Dorian's hairstyle is a really special and sexy part of him as it is now. Even more than his moustache, in my opinion lol. I wouldn't change it for anything.

I saw his composite with the long hair and I thought he looked like one of the Three Musketeers and rather dashing. So I do like that pic,
Has this been posted yet?
art by ever amazing dakkun39
Plus, he looks exactly like he does in that moment when they first speak in the library and he throws his head back and laughs lol.
Last night I got his reaction post the Fade where he's upset because he thought my quizzy died. Need to replay it tonight - it was so sweet!!
Part of me wants to draw this out so I can enjoy all the remaining moments in the game, but I'm also dying to start my fic. I guess I can start it. I'm playing with 2 title possibilites, so it might end up being 2 fics lol. Oh well, I feel inspired.

Now if Bioware has Dorian with long hair in the next DA.
I think Dorian should definitely be the companion to get carried over to the next game! Think about it. Every DA game in the past has had one companion get carried forth to the next installment. DA:O Oghren --> DA Awakening Anders --> DA2 Varric --> DA:I Dorian --> DA4 = profit!

It is also, however, never an originally romanceable companion, since that would cause issues.
Alas, in the case of Dorian, but understandable.
(besides, if they do end up romanceable it ends badly for them... don't want that for Dorian, do we?)

I think Dorian should be in DA4. If the protagonist of DA4 is not the inquisitor, then Dorian wouldn't be a romance option obviously, but instead it would be cool to have him as companion and friend (because as we know, the friendship with Dorian is great and can be as enjoyable as romance). And also, it would be great if they make some dlc or expansion, for da3 or da4 where we can somehow continue the Dorian romance with the Inquisitor, or at least know what happens, because it feels like it needs a continuation with that thing of Dorian thinking to go to Tevinter.

If they decide to continue bring a companion forward, I would be surprised if it's not Dorian. They said they want to go north and Dorian tells you he's going north as well, eventually. Plus the fact that he's more or less fan favorite this time doesn't hurt.

They could just not make him a LI in DA4, assuming we continue the new protagonist pattern. Plus that would mean we'd have two gay men in one game as major characters. That would be amazing (and historic).

I do hope that dlc will at least allow for some new romance and general companion interactions, but should Dorian appear in future games, I expect his role would be peripheral, or sth. like Morrigan's role in Inquisition - it would have to allow for all options - recruited, ignored, romanced, friended, etc., so we can't hope for major acknowledgement. And besides, while I, personally, would love more Dorian, I don't believe he's creator's pet enough to merit this inclusion.
I might be wrong though, who knows.

They certainly made allowance for him returning to Tevinter, even if he says he has given up on the idea because Quizzy isn't there. He could make a cameo appearance working for the Inquisition and offering advice to a new PC but I doubt he'd be an actual companion if you were starting from scratch again. It was hard enough to credit Varric having suddenly become so low level through changing locations but Dorian going from powerful necromancer to humble beginner just wouldn't wash with me, unless his father had succeeded in brain washing him.
I'm hoping that we get a DLC or even better a proper expansion to DAI so we can go forward with our surviving party from this game. Having built such a good team and with over 100 power points at the end the game, it seems bit of a waste not to use them. They could introduce a couple of new companions to make up for those who are no longer with us but that would involve far less writing than inventing a whole new team of people. I know it's been said that they wouldn't do another Awakening but they may have meant with the old engine. They could do a far quicker turn around on the basis of an expansion to this game than making people wait for an entirely new one.
p.s. I've been trying to upload stuff to Deviant Art but something is going wrong so my pictures will have to wait. Sorry to disappoint anyone who wanted to see my Dorian winter collection for the fashionable man about Thedas.

I agree that it's unlikely he would have any major role in the game unless we were allowed to use our Inquisitor as pc, but I think that's probably unlikely. Personally I would be content with just about any dlc + Dorian romance banter. I am sooo guilty of playing through Legacy dlc late in act 2 of DA2 just to get this Fenris romance banter with my sarcastic Hawke:
Hawke: So, Fenris. We haven't spoken since...
Fenris: You wish to do this here? In front of everyone?
Hawke: Kinky.
Fenris: That wasn't...never mind.

I might be entirely wrong in saying this, but I've gotten the impression that David Gaider doesn't like to play favorites, with his characters or anyone else's. That's not to say that he or the writers don't have favorites, but that they have larger considerations. If they have a good story opportunity and a reason to include a certain character then they do, and if they don't then they're not included.
Game devs typically have an overarching plan for their IP and where the story/world is going. Many of the ideas never pan out or are altered significantly from their original conception. When he originally created Dorian and added the element of his returning to Tevinter there may have been some concept of a future DLC/game/etc where we do go there that would merit Dorian's inclusion. It seems to me that he left it open for this purpose. BUT nothing is guaranteed.

I have just come to accept that long-haired Dorian looks remarkably similar to the film version of Sirius Black. This is good. Very good.

^ As a huge Gary Oldman fan, I can't say I agree. (Sirius and Remus are my fav part of those novels; damn shame they weren't in them more.)
I dunno, I don't really see Dorian letting his hair grow long anyway, unless he styled it in a specific manner while long. Someone with grooming habits like his isn't likely to let them fall away or look unkempt.

As good as he looks with long hair I doubt he could ever look unkempt with it. As for Dorian reappearing. I sort of doubt it, as much as I would love it, I think the only companion getting a DLC is Solas. If we do go to Tevinter, we'll have a new PC and new companions, and Varric might be the only one returning. We'll most likely hear rumors about Dorian and/or he'll make a cameo. I guess I'm feeling pessimistic. lol!!

Dorian loves the new armor I made him. Imperial vestment cotton is the new plaidweave.
Looks good to me. IMO maroon and related colors go really well with more swarthy complexions (or even just black hair), as Dorian has. Before I got into my Inquisition color (black/gray/red) scheme armor I typically had Dorian in either Lustrous Cotton or Velveteen.
Silk Brocade is second to Plaideweave in terms of hideousness for me. It's a shame too since I really like the sapphire blue, but the pattern is terrible.

You know that gay couple arguing in The Winter Palace? I totally see that being Dorian and my Trevelyan in twenty years. Only ten times more snarky.
(They always make up, of course.)
"At the rate you're going you'll deplete the Dowager's wine cellar in a matter of hours."
"You forgot to tell me that she's been married to half of Orlais. I thought affairs of state were your forte?"
"And here I thought you were only interested in my facility with murder?"
"Don't get coy with me Amatus. There will be no living with you."

Eep, I really really hope Dorian isn't a companion in DA4. The track record of returning characters goes something like this:
Oghren slightly annoying but functional drunk...turns into a useless drunk (at best is comic relief) that is better off fed to a high dragon.
Anders fun loving happy guy...turns into possessed emotional train wreck with a death wish
Varric really chill cool guy best friend type-overly emotional and completely stripped of any cool points by allowing Bianca to literally walk all over him, use him, and discard his left overs for the inquisitor to deal with.
Dorian would probably come back via Oghren style being one drunken joke after another, especially if he was depressed cause his lover wasn't around anymore for whatever BioWarey reason.
Sorry don't mean to be bitter, but returning characters are always assassinated. Dorian is too awesome to go through that pain.

Me too, so I'm hoping for some awesome DAI DLC. I'd be really happy if some of the dlc would retcon him running off to Tevinter for example. ![]()

Hey!
So I made a Quizzy for Dorian and I am really enjoying the romance so far. He's one charming lad.
And today Inky gave him his amulet and they started kissing and then this shameless elf dude casually walks up to them and starts browsing the bookshelf. That was just WTF I couldn't stop laughing. Have you had run-ins with creeper elf too? You probably have, he doesn't seem to care about privacy.
There he is. So rude!

Who wouldn't be a little curious, right?
