I might make a go of Cass or Josie. But if I take the time to roll another bro he's probably gonna get all the Dorian loving because it seems to be a more fleshed out romance arc. And if I do another female I'm sure I will romance Cullen.  The Cullenmance is just easy from a straight romantic relationship perspective.

Also, when I say "adulty", I meant that from a grown up perspective.  Sera just has a lot of child like qualities which makes romancing her a little...weird to me as a person who came to terms with being a grown ass adult almost 20 years ago. I guess a game needs a manic pixie dream elf action now and again.

Yeah, I started a Trevelyan for Cassandra a while back, but deleted him, since he was just way too pretty. And a bit too cookie-cutter. He ended up looking nearly identical to another one I'd made earlier, despite my efforts to make him look different. Oopsie. But yeah, out of any of the women, Cassandra is probably the most likely to make the cut. If I go there. Honestly, I've kinda lost my oompf for DAI atm.

I get you on the "adulty" thing. I'll be 42 in a couple of months, so some of the stuff I think you're referring to is a head-shaker for me, as well.

Oh, and here are the cookie cutter twins.

I didn't romance Sera either, because I'm usually not interested in romancing girls xD. But I love her friendship, and the Dorian/Sera friendship and banters are really funny too  :)

The whole "Stop saying tool!" Banter is one of my favorite banters in the whole game. Eevery time I hear it I start giggling.

That one is great, although she has so many hilarious dialogues with Dorian, many of them are my favourites  . The 'scissors' banter is one of them xD

Those two could be brothers!  I don't have a screenshot of my Lavellan, but I think somehow she might be related to Caitlyn T (my current avatar).  Some of that might also be attributed to the fact that there are really only two hairstyles I will use for females because most of the hair sucks.  Maxwell didn't look like any of the ladies I rolled since he was black and only one of my females was black. Sadly Ava looked great in the creator but came out looking like she put on too much make up.  No way to fix that.. yet.

Sorry if this has been addressed since I last posted in here. I haven't looked at this thread in ages because I still haven't played the DLC and am avoiding the forums for spoilers. Since I finally had to patch, I'm slowly going through the full game again in the run up to playing the DLC.

I finally was able to see the banter between Dorian and Gatt during Demands of the Qun. The veiled threat was interesting, but not as egregious as I thought it was going to be based on other posts I saw here. Dorian handled it in his way; the tone of his voice as he says, "And do you intend to teach me?" was absolutely perfect.

On this most recent occasion I took only Dorian and Bull along. On the first attempt in the dialog prompt when the two argue I picked, "Now is not the time," and waited for over an hour, during which time I got three normal banters between Bull and Dorian, but not this specific one. On a second attempt I picked, "Both sides have problems," and did get the banter rather quickly after that. I don't know if that was bad/good luck, or is actually significant. Probably the former.

I'm posting this because I was never able to find a source for it online. At any rate, here it finally is for those who still haven't seen it:

Spoiler

Gatt: You must wish you were back in Tevinter, mage. No soldiers to guard you here, no slaves to wait on you.

Dorian: It's the lack of fashion that really strikes fear into my heart.

G: You know nothing of fear.

D: And do you intend to teach me?

G: No. You serve the Inquisition, and the Ben-Hassrath wish an alliance. For now, that is enough.

Bah! I did the "Both sides have problems" and I never got the second banter. I didn't even realize there was another one ><

YES.  Dorian, Sera, and Vivienne are the funniest companion combo in the game IMO.

I got the "stop saying tool" line right before meeting Erimond. Then Dorian just had to say "No Erimond, you're the tool."

I said "Now is not the time", and got that dialogue right away, the last time I did that mission. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to it.

I have not tried them together. Honestly, I never brought Vivienne along, ever, until my most recent playthrough. I just didn't like her, and pushed her under the rug. Sometimes I left her standing out on the grass in Skyhold. Like the whole game. I finally decided to give her a chance, and actually did her quests. That enchanter throne you get is my favorite!

Lot's of people dislike her, but I love Vivienne and think she is absolutely fabulous.  I often pair her with Dorian for over 9000 levels of fabulous.

Damn, it sucks that we have to wait a month for this book. I'm dying to read the rest of it now. I really did not expect any sort of greatly in-depth character info like this. The sheer amount of background information on that one page is amazing.

Wow, I certainly didn't expect this when I woke up... I don't even know how to process all this new information - for months we've all been guessing and theorizing about Dorian's past, and now so many questions have been given answers. Just like that.

Man, you think you know someone... Now I'm aching to get my hands on this book.

I think a lot of otherwise good people do bad things like drinking, drugs and random hook ups to deal with their emotional pain because they have no other outlet for it.  And when you are young acting out is probably the only way one can express things emotionally because they can't emote their feelings.  Naturally, people don't get that they are in pain so they just condemn the behavior and try to change it, rather than find out what is going on with the person, like Halward did with Dorian.   It's got to be a real mind eff to realize you are gay all the while being bred and told and guided to understand that it is inherently wrong and bad and icky.  I'd probably drown myself in a fifth of whisky too.

They don't teach homosexuality to be wrong however, his sexuality is not necessarily the problem here. The problem is that Dorian refuses to get married to his betrothed and continue with the bloodline, therefore shaming his family name. That would have been a problem even if he was straight and happened to not fancy the girl. And he would probably still have had a bad relationship with alcohol and sex. Being straight would not have made it easier to live with someone you don't desire. Sure, the chances of him ending up liking the girl would of course have been greater, but it's not a guarantee.

But you're right about Dorian not being a bad person, he just behaves badly as a way of dealing with his problems.

It just took me a little bit to give her a chance. The first time I heard Vivienne and Dorian going at it, my jaw was on the floor. Once over the initial shock of it all, I was impressed by their banter. Over time, I realized she wasn't quite the horrible wench I assumed her to be. She is a much more regular party member now. :)

But in the game the whole scene when you confront his dad, your quizzy is like, "that's a thing?" implying that it's a much bigger deal in Teventer than it is in Fereldan/Orlais...  So somewhere, someone is saying it's not exactly kosher, even if its tolerated on the DL.

I would have liked to have read that link that was posted.  But the font was just super tiny.  I'm an old. So I'm sure I'm missing details.  If so, pardon a broad.  LOL.

Yea talking to Viv while in a relationship with Dorian and running around with her in part with him gave me a whole new appreciation for her. Until then I didn't like her much at all.

Also, could someone possibly pm me the text of this thing on reddit you're talking about? It's blocked at work and I really want to read about his past! TY in advance :D
