Maybe I should start doing this. Last few playthroughs I've been buying Skyhold decorations but most of them are pretty meh... And I always end with sooooooo much gold ><

I normally just stick with the Inquisition heraldry, but this time around I bought some other things to test out different combinations. I like the Dalish II drapes with the Inquisition banners -- I'm a minimalist sort of gal and dislike all those tassels and crap. I bought the Orlesian III bed; the carved wood is elegant without being ostentatious, and although I do like it a lot, the lack of pillows annoys me. I do keep the Inquisition throne and windows as the idea of using anything else seems odd, and keep the basic decorations.

I would use the Serault windows if I had ever bothered to finish The Last Court, but I found that so utterly NOT FUN that I never bothered. I only got as far as getting the Serault Glass crafting material.

I guess Dorian was right when he called me "austere."

I've found I connect with more characters in this game than the last ones...

Welcome to the Dorian thread, the bestest around.

The disparity of opinions on these forums never ceases to amuse me. You have the fan threads where people gush about whichever character or make general comments like this, and then other threads bemoaning the fact that all of the companions are boring or cliche and that they were much better developed in DAO/2 and so on.

I fell the same about a lot of the design, I like things pretty simple. Have you tried the dalish windows though? They are really pretty but still very simple. I also always use the Fereldan decor because wolves everywhere :D

The thrones are something which bother me a lot. I don't like any of them really :/ They all feel out of place to me :(

I thought about this while I was riding the train into work this morning... On my first Dorian character I got the idea in my head I'd do the Tevinter decor to make the place a bit more "homey" for him. I set it and went into the main hall... and literally five seconds later I had to change it. It's so opulent >< I couldn't stand it, which made me feel sad but I can't do that, not even for Dorian :(

Thank God for homoerotic movies from my childhood.

At first The Road to El Dorado was going to be a movie for an older audience (think Adult Swim) with Tulio and Miguel being an actual couple.

This was before "adult animation" was a thing so the execs had it retooled into a kids movie.

Hehe, I love the Tevinter decor... I went with the 'it's for Dorian to feel comfortable...' excuse with my Inquisitor, who - being a goody-goody Chantry pleasing Templar - really shouldn't have goaded poor Mother Giselle with any more Tevintery stuff, Maker knows him banging Dorian got on her nerves enough, but I just couldn't resist it... The opulence! The chairs!  :P

I like the Tevinter Decor, it looks kinda vampiric and i like those dragon head statues and the black and red rugs with the Tevinter dragon symbols... but maybe i'm too influenced by Dorian.   I had the Ferelden decor on my female char and it's not bad, but i didn't see much change in the main hall, and i think the statues are supposed to be doggies.  :) As for the thrones, i guess my favourites are Ferelden, Inquisition and Dragon Maw.

I searched for ages to find the merchant who sold  the decor only to eventually learn you just get it at some point. I went my entire first (and so far only) playthrough without any decor. I don't know what they look like yet. My heraldry and banners are always Inquisition themed though, it feels weird to fly another flag. Same with the thrones, even though I find the normal Inquisition chair REALLY boring after a while, I have trouble headcanoning how dignitaries and nobles would find me sitting on a giant Tevinter themed mage throne with it being common knowledge that I'm also shacking up with a 'Magister' acceptable.

As for the bedroom. Wheeee I finally unlocked Serault Glass! I hope. I'm gonna be so pissed if I finished that game and it didn't upload properly to the Keep. The only bed I find acceptable is Orlesian Bed 3. Even though it has no pillows. I like how it implies that either it gets used a lot or that the Inquisitor really dislikes a made bed.

Did The Last Court take very long? Was it a terrible chore? I kinda want the glass, if only because must own ALL the things, but I may actually be too lazy if it takes too much effort...

For the Tevinter decor you could justify it as being a subtle way of mocking Corypheus.

Which would mean that you'd have Skyhold decorated that way "ironically". The Orlesians might buy it, but I disapprove.

It's not terrible, I especially liked the writing/descriptions. I got the vibe that it wasn't intended to be something you invested an awful lot of time/effort in. If you log in once or twice a day and spend your event cards I think you should have more than enough stuff to win at the end. The most annoying part was the waiting. Unless you spend real world dosh you have to wait 5 (I think?) days before you can wrap it up.

I always put everything to Tevinter too. Not because it reflects my personal taste, but because Mother Giselle is my third least favorite character in all of Dragon Age after Sebastian and the Requisition Officer and I'll take any opportunity to metaphorically tell her to **** off.

They probably are supposed to be doggies, but either way I love it :) Wolves are my favorite animal and dogs are close second there, so it makes me happy to have them around.

I have sort of mixed feelings about the thrones. Like I said I dislike all of them, but I dislike the andrastean one, the dragon one, and the Orlais one the least. So it's usually one of those for me. The Dragon one feels the least weird because I always go dragon hunting so it feels like it fits more than the others.

I searched for ages to find the merchant who sold  the decor only to eventually learn you just get it at some point. I went my entire first (and so far only) playthrough without any decor. I always have a bit of a weird feeling putting up different banners and heraldry for that reason. Using different windows and decor feels less odd to me though. Orleasian Bed 3 ftw :) I can't even begin to like any of the others for a variety of reasons >< And I really like the not made part because irl I am really anti making the bed ;)

So The Last Court... what exactly is this and what do you have to do?

Don't get me wrong, I the past games weren't bad mind you.... you just tend to get more involved with these characters which I really appreciate personally. I don't find the characters cliche and they're pretty damn entertaining. But, like with everything, you can never make EVERYONE happy. Such is life.

I already find myself planning to do 4 different play throughs so I can romance everyone I want to romance. lol It's like potato chips - bet you can't eat just one. >:3

I like most of the DA2 cast, but I've never understood the wankfest over the companions in DAO. I've never played the game with Shale, but otherwise I actively dislike everyone in that game except Morrigan, Alistair, and Zevran. I didn't even know Wynne was possessed until I read Asunder because I frankly couldn't stand listening to her talk long enough to get to that point.

I'm in the same boat with you. Granted I adore Morrigan, Alistair, and Zevran... but every companion in DAI feels like a whole and complete person to me. They are interesting and complex... which is awesome. I mean there are definitely companions I dislike in this game, but I don't dislike any of them because they are one dimensional and boring. That's not even a description which could be accurately applied to any of them; and that is awesome.

So The Last Court... what exactly is this and what do you have to do?

The wiki explains it way better than I ever could. If you finish it you get these windows that just complete my soul.

I mean honestly why are these the only windows with art that fills the ENTIRETY of the frame? If you're gonna spring for stained-glass you do not half ass it. JOSEPHINE! We need to talk! First you fail at conjuring a marble bath and now the windows are inadequate.

Psst... My favorite person in the entire Dragon Age franchise is Anders... and yes, I mean DA2 Anders, so that makes me entirely unreliable in the eyes of like 90% of the forum community...

...but yeah, I never cared all that much about DAO companions, and generally felt closer to the DA2 cast... didn't even hate Sebastian, just disagreed with him. In Inquisition, I do like most everyone, but feel close to only a couple that resonate with me.

Thing is, if I had to choose, DA2 engaged me the most (blasphemy!). I realize it's not the best game, at least gameplay wise, but it was the most emotionally engaging for me.

Anders, Morrigan, and Dorian would probably be my team of choice... and, whoops, they're all mages... bite me  B)

didn't even hate Sebastian

That man holds the distinction of being the only character in all of Bioware lore that I have a murder fetish for.

One day Sebastian, one day!

Same, despite Assassin being my spec of choice through out DA, I'm generally not very murder knife happy. Sebastian is the exception, though. (And the Requisition Officer because I'm tired of her harassing me.)

I love Anders too, although Dorian and even Cassandra unseated him as my absolute fave.

And Anders/Morrigan/Dorian would be so much fun. They can all gossip about their husbands/boyfriends since they're all my love interests for my canon characters.

That's funny because that's exactly how I feel about Loghain... which is weird because I usually like redemption story type things, with him though I just want him to die a painful death. Even weirder is I feel similar about Blackwall, though I generally spare him. I still feel a lot of anger with Blackwall -_-

I admit, in my first few playthroughs I used to deliberately walk him into traps he spotted...

Later, I mellowed out, I guess.

Annoying, hypocritical, cowardly, patronizing, warmongering, ect.

Also he ran off with my best bow that I was going to use against Meredith because I wouldn't murder my own boyfriend.

Unforgivable.
