Yes, specially when it's something that have personal value. In my case is a necklace that my mother gave to me when she hospitalized for the first time, it was wore by my grandmother before her. It worries me to lose it or forget where did i let it. Even if sometimes can be a bit annoying i want it to be with me everytime and everywhere.

I'm not sure if the value for Dorian would be the same, but i could see him wearing it almost all the time. For now we know that he doesn't wear it during sex.

Silly me, I did forget about the post-sex convo where they're actually naked -- I don't know how I forgot this. Buuuut, I'm reluctant to take cutscenes at 100% face value for things like bodies unless the NPC has an unique body model, like Iron Bull or Isabela. The human male Inquisitor, Cullen, and Dorian all share the same body model. Also, I'd imagine that an amulet of the more delicate design that Dorian's is -- as opposed to Varric's chunky thing -- would be extremely difficult to render in 3D and have it look halfway decent, not to mention that even Varric's necklace requires the Mesh Quality to be on Ultra to see it correctly, and the pieces are sometimes misaligned in cutscenes.

Another indicator is that we can't actually see whether Dorian is wearing it, or not wearing it, when he has his clothing on. If this were real life you might be able to see part of the chain under the neck of his shirt, indicating that he was wearing it. But given the design of the amulet and how it hangs quite low, I don't know how Halward could tell he wasn't wearing it in the first place.

(Yes, I realize it seems like I'm devoting WAY too much thought to this, but it's all in good fun.)

I see your point, but it would still be weird to not add it. If i remember well romances in Origins had those ugly necklaces during sexy times.

Now I can only picture Dorian attempting to use the Inquisition's Agents to run errands. Like getting books from absurdly well-defended libraries, raiding Venatori wine cellars, and getting the Requisitions agent to stop stalking the Inquisitor.

My hero!

Even if there's nothing to report, she still interrupts banter to say, "Nothing to report." :pinched:

She is the true villain of DAI. I spent all that time crafting a murder knife for my Assassin Inquisitor and I can't even put t use where it's needed most.

Ruffled feathers remind me of Anders. Why does everyone I love go crazy? :crying:

It is only matter of time before the led ink in those books goes straight to his head. I told him not to put his finger in mouth while reading, but he know I love to see him play with his mustache. Soon he will be running around Skyhold in his small clothes singing children's songs (kidding, but oh would it be funny if got drunk and did that ).

Dorian: Aquae Lucius, I've never heard of him.

Inquisitor: Maker's hairy eyeball, That girl is going to get it.

Dorian: Oh, I have heard this one.

There once was a Knight from Orlais,

Who went on a trip for his birthday.

His Squire woke with a fright,

in the middle of the night,

To find the Knight in the Middle of four........

Inquisitor: If you finish that line there really will be a fuzzy bug eating your lip! Now, to bed with you.

Dorian: Yes Nana.

I know. The real one has a snake coming out of it.

I don't think they ever display Dorian's family crest. It was talk about, but was never shown.

We haven't seen a Pavus crest, if there is one -- they might not do that in Tevinter. But if you're referring to the amulet, you can see it on his romance card, and also some fanart has it in various levels of detail.

With the snake and serpent being such ubiquitous design elements in Tevinter I rather doubt that the amulet is actually representative of the Pavus crest, although its actual function/symbolism as a Birthright might suggest that to be the case. It wouldn't be unique and doesn't have anything that would set it apart as belonging to a particular family, other than perhaps the arrangement of stones, which we can't really see. If the amulet IS supposed to represent the Pavus crest, then this might be a case of game/lore/art/design conflicts.

[edit]
Who doesn't love looking at this card? (I scanned this huge version recently, enjoy.)

The quest where we get his family necklace back.  I would assume if the necklace hold the weight of the Pavus name it must be the crest.

Not to be confused with Durian Pavus. Which sounds like it should be the name of a cocktail, served with a little paper umbrella because of course it would be.

Durian Paves sounds like it would be the name of Dorian's twin brother.  His spiky haired macho brother, that got the name "Fruit King" by eating a whole melon in under five minutes.

New page gets a Dorian... Fanart IS wonderful, but the real thing is the best!

"But don't worry. I'm here. I'll protect you."

Spoiler

I just squee every time he says this. He's so earnest and it has nothing at all to do with the romance. Quite a nice indicator of his personality.

^ One of the few positive environment comments: "I suppose this place does have a few sights to recommend it," said at the Intrinsic Pool in the Forbidden Oasis. The only other semi-positive one I can recall is him saying that the waterfall at the Rush of Sighs in the Emerald Graves reminds him of the public baths in Minrathous, but then he has to complain about something, so he adds that this is colder. Then there is the amusing "Finally, some humidity" on the Storm Coast.

As a person that also dislikes being cold -- born and raised in Miami, FL, but now live in Seattle, WA -- also dislikes traveling, breaking my routine, and being away from my creature comforts, I can still appreciate the beauty in the surrounding environment, even if it's uncomfortable. I'm actually surprised that the same isn't true for Dorian, as his negative environment comments far outweigh the positive ones. (Although I completely empathize with him being totally effing miserable in someplace like Emprise du Lion.)

I don't blame Dorian for being miserable in Emprise du Lion, hiking through the snow is awful (Did we ever figure how/why everything froze over in the middle of Spring/Summer?)

One thing that I wish that we could ask about is one of his comments on the Magisterium: "They think that the Qunari can be defeated". Considering that Dorian's from a city that's been routinely attacked/invaded by the Qunari he's probably lived through events similar to what happened in Kirkwall (possibly from a young age) it would make sense that they appear to be unstoppable.

Calpernia's short story in WoT2 and other remarks in DAI suggest that the Imperium could possibly push back if they weren't constantly fighting amongst themselves. Even on Iron Bull's side of things, the Ariqun doesn't seem very interested in committing to anything beyond the current skirmishes.

Plus if Seheron and the Arishok are anything to go off of non Ben-Hesserath Qunari kind of break down and stop functioning mentally if they can complete or receive orders. They remind me a lot of the Dominion from DS9. Any kind of occupation or long-term war away from their territory would either require a more robust command structure or long range communications.
