Ahh yes, now you mention it I have heard the messenger speak.  I'm usually too busy mulling over the fact that there is no actual cut scene of Dorian and I talking about Cass behind her back or wandering the ramparts having a brandy.  Just poof!  Message arrives as I'm heading down the stairs, crashing into my reverie.

This. I hate how it fades to black like it's about to trigger a cut scene, but then just... nothing. Such a tease.  <_<

Lol... It's Venatori Dorian! Way too stylish and sexy to kill though.

Venadori? I can only picture him using the Venatori to plunder the libraries and wine cellars of southern Thedas while Samson/Calpernia yell at him for sitting around all day reading and drinking. Imagine him replacing Erimond and his crappy snarkyness. The whole "resort of the weak mind" line would work pretty well with the whole Grey Warden arc.

Also, I've figured out how to make Dorian nearly invincible:

- Use Fade-Touched Stormheart (Berserk: 30% Damage for 300% Damage Taken) to build low protection armor. Focus on Attack, Crit Chance, and Crit Damage.

-Build a high damage staff using Fade-Touched Snowfleur Skin (On Hit: Heal 1% HP)

-Spec Dorian with Simulacrum (Necromancer) and Chaotic Focus (Fire), don't put points beyond Barrier into Spirit.

-Dorian will die quickly and trigger Simulacrum (Resurrected, no spell cost for 10 seconds, 20% damage dealt) after Simulacrum wears off as long as his basic attack hit something his staff will heal 1% HP, resurrecting him.

-Dorian will then "die" again, starting the cycle over again. As long as you keep hitting an enemy you can not be killed and you deal 50% more damage and can cast with no mana cost.

So I had no idea this existed... how irritating. Now there's hidden content in website... meh.

http://quest.dragonage.com/en-gb/home/

and here's a youtube vid explaining how to get the weapons, though it's not necessary to move the mouse around like crazy, that does nothing:

https://www.youtube....h?v=w9HyX9T2H40

Would have been nice to know about this at the time... hmm, now I'm curious if all the characters will get it though. Haven't checked that.

The staff is ugly though :P So there's that... I haven't even looked at the sword and dagger yet.

Does anyone know... are there more things like this? Other mini games with the rest of the characters? More secret hidden weapons? Etc? Sigh... If yes please drop a comment, I'd like to know before starting to look through all Bioware posts in all media in history, to find stuff like this  -_-

I've had that since the beginning. You only get one copy of each weapon, and you can't get them until Skyhold. In my experience, the sword and dagger are usually out classed by then (at least for an Inquisitor to use), but the staff is actually pretty good. It is ugly, though.

Well, well, well.  Not bad at all.  My only complaint is the hair isn't long enough :P  (because I'm watching a mini series with Dorian's voice actor in it, as we speak.  It's back when he's 33 years old and has waist length, glorious hair.  Notice me, Senpai!)  I'm taking picture #3.

Please tell me more about this mini series??

Speaking of Ramon Tikaram, I got the 1st Gameworld audio book (read by RT), and it's very Dorian: I can hear him in RT's narration, and the subject is fantastic worlds, magic, amazing creatures, very fun.  It's my "listen to as I fall asleep" audio and has (for now) replaced Welcome to Night Vale.

The first thing I saw Ramon Tikaram in was "Kama Sutra: A Love Story", which also starred Indira Varma (and also Naveen Andrews!). It was in 1996, not sure how old that made them, but he had super long hair and they were both (all) gorgeous.

There's also this "Dragon Age Inquisition Gift Pack" which gives you an amulet, a mount and a multiplayer chest (I think).

http://raptr.com/sto...inquisition-amd

The rest of the promotional items (Logitech, Prima CE Guide) are not free.

Will do.  Since it's technically off topic I'll PM you.  Anyone else interested ping my message box.

I enjoyed the book series very much.  It believe it was considered the first SE Asian Science Fiction/Fantasy to be translated to English.

Whether or not the two actors actually crossed paths at the studio I have no idea but I enjoy taking Vivienne and Dorian in parties considering what I remember of both of them in Kama Sutra was his bare backside and her knees that they had great chemistry in screen.  Vivienne and Dorian's spats have just that extra bit of humor to them.

Gosh, I hope so.  They left such a dangling story here that needs to be fulfilled.  A DLC; a book.  Something!

I keep having this recurring thought of DA4's new protagonist and Inquisitor being brought before the Archon, whether by diplomatic necessity or other.  They are surrounded by all the pomp and ostentatious everything of the Tevinter head of state.  The Archon's on the seat bedecked in heavy hooded robes.  (Like the Emperor LOL).   They get there and suddenly a leg pops over the arm of the throne, hood sweeps back and Dorian says "Well, well, well.  About time you lot got here!"

Then I flip a desk.  What?!  Where's the story?  You can't just, oh-there-he-is and not explain anything!

Anyway <sips coffee>

I like the way you think.  :)  I too hope there is some DLC or in the next game that addresses his attempts to better his homeland and I cannot help but see him in a significant position of power.  It's set up too perfectly not to happen, in my opinion.  Dorian as Archon would also change Tevinter forever and bring it into a new age.  I just suspect that the next game is in Tevinter so perhaps it will be about taking that power at Dorian's side.  I don't know.  But it would be such a lost opportunity if Dorian's story is just dropped after Inquisition.

It would make a sort of sense.  All human roads lead back to Tevinter, the seat of human history in Thedas.  I think that is why Tevinter has a draw on so many of us.  The antiquity and the historical mysteries.   They supposedly started all this so now it's their chance to make good on helping to fix it and redeem themselves.

Dorian has a good start.  Not only is he learning valuable lessons and experience he would have never gained inside Tevinter, he's also won the regard of one of the fastest growing powers in Thedas and is sitting at it's forefront.  Trust that the 'vints back home have noticed and are already working it into their calculations.

Dorian is like the Varric of DA2.  As a female I can't romance him, only appreciate him and it's made me feel very, very buddy-buddy with him.  I miss him when the game is over.

Of everyone in the game he has the most heart and in spite of his "roguish" ways of speaking (yes, this is for you the "he's not a KISA" people) he has a noble character and a heart of a lion.  The way he cares for Felix even Alexius is so genuine and sweet, but also the way he cares for you, a stranger, in hushed whisper is just simply breath-taking.

He is 100% my favorite in this game and I'm actually glad I can't romance him.

Part of me thought to be a male to romance him but since like the Velveteen Rabbit he's now "real" to me, I feel like I'd be deceiving him.  We have an understanding and he's my Knight in Shining Armor even if we never have a romance.

I love Dorian.

I do wonder how far the knowledge of the Dorian/Inquisitor relationship has traveled. I am inclined to think that that fact alone might offer him some protection, but I'm not sure exactly how much.

There will be a segment of the nobility that will not want change because it means a diminishment of their own power and influence and will do anything to protect it. The more clever and cautious among them will wait and watch. The Inquisitor proved he has a long reach during the Corypheus crisis -- I sent templars to aid Maevaris during that one war table mission -- and that the Inquisition is a force to be reckoned with. However, the arrogance of some Tevinters might lead them to think less of Corypheus because he was defeated (and in some cases by an "up-jumped soporati," as Corypheus called him), consequently more of themselves, and cause them to believe they aren't in any true danger from the Inquisition if they happen to ****** off the Inquisitor by, say, murdering his boyfriend.

As I stated in this thread, I typically do things to get "in" with Tevinter because I would prefer that they be my sort-of-friend rather than an enemy. I wonder how that might influence, if at all, Dorian's effort when he returns.

Yes, once again disappointing me with his tendency to play roles that are on screen for less than 10 minutes.  Still I did nearly jump up off the couch when the three of them strolled in the tent and I spotted him.  I'd resigned myself to the idea he'd never take on roles outside the UK.  Now look at him.  GoT and two Wachowski films (Speed Racer / Jupiter Ascending).  I'm hoping I can see "Five Greedy Bankers" where I live.  He'll be a main protagonist in that.

He was great in Karma Sutra.  I really thought that was his accent for awhile.  :)

I love the dude.

I also love, love Dorian so it's kinda cool that he got to be both.

I've always liked his accent.  It's a bit North London but has somewhat the cadence and pronunciation of SE Asia.  Early on it seemed like he th-fronted words but don't know if he did that normally or if that was contrived for the show he was on at the time.  But his way of speaking is distinctive enough to make it easy to pick him out even when he alters his voice for a voice acting role.  He was a great choice for Dorian.

Not sure if you've seen this, but you might be interested in this tumblr post by David Gaider:

I believe Ramon Tikaram began recording when we were about halfway through recording the game. Most of Dorian’s personal stuff was completed, but there was still a lot of incidental lines to be written…and, as usual, once I got a feel for the VA’s take on the character, I went back and tweaked some of the dialogue. That’s not unusual — every VA will do certain types of lines better or worse, and their voice will be a little (or a lot) different from the voice you had in your head.

In this case, Ramon was pretty close. We initially had him using more of an East Indian accent, but in the end decided to let him go ahead and use his natural voice — it sounded good, and had a quality all of its own that lended to Dorian’s “otherness”, which I liked.

As usual with me, it's so difficult to imagine anyone else playing the character. The voice becomes such an integral part of the character, not only the lines of dialog, but they way they are spoken, that being played by anyone else would make them feel like a different person.

I agree, and I think most would. Half the personality lies within the voice and how it's being delivered. It's what makes a character come to life. You can't change a voice actor and get away with it, unless it's part of the story to have that change. No one could replace Ramon Tikaram as Dorian, because he is Dorian.

No, I never saw that.  Thanks.  I'm glad they picked that "Something other" out and let him roll with his own accent.  I've heard him using an Indian or Middle Eastern accent and it's good and solid but when an actor uses an accent or language not his own, the vocal dynamic tends to get a bit stunted.  Not nearly as whimsical and charming as Ramon's natural voice.

Nice of Gaider to mention East Indian specifically.  I always thought Dorian's look somewhat represented the ethnic halfway point between India and the Middle East.

I always imagine Dorian taking after her.  Halward seems stockier in build, wider in the face and darker complected.  Just overall larger and less angular.  Cole says they have the same eyes but my head canon says most of everything else he got from Mom including his nose and maybe even the foundation of his personality.  Maybe she hides her own rebellious streak.

This is just headcannon, but considering that Dorian comments that Mama Pavus frets over him like he's still five maybe she's the one who warned him about the blood ritual? If she's that overprotective and "can't stand" Halward then it would make sense that she'd warn her son that he might have been turned into a vegetable.

Also given how uptight and duty-bound Halward is, I'd imagine that Dorian gets his sharp tongue from his mother. Growing up with parents who loathed each other would explain how he can occasionally be unintentionally cruel with his choice of words.

This aspect reminds me so much of a friend I had. They grew up with parents that actually did love one another, but they fought all the time and fought dirty. Growing up it was always who had the sharpest tongue, the cruelest wit, who could go right for the soft spot that won the arguments. If you could call that winning. Sometimes he would turn that on his friends, but as soon as he realized, he apologized and was sorry for it. Which reminds of of Dorian. It becomes so engrained, that it's something very hard to change, even when you want to. It would be even worse and more caustic with parents who actually hated one another.

I'd also like to know about Dorian's grandparents. They're never really talked about. He could've gotten many aspects of his personality or looks from one of them, which I find interesting to think about.

That's very true.  He's quite adept when he wants to be cruel - his tongue lashes the other person to ribbons and it's so swift it is stunning.  If your parents are a heavy presence in your life, and they loathe each other, it would be hard not to pick up the verbal game of defeating each other they must have been engaging in together.

The way Dorian described how his mother still treats him as a 5 year was one of the moments that I found most endearing.  It showed another vulnerability to him.  There's so much about his background we only get in snippets.  Here is this privileged individual from one off the big houses in Tevinter and he makes his way down south to check out this Inquisition and see what he can do about his old mentor, Alexius.  This privileged young man sold all his worldly possessions to make this trip, even his birthright, to rough it quite a bit I would imagine and yet still seem very much in control of himself, in control of his own destiny.  There's just so much there that we've only got a drop in the bucket in the game and I hope there's a novel that will tell us a bit more.  That, and obviously a DLC or more in the 4th game :)

Hehe Mum being a fret never occurred to me.  Nor thought of her as the one who possibly warned him.  But that would be the sort of thing any mom would do if someone threatens her child.  Regardless how old he is.  Worth a thought...

For whatever reason I had it in my head that it was his best friend Felix who warned him.  Somehow my brain turned that into a fact even though it says nowhere who warned him or how he found out.  Just evidence of how immersive this game can be.

I always took Dorian's sarcastic comment to mean he viewed her as a bit of a harpy.  I laugh at the thought that she's dragged Halward out of a party by the ear on more than one occasion.
