I don't have the patch yet but really excited to see if the Dorian romance would finally register after he initiates the kiss //swoons// Like really, that's basically everything I've been waiting for. So yeah, waiting to hear more from you guys!

I haven't gotten to the alternative kiss yet. But I do know for certain that Dorian's letter cut scene and Giselle quest is fixed.  I had a female elf who could not activate the quest at all. I exhausted all convo with Dorian. But directly after the patch I ran upstairs and clicked on Dorian, bam cut scene and Giselle. I'm now playing on my human male again to romance Dorian as intended and I do plan to take the alternate kiss route. I'll keep my fingers crossed and report in.

If you don't pick the flirt option during the aftermath of Dorian's personal quest, the first kiss doesn't occur. After that you'll get the scene with Giselle bickering with Dorian because there are rumours about you two being 'intimate'. If you choose the flirt option then, Dorian will initiate the kiss instead.

Wow, he *really* was playing hard to get with my Quizzy - Matteo didn't get a kiss until he brought back the amulet...or is the timing different in a romance? Because my femquizzy got the Mother Gisele lecture after Last Resort...(still pouting that she doesn't get Magister's Birthright - she wants to help her bff!)

What's the alternate kiss route?

Dorian kisses the IQ first.  Flirt with him at least once in game, more if you desire. But if you avoid the heart Icon "Good things" once you're back at skyhold after confronting his father you will still get the Giselle/Dorian argument.  When she leaves and Dorian informs you about the rumors, click the heart icon "That's not so bad" it will lead to an exchange in which Dorian kisses the IQ first. You may then have to talk to Dorian again to establish a relationship.

Oh it's definitely worth it. I prefer it instead of the normal kiss path. I love how Dorian steps forward decided to kiss inquisitor.  This video shows the scene and the flirt to skip if anyone wanna see it. They don't kiss in front of Mother Giselle though.

Also, i did this alternate kiss route to initiate the romance before patch 3 and i didn't have any problem. I did the amulet quest and the sex scene after that without problem and also got banters about romance so it doesn't seem bugged to me.

Personally I looove Dorian making the first move but then again, the personal quest aftermath has the right mood for it, kind of. It feels more intimate and I just love the content look and the tiniest smile the Inquisitor gives to his new lover. SOB.

Jumping in (hello Dorian thread!) to say that the alternate kiss scene worked for me, pre-patch, without seeming to derail the romance. I still had the repeatable kiss & the game acted normally. However, since I'd heard some things I was afraid it would bork like twenty hours down the line, so I re-loaded and went with the first kiss. Which was more my Trev's style, anyway, even though I love the after-Giselle kiss more. I actually love them both, for different reasons. Now I have a bunch of save points though, so I can go replay the kiss whenever I want! muwahahahhahaha. For science, I mean. And maybe flycam purposes. You know, normal stuff like that. <.<

 

I might've played both scenes over about ten times before moving on, since I must see every dialogue option and then I have to go back and play my favorite option to end the scene. And maybe once more for good measure, just because.

 

For the amulet scene I tried every line (and every line that came after, since it led directly to bedroom smexy times), and then after about two hours of replaying the scenes, I went back to an earlier save and haven't even done it for real. I want to savor the knowledge that it's still going to happen. (In the meantime, I can savor screenshots.)

I prefer Dorian kissing my IQ first.  My IQ is sort of shy and insecure and I also like it when the companion gets the ball rolling instead of me having to lead the relationship. I don't even flirt with Dorian until I pick the "I've more than heard of it" dialogue when coming out to him and his father. I like it cause it doesn't even sound like flirting, just my IQ admitting that he is also gay. I also like to think of it as my IQ showing Dorian some support. So picking the flirt icon when we first get back to skyhold has my IQ acting too OOC for me. Walking up on Dorian and kissing him like that. The second heart is my shy IQ sort of dipping his foot in the water to see if there is a chance with Dorian, and of course it pays off.

That option can take so many meanings, too.

 

For my rogue, "more than just heard of it" means he's done it. He's not shy about sex. For my mage, it means "I'm actually interested in men, too" but doesn't mean he's slept with anyone before. I do like how Dorian doesn't assume WHICH one your mean.

 

My save is right before going into the tav, I may load it and try that route. Mage hasn't flirted at all, ever, so I'll have to take that choice, not flirt back at the keep, and then see if I still get the alternate kiss option. Last time I tried it seemed not to work? I don't remember, it's been a while.

Aww, this is why I like the forums so much - I love hearing how other people roleplay different situations with differents characters. Honestly, that's really heart-warming. I need more shy Inquisitors in my game.

I also love how that line of dialogue can carry so many meanings. My first IQ was feisty and straightforward, very much experienced in sex. So "I've more than heard of it" was like "Awww yeah!"   He was more than happy to walk up on Dorian and get those sweet lips on his the first chance he got.  He also made Dorian walk out on his father. lol!! My shy IQ always gets Dorian to work it out, even if it isn't a complete resolution.

Man, I'd like to pick this route, but some of those initial flirts are so great, they're hard to pass up. But... I guess I'd then be able to see him get all defensive on my IQ's behalf, which will be sexy.

I like the alternate kiss path primarily for the mini banter they have before the kiss. That is just the best and SO in-character for Dorian.

Of course, with this path you also get to pick the "I think you're brave" response during the first dialog, and Dorian's reaction to that is so wonderful.
