My Lavellan rode the Bull.  LOL. 

That was my original plan for my male elf, but then Dorian swept him away.

Hmm... I don't think I have anything really helpful to add but this is my though; go down the steps near Dorian to Solas' room and see if there is an inquisition messenger there. If there is one talk to her it should pop up a letter from Leilanna about Dorian's amulet and you can start that (you can talk to Dorian about it or just go to Val Royeux, you can also take Dorian with you if you want).

 

If the messenger isn't there I'd wonder if you killed any of the Venitori with him/did any of his wartable missions? Also did you do mages or templars? Things happen much quicker with the need to do less of his other stuff if you go mages whereas things can sometime get a bit wonky on a Templar run.

 

Unfortunately, there is no Inquisition messenger waiting there for some reason It doesn't look like I can even activate that quest for some reason... His approval is high, I've done most of his side quests (One Less Venatori, A Friend in Qarinus, the follow-up to that) and I did the mage route. One thing I've noticed is that on the squad selecton screen, his card is the one with the black snake instead of with the white origami figure or whatever that is, which makes me think I might have messed something up earlier on in the game, maybe in his Last Resort of Good Men quest?

Yea... it sounds like something definitely went wrong somewhere Do you have a save from before you did Last Resort? If so I'd say go back and try again. It's kind of crummy but that's all I can think of. From what you said it sounds like you did things right.

That card comes after you had sex with him. Sex comes after "amulet"-quest. Amulet-quest can be found  in Val Royaux (you just get announcement from Leliana in screen that there is this amulet-thing to do for Dorian, or so I remember it). Try to go to Val Royaux with Dorian and check if there is this NPC with exclamation mark, and if is, talk to him. If you get that going, don't kill the merchant! You either talk him to give the amulet (human-male) or agree to make a deal with him, in which case you go to war table and make someone do the deal. That gives you the amulet (human-male got it from said merchant) and you give it to Dorian...and then it is plain sailings.

I do sometimes just test what happens if you break up with LI, just to see how it is written. I know, I do it almost eyes shut, but it is this curiosity in me, just for scientific purposes you know. Then I load previous save lol. When I betatested Ser Gilmore-mod Zevran ninja-manced somehow, and I had to break up with him. The sheer agony of it was unbearable! But no, I can't do it with Dorian even just to try out how they wrote it.

Well, you get the quest from Leliana, it has to be in your journal, then there is the merchant to find. You just don't talk to Leliana to get it, so it is easy to miss, I know I missed it first time.

You know, I think there are just weird conditions in this game where quests sometimes don't work.  I had a play through where I could not get Cole's quest to complete.  I gave him the amulet and the cut scene never happened.  And in this play through during Bull's quest where I picked the Chargers the Elven Qunari agent who Bull was talking to was not there.  But the scene still played out - it was like Bull was talking to air.  So I think that this game just has some quirks in the coding.

Definitely. My current playthrouhg Cole won't even give me his quest, and I should be in his fave, I always am. On the other hand, I have neved seen Solas' quest, because he always hates me. Always.

Viv hates my quizzy this play through.  She rearranged my furniture and everything.  But somehow Solas and quizzy are friends.  But Dorian.. Dorian is always my friend. Or more depending on gender.  Cass always ends up a friend, Bull as well.  And Cole even though I don't actively try.  I think I would have to actively play as a total d-bag for  Dorian, Cass, Bull or Cole to not be my friend. And I am just not that girl.   

 

On my first play through I never could get the Wyvern in Crestwood to show up for me to kill it.  I'm guessing she was just shy. But the second one she showed up just fine.  And there was no patch action between rolls one and two.  So I find it odd that sometimes stuff would just not work. At least  I can blame the Cole and Bull issues on patch 5 and 6. Because when in doubt, place blame.

Dorian: Yes, but with our luck its filled to the brim with fanatics who want to kill those who would defile their sanctum. Or maybe there's some crazed Magister, or Elven god, or perhaps a Dwarven Paragon just to avoid monotony.

So question about Dorian's romance card.

 

 

Is he meant to be holding an origami flower or is it something else? I'm never quite sure.

^ I think it's supposed to just be an actual flower, and it's the art style that's making it look kinda paper-ish..? Maybe, that is. I don't actually know.

 

Also, the Sera thread maybe just reached a page limit or sth? I haven't been frequenting it, so I don't know if anything bad went down there?

Took a peek in the Sera thread, from what I skimmed, seems they were fighting in there.  I doubt that would happen here so I think we're safe.

It looks like a white lilac. White is Dorian's color and the snake is a part of Tevinter's heraldry, both of which represent who he is. So he's kind of holding his heart in his hands.

Also the gauntleted hand across his chest is probably the Inquisitor's given that the hand is used to symbolize him. That and that little pendant is probably the Magister's Birthright.

I've always thought he is holding a real flower, not one made of paper.

 

And Dorian looks pretty nice with the new DLC armor i crafted for him. 

 

 

 

Also, while i was playing with the flycam i noticed that little Fennec stalking between those trees behind Dorian, so i had to take pics of Fennec too, lol xD
