I'm sad to report that my beloved Inquisitor met his demise in a catastrophic hard drive crash at 8:23pm last night. Along with his Dorian and all his Companions. I am utterly heartbroken.
I had made period backups but I found that his save files were also corrupt. Along with the vid of his creation and reference photos. I'm going into brief period of mourning until I gather my patience this weekend and attempt to rebuild him from memory. If I do I am going straight to Redcliff and dragging Dorian back to Haven by his ear.

I'm not 100% sure of the scene to which you are referring. Do you mean his friendship lines after the Mother Giselle conversation? If so, then yes, the lines are different for a romance path. It is basically the start of the romance and includes one of the two options that you have for starting the romance -- the other being the scene directly after the dad/tavern scene.
After Giselle leaves he will reference the rumors (to male/female, or well, romance/non-romance), but here is where the difference starts. If you are just friends he asks if the rumors (the general, non-specific rumors Giselle mentions) bother you. If you're on the romance path he says that the rumors are that "you are I are... intimate," and then asks if that bothers you, to which you can respond with the option that starts the romance (Dorian initiates a kiss here).

Dammit, this just made me really sad that DG has left the series. He's written my favorite characters across all of the DA games, and DAI has two of the topmost ranking ones across all of Dragon Age. I'm pleased that he's getting to refresh his brain by moving on, but it is such a personal bummer for me.
Thank you I wasn't sure what happens after that. DG did a great job with Dorian (and Allastair and Morrigan).

Well that is absolutely craptacular. Your computer is being a jerk. Hope you don't have to replace the hard drive.

You know, I dismissed Dorian as another token gay character like Cortez, but after chatting with him, I love him (platonically).
His insight into Tevinter's systems of government and nepotism, his social-political views of the south, his religious beliefs, his patriotism(miss-placed as it may be), and not to mention his snarkiness.
Well done BioWare, Dorian is now my homeboy and is tied with Varric for my favorite party character.

Aww that sucks man
Exactly how I felt when I realized my PS4 hard drive was failing and I had to send it away to be fixed. I was lucky enough to be able to upload all my saves first though. I know I would have been pretty crushed if I lost all that ![]()

It's a mechanical failure so new hard drive. Booo. "We will survive and rebuild"
Edit: I'm thinking I will sit on it a while until there is rumor of a DLC. So it's all fresh and new like again for a playthrough... right into the DLC.

@General TSAR: Interesting - because, as a gay man, talking to him I did find him very "stereotypical". That does NOT mean he is for everyone else - I'd quickly admit I'm in an extreme minority.
My views tend toward ascetic stoicism so when I hear him speak - with all his sass and pompousness and his obsession with finery and luxury... I have this knee jerk "Oh, you're just 'that gay guy from TV.'" reaction.
Shame too - cause I'd really like to enjoy him - he's the first fully fleshed out gay character.

I had a weird thing happen when I uploaded my game to the Keep. With my romanced Dorian it correctly recorded that he stayed with the Inquisition after defeating Corypheus. Yet with my friendship Dorian it said that he returned to Tevinter, even though he had definitely said he was staying with his one and only friend. Anyone else had this? I know it is a simple matter to change it but it made me wonder if the flags are working correctly as it could be relevant to the DLC.
Another thing that I wondered anyone had thoughts on. Why does Dorian have such a downer on Briala? I played through Wicked Hearts again last night and opted once again to put Briala in charge with Gaspard as her puppet. As before, when I talk about events with Dorian he calls Briala a "harpy" and hopes she won't eventually bite the Inqjuisitor's hand off. This may just be Dorian trying to be funny but it doesn't sound like that. So why does he feel the need to be so disparaging about Briala specifically?

Sounds exactly like my Greek bros.
I guess since Dorian looks like he's from the Mediterranean and Tevinter is the Ancient Greece of Thedas, I had his mannerisms pegged for cultural upbringing/social class.

I disagree about Cortez being a "token" gay, and tend to question the "reasoning" behind that opinion.
Besides that, It's great you like Dorian.

Yes, everyone. Take this as a cautionary tale that next time you approach the game you should make a backup of your favorite quizzy's Save Game files. Not just one, because I had a backup to an external drive that went sour. Make an additional back up to the cloud or some other location for redundancy.

You have my sympathies as well. I had a rash of hard drive scares after an upgrade and since I'm lazy and never back up anything ever it was really, really anxiety provoking. Scary how much ambient life stuff we store on the PC. Or I do anyway. It might just be a me thing.

@Gaesesagai - my brain is a scary place - I read your comment as "Now I'm paranoid not to lose my man" though given that this is the Dorian thread, I think my mistake is understandable. I doubt anyone here wants to lose that glorious man from Tevinter. ![]()

I guess Dorian was just too much for your hard drive to handle. That sucks though, losing all your files is never a fun experience. ![]()
I hope everything works out for you in the end!

Ha!
Well it's accurate enough, seeing as how my main is a man
And losing Dorian would be equally unacceptable... but luckily he's safe in my DAI digital thingy so I can always get to him again lol
