**Quick question:
Does anyone know the timeline of Dorian coming to the South?
Ex: I thought it was this:
Dorian works for Alexius (perhaps a deal with Halward?)
Dorian fights with father and leaves home. But stays in Tevinter. (pre conclave explosion)
Develops time magic (Post conclave explosion)
Dorian finds out about Alexius and the Venatori
Quits working for Alexius.
Dorian heads South.
Or is it:
Dorian fights with father and leaves home (pre conclave explosion)
Gets a job with Alexius.
Develops time magic (post conclave explosion)
Finds out about Ventaori and quits.
Heads South to stop Alexius.
I'm really confused because in the banter with Cole:
It seems to suggest that Dorian headed South right after his fight with his father.
So would it be: I might settle on this as it makes my brain hurt a little less. lol!
Dorian works for Alexius (Pre conclave explosion)
Dorian develops time magic (post conclave explosion)
Dorian finds out about Alexius and Venatori
Dorian gets into fight with father and leaves home
Dorian heads South.
I think that Dorian working for Alexius and creating time magic happened before the Conclave. The fight with his father was ongoing, though the final straw probably happened during the period after Dorian and Alexius went their separate ways. Then, Dorian left to fight the Venatori. He may actually have left Tevinter prior to the Conclave, depending on when Alexius hooked up with the Venatori. IMHO, fighting with his father had little to nothing to do with his going south.

I'm really confused because in the banter with Cole:
- Cole: Why did you leave your home, Dorian?
- Dorian: You know why. I had to stop the Venatori.
- Cole: It was more...it was the man with your eyes...angry, walking on cobblestones, 'I'm on my own now'
- Dorian: Digging around in my head again, are you?
- Cole: You said I could ask questions!
- Dorian: (Sigh.) Rather like inviting someone into your house and they walk off with the silverware!

Well we also know he was in the Anderfels for a while, I figured the time line was
Dorian works for Alexius
Dorian develops time magic
Dorian fights with father and leaves
Dorian contacts Alexius and learns about Venatori
Dorian spends some time in Anderfels, (we know he has spent some time in Anderfels and it was implied that he was the one they were talking about in that novel which would put him there in 9:38) but remains in contact with Felix
Conclave explodes
Dorian heads to Redcliffe
He may have gone back after spending time in the Anderfels because he hated it there, but that is what I think the timeline looks like.
ah, I forgot that the Venatori could have been working with Cory before the conclave explosion! lol! D'oh!
But wasn't the time magic developed because of the rifts?
I also had no idea Dorian was in the Anderfels, what novel?
I'm pretty sure they were working on the time travel magic for quite a while, it's just that they couldn't get it to work until the Breach happened.

Successful time magic was because of the rifts, Dorian had been working on the theory. Also, he talks about Anderfels, how miserable it was and how the wine was terrible there. As for the novel, it is a bit of a stretch, but Mae talk about in "Until We Sleep", she mentions a rumor of a magister who had been exiled to Anderfels who has the ability to graft spirit to flesh to create life, necromancy. Of course, we know Dorian wasn't exiled and isn't a magister, but if she hadn't met him yet it could explain why she got some of the details wrong.
Ah cool! Thanks guys!
This is really helpful. *bows low*
I've seen some mention of Mae on the forum but never knew who that was beyond the war table. I will be looking up more about her.
I had the impression that events went:
-Dorian and Alexius develop time magic and build the Amulet in Minrathous.
-Alexius' wife is killed and Felix is sickened in a Darkspawn attack en route to Hossburg.
-Alexius loses his will to continue working. He and Dorian argue and go their separate ways.
-Dorian returns home and is arranged to be married. He refuses.
-Halward attempts the blood ritual, Dorian confronts him and becomes estranged from his family.
-Alexius finds Dorian drinking himself into a stupor at a tavern and extends an offer to join the Venatori. Dorian refuses.
-The Wrath of Heaven
-Dorian arrives at Redcliffe.
-In Hushed Whispers
I think that's it! Thank you! I was wondering how Dorian and Felix could form such a close friendship if Dorian was working for Alexius for only a short time. This explains the close friendship, the time magic, and how Cole connects Dorian's departure to South after the fight with his father. *Whew* ![]()
Hey there, Dorian fans!
Just wanted to share something random with you. So a couple of days ago I've been in a store and saw something that made me laugh uncontrollably ![]()

I love the picture. Also I found a picture of the Inquisitor and Dorian after 30 years.
I am totally going to ship this.
There is some really good stuff out there for that ship particularly this artist http://elmroko.tumbl...rust-believe-it
This really makes me wish that werewolves was a specialization.

This really makes me wish that werewolves was a specialization.
I think they just need more Werewolves (especially cute and fluffy ones like Cullen there...of course...bioware really doesn't do cute and fluffy). Nature of the Beast was one of my favorite missions in Origin.
No, the kiss isn't in front of Giselle, although that would have been awesome!
Aaaaand I am now forever going to head canon my IQ and Dorian making a game out of trying to upset Giselle with PDA at every opportunity. Probably have to make a less shy Trevelyan for it though..
Man, I'd like to pick this route, but some of those initial flirts are so great, they're hard to pass up. But... I guess I'd then be able to see him get all defensive on my IQ's behalf, which will be sexy.
What to do?!
I like the alternate kiss path primarily for the mini banter they have before the kiss. That is just the best and SO in-character for Dorian.
Of course, with this path you also get to pick the "I think you're brave" response during the first dialog, and Dorian's reaction to that is so wonderful.
'Tis indeed a tough decision. Dilemmas dilemmas.
Dorian/Cullen would be cute, although the reaction would be great:
Inquisitor: Anything to report?
Leliana: Dorian and our Commander are an item now.
Inquisitor: I'll be in my quarters.
My inquisitor would probably reply with something more along the lines of: "Well then. We may need to be looking for a new general in the near future." *Grabs staff and leaves in a jealous huff.*
