He tells Cassandra that he was always begging his parents to take him to see a necropolis when he was a little boy and he's initially sounds boyishly excited to discuss spirits with Solas when he finds out Solas also has an interest in them. So, I always assumed it was for passionate intellectualism in the same way being fascinated by dinosaurs as a child would makes someone want to become a paleontologist as an adult.

Dorian might be a fatalistic guy (No seriously, he brings up death quite a bit, dark humor and all that.) but at least he's not one of those necromancers like Quentin.

That we know of. In a dark AU the Inquisitor is assassinated at their wedding ceremony and dies in Dorian's arms and Dorian can't accept it and so starts the dark reign of Zombiquisitor. Besides groomzilla would never allow something as quaint as death to interrupt his special day.

Yeah, I prefer the second option too. It's not really a shy thing, I guess I tend to play as a bit aggressive in general, but it's nice to have the interest reciprocated a little bit.

This is how I think about it too. My IQ is certainly not shy -- he's been flirting with Dorian up until this point -- but I like to think that after the whole mess with Halward that he's apt to want to be a little more cautious because of all of the strong feelings surrounding that.

 

I tend to feel that the IQ initiating the kiss on the heels of that particular conversation is a bit... awkward? not appropriate? It seems like he's making it about him, rather than about Dorian, who is still upset and vulnerable in this moment. I would greatly prefer a hug option here**. There is also the fact that I adore the little banter before the Dorian-kiss, and it really just seems like the perfect lead up to the romance. These two have been dancing around each other all this time and Dorian just decides to go for it.

Yes, honestly the only thing i like about the IQ initiating kiss is how Dorian says with sexy voice "i see you like playing with fire, inquisitor", but the kiss itself seems like too sudden for that scene where Dorian is in sad moment, i would love a hug option too  . In the other path, the dialogue before and after Dorian's kiss is better and naughtier to me, as well as Dorian kissing IQ, that's so much hotter for me.

While I would have loved a hug option there as well, I actually liked the kiss there. I thought it was sweet and I didn't feel like it was awkward or taking advantage of the moment, but it is probably best they gave people options about how they wanted it to go.

I witnessed the Inquisitor punching Dorian in a worst world state stream and it hurt, it hurt real bad.

 

Also when I'm sad I fantasize snuggling Dorian while eating ice cream, all the while he has an awkward look on his face while thinking: "Dammit this is your influence Inquisitor."

I agree - I prefer the first kiss in terms of style (when I do the second kiss, I always end up yelling at Quizzy "At least unfold your arms, you twit, you have a sexy mage attached to your face!!!"), but yes, a hug would be nice there. As I said before (somewhere...ages ago), the direction stops it from feeling as though Quizzy is pressuring Dorian - just watch Dorian's response - yet the timing does seem a little off. I like to think my canon Trevelyan is a bit of a sweetheart, and I would definitely have made him a cuddler (Cassandra would probably need a crowbar to extricate Dorian from a particularly determined snuggle). Even a female Inquisitor would surely be inclined to give Dorian a hug after the tavern scene. 

 

Bioware should release a hug DLC. We'd download it so quickly it'd break the internet.

I always headcanon that kiss scene like Dorian grabs my skinny elfy with so much passion to kiss him that he can't even move arms lol. Which is also the reason i like it for shy characters. Because dominant Dorian is hot Dorian.

Haha yea, his romance scenes and the way he talks makes it perfect to imagine him being dominant and top. I will need that cinematic camera too so i can see him on top of elfy because so far i only saw him on top of Trevelyan.... which is also hot, but i like being elf so i'm smaller and skinnier than Dorian lol.

lol! People love telling others how to play and role play their game. I don't get it. If they personally think Dorian is the bottom in their relationship then they are welcomed to think so but what's the point in trying to make everyone else see him as a bottom too? I agree that it's really up to the player because the game gives us different options to go on. The Player can either be the aggressor or top or you can hand the role to Dorian...or imagine it going both ways. 

 

IMO, I have plenty to go on for Dorian being my IQ's top.  Dorian kissing my IQ, Dorian the one directing the sex, him laying my IQ on the bed and getting on top, and those make out scenes in the IQ's quarters (seen from another angle) Dorian is...very handsy. He's totally the aggressor to my more tamed IQ.

People who abbreviate gay men into sexual roles, even if they're gay men themselves, are the absolute worst.

 

For me, Shepard was definitely a bottom, but when it comes to Hawke/Anders and Inquisitor/Dorian, I really don't have a preference either way. So, I guess they're all versatile one way or another.

It always bothers me how their heights seem to fluctuate within scenes >< Like one moment it looks like Dorian is taller, the next they look the same height. It seriously messes with my mind >< For some of them I can just imagine Dorian is standing on his toes a little to give him the better angle, but some of them just seem all around weird. That's literally the only thing that bothered me in this romance... well that and the after Mythal discussion, but I've gone on enough about that already

Yea i usually just ignore those, because it's nonsense saying "Dorian is X" and trying to convince others that he can only be that. I mean, the default is probably that they switch, and from there, you can imagine whatever you want depending on how you roleplay your character. For example, i could make a Trevelyan that likes to switch and other that likes to bottom. With elfy, i simply can't imagine my skinny elf doing top lol, so he would always be bottom with Dorian. I think i could never make a dominant character with Dorian, simply because it's not my style. But those are just my personal preferences obviously.

 

And i'm happy there are many scenes to imagine Dorian being dominant to my elfy, like Dorian kissing first, telling him to "use me" after you give him amulet, and the way he comes to elf's quarters and goes behind him to ask him for something "more primal". I love my elf's puppy eyes in that scene lol.

I always saw Shepard as a bottom as well, though to this day I have no idea as to why. Maybe it's the whole tortured protagonist thing he's always got going on. I could never see Fenris as a bottom though, my Hawke would just feel sooo bad about that considering Fenris has probably never bottomed willingly. (He's also got the brody elf thing going for him which just screams top to me.)

 

I could never bring myself to romance anyone in the first 2 ME games though, I always reserved my Shepard for Kaidan. I might have romanced Thane if it had been an option, and I read somewhere that it was going to be but was cut for some reason which sucks, but my Shepard was head over heels for Kaidan from game 1.
