Also, if you have NOT flirted with him before that point you also get the extra flirt option in the tavern scene to basically "come out," which has some great followup banter between you two, as well as some remarks by Halward (not going to spoil in case you want to watch it).

 

Whaaaat??? Does anyone have this uploaded? I don't think I could manage to not flirt with Dorian but I'd really like to see this.

 

I do wonder whether they will ever allow for a non-player initiated romance. By this I mean you, the player, are just going along, perhaps being kinda nice to a given person, and they express their interest in you. I know there was backlash over the Anders "come on," but I think that some of that -- at least for me -- might have been mitigated if he had waited until later in the game to express interest. Saying one nice thing to someone does not mean you want to have their babies, and his responding as if it did when you'd just met was a bit outlandish for me. Then again, that's Anders in a nutshell, isn't it?

 

My impression from Mike Laidaw and Patrick Weekes is it's something they have a lot of interesting in doing, but they are hesitant on doing it because of player reactions. Specifically Mike said they have a segment of players who play as if the romances aren't even an option and having a character hit on the player unprovoked ruins that for those players and they feel like it's a legitimate way of playing their games (they aren't making dating sims after all). So I think we'll only see that coming back if they have someone way for players to flag themselves as not being interested in relationships/flirting at all.

 

Anyone else been having problems uploading your saved games to the Keep?    I just went and checked out my latest run in the Tapestry and certain things are still Hidden even though I know I did them, like Sutherland and his little group.     A bit frustrating when you know you've done everything and of course so long as it is hidden, you can't change it.

 

Yep. Annoys the crap out of me. I know I have everything set-up correctly for it to sync... but it doesn't Particularly annoying because all my other PT's are right, it's just my current one which is giving me issues.

Latest conversation: Cole asks what a slave is.    Dorian swears and then tells him to go ask the Inquisitor.    My elven Inquisitor looks quizzically at his lover and raises his eyebrows, thinking "Are you sure you want me to explain?"    

 

I know better than to criticise Dorian on this forum but in fact I find it hysterical; there has to be a private joke going on here between the two of them.  (Slavery has always been something of an elephant in the room in our relationship). 

 

Anyone have a translation for what Dorian says when he swears?

"You will be the death of me." He also says this to the Inquisitor if you drink from the well. I think it's a fun line that can be used in multiple ways.

As far as that conversation goes, IMO it's very simple. When children ask you things there is no need to go into great detail. You answer their specific question and if they have any more, or if they don't understand, they will ask you something else.

So, the answer to Cole's question is: a slave is a person that is owned by someone else. That is the factual, no-nonsense answer and leaves out any morality.
 
Now, Cole being a thinking individual might ask you how a person can be owned, or something along those lines. Then you answer until he is satisfied. He is perfectly capable of making his own moral judgement on the matter. I don't feel that it would be necessary to get into some of the gray areas that are mentioned in the Dorian/Inquisitor slavery conversation unless Cole asks about them directly. There is no point in getting too indignant over it, or of letting emotion cloud the issue, because Cole won't understand.
 
That said, my Inquisitor's first response would be, "Gee thanks, Dorian."

OH FYI... the Dorian Character Kit (for cosplay purposes) has finally been released. I've seen some DAI cosplay photos but none of the people I've seen thus far have been dressed as Dorian, so I'm keen to see what they can up with.

Like I say, it's no big issue.   May be Dorian just doesn't want to get involved in another of Cole's convoluted enquiries about the meaning of something but I just wondered whether on the spur of the moment he thought he'd a have a bit of fun at the Inquisitor's expense.   You rightly point out that giving Cole the basic definition of a slave isn't likely to be nearly enough to satisfy his requirement for information.    He does take statements very literally and if it doesn't make sense to him then he keeps on until you come up with something that does.    Dorian has been very patient but then he did realise that he might come to regret telling Cole he could ask questions.

Those instructions I would totally love to see, since I also find myself wondering how the man puts on his armour... Probably takes ages, too^^ And the IKEA instructions idea... sheer brilliance on your part, those sound amazing^^

So my Lavellan became a Packmaster after helping the wolves in the Hinterlands, and he has a new hobby since then: wandering the countryside with Dorian, befriending the wolf packs they run across.

 

 

The wolfies also seem to like Dorian (maybe it's because of his Tony Stark charm ), especially this one, so my elf convinced Dorian to adopt it. xD
