I have to say that Dorian really fired up my interest in crafting.    I had been pretty much content to go with what I was given initially.   Then I tried and failed to give Solas a better look - it really seems that unless the outfit has the word "elf" in it (like ancient elf armour and high keeper robes)  then he really doesn't wear them well.   In particular never put plaid or yellow on Solas.   Then I tried the same outfit on Dorian and he'd even make plaid look stylish.

 

So Dorian romance run I decided to concentrate on running up new outfits for him to enjoy.   First there was the off the shoulder red number but that seemed more suited to warmer areas, so then I crafted a warmer outfit for the Emprise du Lion - less flesh on show but more practical and if anything he looked even more dashing, particularly since I crafted him his own version of the Inquisitor hat.   I kept thinking old Hollywood matinee idol when I looked at him, Mark of Zorro in particular.   Of course Vivienne can do them justice as well but not in the same way as Dorian. 

 

Now we've finished the main run we can devote ourselves to doing the Hissing Wastes, which had very little bearing on the main story so I though I would leave until later this time round, and going dragon hunting, plus me crafting endless new outfits for Dorian just for the fun of it.   Well if he's putting off returning to the bright lights and warmth of Tevinter for my sake I feel I should at least try and make the effort to make life interesting for him.

Oh, yes. I crafted a new armor for Dorian a gave the old one to Solas. It was bright orange/yellow. I do not have more materials from the dragons, so I'm just trying not to look at Solas  . Well, he looks like a wet sloth in almost anything, it is not my fault  .

You can hit the "prt scn sys req" key on your keyboard an paste the image into MS Paint. Or you can use a free program called Fraps that outputs screenshots to your documents folder.

I finished the game Friday night and literally had the biggest smile on my face with Dorian called my quizzy his "best and only friend".

It is kind of sweet the relationship he has with a female Quizzy.   I was really touched when he said that about me.    Dorian was my rock when all the bad stuff with Solas started going down.    Dorian is sort of a win/win situation, he's great as a friend but also a lover.    I love him to bits.  

 

I'm not sure if I'll get my images sorted tonight.   I'm already late with dinner and I have to work tomorrow.   Still I'm grateful for the advice about Fraps because I'd really wanted to capture images of Dorian and my Lavellan lad and now I have.    I'm still on an emotional high after finishing the romance.   Happy times!

That fight is awful, but it's always good to have your priorities in the right place

You know that gay couple arguing in The Winter Palace? I totally see that being Dorian and my Trevelyan in twenty years. Only ten times more snarky.

(They always make up, of course. )

This is just a thought, but what would you think of Calpernia teaming up with Dorian on the whole quest to reform Tevinter? She might have the remains of the Venatori, but Dorian has his connections to Mae and the Senate in addition to knowledge of how the game is played in the Imperium.

Plus, despite his patriotism and good intentions Dorian is still very much a product of his environment. Calpernia's background as a slave might give him some insight into how the other side of Tevinter lives. At least both of them agree that their homeland needs to be reformed if it ever wants to regain some of its former glory.

I actually hate facial hair, especially, and body hair pretty much.  Every time my husband tries growing something out on his face, I inevitably threaten to cut it off while he's sleeping.  It's a running joke between us.  All that being said, I can't imagine Dorian without a mustache so I refuse to mod him out in anyway.  To me, his character is just unique enough he needs the 'stache.

I have found I actually prefer the friendship with Dorian more. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy his romance too- it's one of the best ones I've played through. I don't know though, maybe because my first DA:I play was as a female mage who was besties with Dorian, it's special to me. I spent that whole playthrough imagining them arguing about magic in the library, snarking at each other on missions, making fun of Vivienne, and telling each other all their secrets.

 

I think because it's one of the only friendships in the game where you really get the sense that he CARES. A lot. All of the LIs will do anything for you if you're their love interest, but Dorian will do anything for you just because you're friends. Heck, even in the playthrough where my Quizzy romanced Bull and drank from the well... Dorian was the one right there in the well with her when she came to, helping her up and expressing concern. He's just the most awesome, caring, smashingly handsome friend anyone could ask for.
