Whoa, there is a Noble option for dealing with Ponchard??? I have only played nobles and have never once had that option? Is it another bug?

Yea I did that option this playthrough and it was funny. A little weird though because you are basically bullying the dude into giving the amulet back, but then if he had just let Dorian buy it back that would have been avoided.

And I just finished this pt and I have quick question about the end. In my two other PTs (where I didn't romance him) he said at the end he was going to stay because this was where his best and only friend is. On this PT at the end he said he's decided to go back to Tevintor... which surprised me and made me sad. Is that something he always says when romanced or is that because I told him I would understand if he did go back after the Temple of Mythal? Like I get him feeling he needs to go back dude ><

Were you always a mage? I'm pretty sure only warriors and rogues and threaten to slander him. Also, he's extorting you and Dorian. I don't at all feel bad about it.

my Dalish rogue attempted to intimidate him and failed. He had to agree to do him a favor. One of my Qunari (I think the rogue) intimidated him and got the amulet immediately. The Dalish is played as kind and snarky, the Qunari is played as more of a hardass. I am guessing it might depend on what kind of tone you tend to pick?

I have some good news and I have some bad news.

The good news is that I know what I am going write for my Dorian story, and it would actually be a story rather than a compilation of smutty oneshots*although there will be love-making...perhaps*. The bad news is that I don't know when I will be able to start it and fully direct my attention to it.

It's going to be set before Alexius' family got attacked by darkspawn, so Dorian would still be being trained by him. Basically an elven slave is going to steal his heart...but it's not a happy/fluff fic. There will be angst and even abuse at some point, so it will be dark with heavy romance aspects.

Oh, the joys of being a Carta dwarf:

Dorian: What is it with the Carta and the threat of breaking someone's knees?

Cadash: We're dwarves? We're close to the knees of most people.

Dorian: Fair point.

Ah okay. I was always a mage. That sucks. I can conjure freaking demons! I should be able to threaten him. *kick rocks*

True, but at the end of the day you still get that piece of ass...so...give and take, lol!

A part of me actually likes helping out Ponchard (picking Josie at war table). I always headcanon my IQ calling on him in the future like a Vampire Lord.

He just has future minion written all over him.

Considering I have only ever completed that quest once, and that was with my snarky archer....well in my mind the intimidation went like this.

"Aww, you are trying to be a social-climber? Well, I'm not helping you at all. So, either give my almost-lover's amulet back or your brains will be filled with a thousand little arrows. Your choice."

So, I don't know if anyone else has romance Dorian with Cadash, but... wow. I knew going into it that the dwarf and qunari animations can be dodgy, but I was not prepared for this. They don't even animate it. They just crash zoom in so close you can't even tell what you're looking at anymore, like those pictures of butt cracks that are actually someone's elbow. Like, look at this from the "how bad does the Inquisitor want to be" moment.

Yeah it sucks that they didn't just animate the scenes differently. I just loved how Dorian grew several feet taller than my Qunari just to get that  *Dorians whispers seductively in IQ's ear* moment.

Today I learned that Dorian is a unisex name, works for either gender.

Oddly enough, I think you could have Lady Dorian without too much actually changing story arc-wise. Although there would be no glorious mustache.

I would approve of female Dorian if that means Cassandra becomes a gay guy in order to restore the cosmic balance. Because gay man Cassandra Caspian would be

Ok, Dorian troll thread is fun.

We did good work! I'm proud of us. B) I just wish I had more Dorian screenshots to use on the thread. xD I could dip into my Iron Bull collection, but I only want to slightly traumatize the homophobes, not put them in the hospital with heart palpitations.

Tip: for instant quest completion as a Trevelyan pick the special noble option. (I don't recommend killing the guy, although D's response is humorous, if displeased.) I actually think that the noble is the best option here. Granted the "do you know who I am?" schtick is groan-worthy, but it yields the best results. Dorian only slightly disapproves because you're going against his wishes in interfering, you get the amulet immediately, and you don't let this POS get rewarded for bad behavior, which is what happens if you agree to the terms.

Meh, I don't like playing human nobles at the best of times. Just calI me Sera. I like human noble characters as companions, friends and love interests, but I don't want to play as them myself.

To be honest though, I'm playing my male Lavellan as being much more mellow and forgiving than my female Lavellan. She'd kill anyone that looked at her friends cross-eyed. He's willing to give second chances or swallow his pride to help people he doesn't like if it means helping his friends. I mean, he's already recruited the Sword Coast bandit leader that killed his men, let the fake compte you have lunch alongside Josephine with go, elevated the family that wanted her dead up to nobility so they would call off the contract, and let the noble in Sera's personal quest walk away (although he regretted it soon after; when Sera bawled him out back at the tavern, he instantly agreed it wasn't the best choice).

Given my male Lavellan's track record, he's willing to swallow a little pride and help a weasel get into the nobility if it means getting his beloved's amulet back. I kind of see my Lavellan as the kind of guy that'll buy an overpriced painting, knowing he's being ripped off, because he knows it'll make his beloved happy.

The way my Lavellan dealt with it, was on the war table he chose the option to just pull some strings to temporarily make the jerk believe he was getting his membership, only long enough to get the amulet sent to him.

He probably would have liked to have been there when the guy got kicked out afterwards. He's always rather spiteful towards those who try to manipulate him in any way. >.>

Hahaha, Ponchard just really pushed my buttons so hard. It's funny having the option to make him think he's getting what he wants, but I don't recall which war table route I went. Does he come back to haunt you if you do it sneaky?

Not necessarily, you also have the option of only making him think you've given his recommendation if you pick Leliana. I've never taken that one so it might not actually work but it seems like a really nice kind of payback for his dickishness. But it's nice to know a Qunari isn't the only background with a special option there.

EDIT:

Also, for those of you who've played non-mage humans, what do people find objectionable about you? It's the only background I haven't even tried yet because it just seems so mainstream. If the Chantry had to actually go and choose a Herald I imagine it would be someone exactly like the non-magical human. I need fringe status dammit!

I believe I read somewhere that you have to play a warrior for the intimidation to work. That or a character with dodgy morals.

This reminds me of an amusing bit of dialogue qunari mages get with Josephine at the beginning of the game about their mercenary exploits. Mages get to recount a tale of threatening to summon demons and actually summoning wisps to scare a bunch of bandits off.

Nah, it worked for my rogue, I wouldn't say he had dodgy morals either. Unless allying with the Templars is seen as dodgy/grey? That's the only thing I did before then that could possibly be seen that way.

For me it was like this:

Intimidation didin't work for Dwarf, Elf and Human Mage

Intimidation worked for Human Rogue and Qunari

I'm playing as a dwarf rogue who's a bit of a hardass, but I didn't even try the intimidation one. The only other time I've not played as a human rogue while romancing Dorian, I was a human mage who was also a bit of a hardass (I like hardasses) and it didn't work, so I had just assumed it would always fail until you guys started discussing it.

Have you seen the gorgeus pictures of Dorian wearing the flower crown helmet? Now I just need to know where to find it myself :>>
