I imagined he thought it would be inappropriate to seduce his mentor's son while enjoying his hospitality and tutelage.  As I understand, Felix was younger than Dorian, though I may be mistaken in that.

I think you are right that Felix is younger.  It's that line Dorian says about Felix sneaking sweets to him that gives me that impression.

Dorian does not belive he can have a relationship.

Yes!  It's that moment after the whole Adamant mission.

So the entire Felix talk here has me a little disoriented. Was there ever even any indication that Felix swings his way? Because I don't recall that, and on top of Dorian's lack of association between sex and feelings, I really don't think he'd even venture into that realm of thought with regards to someone who doesn't even play for his team, let alone his mentor's son. It is such a no go zone that it has big flashing signs, caution tape and a prison fence around it.

I agree, Dorian views on relationships was that two men never entered into them. It was pleasure and nothing more. Although he would like it to be different. With that mindset, it's hard for me to believe that he would even think of having sex with Felix. To do so would be insulting because it would be essentially getting his rocks off on a young man simply for showing him some kindness. He also seemed to admire Alexius and respected him a great deal and I doubt he would ever want to ruin that by sleeping with his son.  Especially since in his mind it would be only sex and nothing else beyond that.

And also, I agree that we have no idea if Felix likes men. Sneaking treats and "liking trouble" seems like Felix was very mischievous more than him being in love with Dorian.

Also, I'm team Dorian in white for symbolism reasons. Plus it looks good with his skin tone.

This is how I thought of it too. I attributed it to an age difference between them, with Felix being younger. Also, this playful part of Felix's personality is probably one reason they became friends in the first place. In Dorian's recounting of the thing with the treats I never got the impression that his tone was suggestive, rather that it was more bittersweet in that he was remembering Felix, who has since died, with a happy memory.

What a depressing topic this is...

I think it was -literally- an odd question for the IQ to ask, as it's awfully personal and maybe a little inappropriate? I wonder what the writers were going for there.

Oh, Felix /sigh   :(

I don't know why but that particular character just sticks out for me above and beyond any other non-companion/primary character. I wish there could have been more with him, recruiting him or something.

I just took it as my Inq being nosy. It can be pretty clear Dorian likes men, and they were great friends, so my boy just sort of wistfully wonders if there was more to it than that.

It is odd though, no doubt.

I've never asked Dorian this on my plays, I only know the response because I watched it on YouTube. I also don't ask Leliana whether she and Justinia were more than friends. To me this is way too personal and not appropriate. In this conversation especially it comes across as awkward because you've just learned that Felix has died and it's obvious that Dorian is upset about it.

Lol every time I watch the tavern scene and Dorian says that he "prefers the company of men" I just want my guy to say, "Well I hope so, after all the flirting we've been doing."

Haha yeah. I suppose it's possible for the Inq to be completely clueless and never flirt with him, so it's not obvious, so the way he talks about Felix might make some wonder (though the upset women who flirted with him and then got denied...).

Then again, some Inqs might be wondering if that's the sort of person Dorian would go after and are they as good as Felix, so it could be insecurity too, to ask about it. I think my mage would have been like "no? good, because I don't think I could live up to that." He wouldn't say it, but think it.

I love Dorian in the purple outfit.  Though never with the big rimmed hat, cause for some reason then he looks like grandma Dorian.  -shrug-

This is why I find it so sad that the option to break up with him is pretty much always available, even after you've 'locked in' the romance... and that his reaction is so... accepting. Just a 'yes, well, I knew this was coming, sooner or later... now let me drink myself into oblivion' and that's after you told him you wanted more, and now tell him you actually don't. Heartbreaking.

which is why I can only watch it on youtube

Look all the reasons given for why he wouldn't even consider a relationship with Felix are valid.    It's that word "seduce" that gets me.    The sub-text comes across as I wanted to but for reasons of good manners I didn't.    Well, if that was the case, then surely he did have such feelings for Felix?    I do not doubt that he loved him as a friend.  I will just have to accept that he has an odd way of expressing his sense of honour.      I really didn't want to upset anyone over this.    Just rejoice in the fact that Dorian finally finds out it is possible to have a relationship with someone you both love and enjoy having sex with.

^ I don't think any of us are "upset" over it. Some of us don't necessarily agree with your perspective on things (that's OK!), but we all like to discuss Dorian. That's why we're here. So don't take any of this discussion too personally.

I tend to use many of these discussions to refine my own opinions on things as I'm forced to write them out in a clear and concise manner. I will also occasionally come away with a new perspective on something. It's one reason I enjoy this thread so much, and indeed why it is the main thread I visit on these forums.

Glad that's okay then.   Another question.   As I've mentioned, I'm replaying my Lavellan with Dorian on the alternative mage path, so have done Hushed Whispers and as a result get Dorian at Haven, have the opportunity to chat and flirt, etc, before we get to Skyhold.    When I take the Inquisitor sword and take the option "an elf will stand for us all", I get slight approval from Solas, disapproval from Sera, and slight approval from Dorian.   I'm almost certain I haven't had that before either with my girl Lavellan with whom I did my previous mage run or on the Templar run with this guy.     Is it because we've been through time together and I've flirted with him as a guy?   I found it rather touching that he is already supporting me as a proud elf but have this feeling that perhaps he does that with every race.   Does he in fact show his approval on every option, apart from the "doing it for myself one" if you have already flirted with him?    I'd be really interest to know.

Update: I've been to check the Wiki and found that he only approves certain responses but the elf one is the only race specific one.   I must have missed it first time round.   Sometimes those approvals flash through and I blink and miss one.       Wow, what do you suppose lies behind that approval then?   As I say, it's rather touching and what with that and our time experience together, I think this time round my guy will succumb to Dorian's charms that much more easily but I'm still intrigued why he shows support for the elf declaration.    I know later in a conversation with Solas he mentions how he feels guilty about what Tevinter did to Arlathan.   Is that it?

Aww, I got my dance last night at the end of the ball.  It was very sweet.  The thing that strikes me about the Dorian relationship (and not to say this isn't true of the other romances, but i feel it strongest with Dorian) is that they are not only lovers but really good friends.  He's very supportive as well as gallant as he asks my Quizzy to dance.

Oh and for some reason, there's a different angle to the shot of the love interest walking out to the balcony that I did not see in my last 2 playthroughs.  With Blackwall and Josie, they were filmed from the side as they look at Morrigan and kind of shake their heads in confusion.  Dorian's was a front shot, so you see his clear expression and that sideways glance he gives Morrigan is sort of priceless lol.  It was a pleasant surprise.

Someone was asking about Dorian's singing voice?

I've had this album for quite a few years now.  For a man who claims he's never had formal voice training (outside his family being musical) he's quite the natural.  I'm not really a fan of Jazz Funk but I've long been fascinated by Tikaram since he debuted on the telly.  So I went for it.

Also for all those interested he narrated the Gameworld audio books.  (The Simoquin Prophecies, The Manticores Secret, The Unwaba Revelations)  I've seen them on Amazon and iTunes.  They are Eastern flavored Sci Fi-Fantasy novels.  Flying carpets, fun stuff.  A bit of spoof.  Lots of fun.  Most importantly, I put it on and I have Dorian reading me a bedtime story :P

I apologize if these books have already been mentioned.  There is so much Dorian love in this thread it's hard to read everything.

Does anyone else automatically think a certain uncomplimentary word that may, or may not be flitting through Dorian's head when he glances sidelong at Morrigan on his way by?  I've had that humorous impression since the first play through.  It can't be just me.
