Silverite heavy armor and fade-touched silk brocade:

Nice!  My thanks to all of you who chipped in to solve this mystery for me.  Including the material crafting tip.  I'd never come across a situation where materials could change wearability so it never crossed my mind.  Which is nice since it's highly doubtful I'd add a mod. One to remove a mustache is benign enough but I'm not generally a mod user.

Wait, you need a reason to post more Dorian pics?   When did that happen?

But what if you need more? You always need more.

Also, Dorian greatly disapproves:

Good grief, Dr. Doctor.  You've forced Dorian into the Dragon Age equivalent of Loud MacLeod.  The disapproval of half of Thedas is scrolling up your screen.

No.  Dorian does not wish to discuss how much his book bag clashes with his ensemble. Let. It. Be!

DorianArmor_zpsa09d7bd7.jpg

This screenshot celebrates the end to a successful evening.  Even if the happy couple are in the midst of a spat.

1.  Dorian's grown back the mustache.  It's much too cold in the south to go without it.
2.  Dorian's finally wearing the armor I've been looking for, with the aid of many helpful folks here.  Not the best color but good for now.
3.  Successfully tweaked my Inquisitor's hair values from outside the game.  The forced red hair he's had since November is now replaced with the dark hair I prefer.  I'm still not satisfied but it's a similar shade to Dorian's without turning bright blue in sunlight.  I can live with it.

No excuse? Then here's always one of my favorite moments with Dorian (though I assume it will look even better with Dorian in black):

I thought Dorian could look stylish in anything, but I was wrong. I didn't even know you could get that many materials to be visible on a set of armor.

Don't have any good Dorian fashion pics, but one fashion memory will always put a smile on my face.

  • Dorian: Come on, just answer the question, Varric.
  • Varric: My mother didn't raise any morons, Sparkler, I won't touch that one.
  • Dorian: You must have an opinion. And you're a dwarf! Completely unbiased!
  • Varric: There's no way I'm answering "Which Inquisition mage is the best-dressed?" Not for all the gold in Orzammar.

And Dorian was wearing that hideous plaidweave robe from the Still Ruins!

I laughed so hard, and thought, "Dorian, honey, when you're fishing for complements on your wardrobe, ask when you're not wearing snot-yellow and brown plaidweave!" Sometimes his vanity and confidence really does get the best of him.  :P

I think Dorian is of the mind that he improves anything he wears.  So, he thinks he's conquered plaid weave when no one else could.  Even Vivienne.

Dorian: Cole, are those real clothes, or...?
Cole: They're real. What else would they be?
Dorian: I thought maybe you conjured them. Like your physical form.
Cole: Do you conjure yours? Is that why they look like that?
Dorian: Never mind. Forget I said anything

Plaid and polka-dots have most certainly conquered Dorian.  The Inquisitor should put his foot down about what Dorian gets out of the castle with. There are enough rifts in the fade already.  Josephine's already restricted him from the wine cellar so he should be familiar with what NO means by now.

That is because nobody expected that someone would dress poor Dorian in plaidweave.

I like the conversation I had with Vivienne when I asked her what she thought of the others.   She immediately saw right through me.  "What you really want to know is what I think of your Tevinter paramour."   Was I really so transparent?     Then after saying didn't really know enough about him, she came up with approving his fashion sense, which from Vivienne I have to admit is high praise.    Having Dorian and Vivienne in the same party did improve the overall look tremendously.   They make an awesome mage combination as well.   My dragon slaying team comprises Iron Bull, Dorian, Vivienne and my archer Lavellan.

About the Final Battle; Does Corypheus only taunt Dorian with being a traitor to Tevinter if he is your love interest or does he do this regardless provided he is in your party?

Ask her about him closer to the end of the game and her response is different and is just adorable :) I've heard Cory taunt Dorian with that when I wasn't romancing him.

I've been back to see her just before Doom Upon the World and I keep getting the Tevinter Paramour/Fashion speech.   I wonder what you have to do/say to get something different?    Tried both before final speech with Dorian and after, so it can't be that.    I keep missing out on speeches that other people get.

Please, what does she say?

Interesting... I wonder if it is dependent on your approval with her? My Dorian pt was the one pt I had where she actually really liked me, though I think that was mostly due to the fact I drank from the well. Anywho, this is what she said:

"You of course mean your Tevinter Paramour Dorian; he's quite charming. I can see how he's managed to steal your heart."

Dorian and my FemAdaar are like soulmate/best friends who constantly flirt and compliment each other. After his personal quest, a FemQuizzie can confront him about being flirty with her and he'll apologize if he hurt her (he's so sweet). But when he said he'd stop the flirting I picked "Don't you dare!" His response was priceless.

Ah, drinking from the well.   That's what I didn't do.   She was still always pleased to see me but I hadn't taken the plunge so to speak.    You'd think she'd be pleased that the Inquisitor hadn't risked himself but I guess her mistrust of Morrigan was greater.    You really can't win with that quest as far as companion approval is concerned.  A lot of them don't want you to drink, won't drink themselves but disapprove if you let Morrigan drink.    I take Solas with me on that one, along with Dorian, as my two mages so don't get Vivienne's input.    Still as I've previously explained, it is Dorian's fear of losing me to the well that informs my decision, so I guess I'll never get that little snippet of approval from Vivienne about our relationship.   Oh well, c'est la vie: Dorian's approval is more valuable to me anyway.

Yea, I was worried about how much Dorian disapproved when I did it and saved in case it was too much. But he's really just worried for you and otherwise he is fine. Though after you drink right before you wake-up you hear him cuss in tevinter and then he says "If you don't come through this I swear I'll kill you" which was simultaneously funny and made me feel bad for worrying him. If you want to hear it here's a video, it's at about 9:50, also if you are curious what Vivianne says about the well she was there too :)

Potential minor spoiler if you've never drank from the well but if you don't plan to do it then read for a cool Dorian moment :)

Thank you for that.   I still have no regrets, particularly after I met Mythal.   Somehow reading all that alternate elven history, being insulted by Abelas and both Solas and Dorian declining to drink, plus his affection for Dorian, made my Lavellan felt it just wasn't worth the risk to himself, particularly as Morrigan was so eager to do so and he felt she was genuine in wanting to stop Corypheus, which was the aim in drinking from the well.    Vivienne thinking the anchor would at least partially protect from the effects of the well is interesting since I'd never considered that.   Still it evidently had no bearing since Morrigan survives it without the anchor.

As a matter of interest did it impact on Dorian's decision to stay with you rather than return to Tevinter?

I also note this is the version in which Vivienne lights up instead of the Inquisitor, which I now gather was a wholly unintentional effect on the part of the team.
