a chain going from the book (b1) to the anchor in the Pink circle.

I had been thinking that the light-colored parts on the chest were a separate layer over a cloth tunic (with collar), but then they would have to be attached to the pants in some way. The more I look at it and imagine it with without the belts and straps, the more it looks as if this is just a single body suit.

** It's interesting to compare Dorian's mage armor to that of the Inquisitor. The Inquisitor has a book, but just one. The Inquisitor also has a vial, which I assumed to be lyrium; perhaps that is what is in Dorian's flask -- no, despite the previous conversations here, I doubt he actually has booze in it, he's not Oghren. The Inquisitor also has a knife, and Dorian does not.

"i`m wearing lots of belts. For no reason at all" - Jinx, LoL.

To me it looks like they just took the base shirt\whatever that is and slapped the belts on top of it, randomly. Kinda.
