I fully expect it to have the same level of follower involvement as JoH, but at least it's something new. But yeah... I was also thinking of the various environmental complaints he might have.
However, once of my fav comments by him is not a complaint at all. When you enter the Deep Roads area in Crestwood he says, "The whole area is still lit up! Remarkable!" I really enjoy his little moments like that where his real self shines through.

I'm wondering if this DLC will either A) better define the Darkspawn's origins or

I found it rather amusing in JoH that Dorian suffers from vertigo, so I wonder if they might continue the joke into this DLC considering there appear to be some very big drops there. I'm just happy that we will be off questing somewhere new and Dorian is bound to have something to say for himself.
Trying to decide which group to take in first; mage Inquisitor with Dorian as best friend or hunter Inquisitor with romanced Dorian. I usually like to run with two mages, so the former would make more sense as I'm definitely taking Cassandra with me, so that would leave a vacant slot for Varric. I'm assuming that Varric must have something to say on this one. Opting for my hunter Inquisitor means that either Dorian will be the only mage in the party or I leave out Varric. Since there was no romance specific dialogue in JoH I'm assuming it will be the same in the latest DLC, so it really won't make much difference as long as Dorian is with me.

Since there was no romance specific dialogue in JoH...
The vertigo remark you mention has a romance alternate version.
Dorian: Everyone remember not to look down.
Inquisitor: I... may have already looked.
Dorian: Just try not to think about it. Or fall. Falling would be worse. I'd have to jump down after you. It would be very touching and so melodramatic, it will become tiresome.
A least, I think that is a romance alternate version. I didn't get that version when I played JoH, but I did it peri-game, not post, so I don't know if that makes a difference or not (dunno why it would if the romance is locked in...)

Ha! I got that remark from him ![]()
As for the new dlc, I'm quite curious... will they go deeper in the "lyrium is alive" thing? And if so will it be a simple and "lore dead end"-ish "it's a fungus" type of thing or will it be something more interesting?
More importantly I really hope they reactivate dialogues with the love interest (at least if not all)... I miss my sexy times with Dorian ![]()

I'm taking Dorian (LI and hearing him whine amuses me) Varric because it's the Deep Roads (and he will whine and this too is going to amuse me) , and him and Dorian can suffer together.
And Blackwall , he's free and forgiven in my main playthrough ,but I feel like getting him slapped around by ogres is good for his karma.
I hope there's going to be party banters if it's somekind of dungeon crawl ,it has to be more linear so the dev could use some trigger points for banters.
But the DLC wasn't written by the Edmonton team , they're working on another DLC , so I'm not holding my breath.
I assume the dwarves we saw in the trailer will do most of the talking and the companion will just mostly stand there.

Sadly, for me the DLC will have to wait for a while yet. Firstly, because it's hotter than Mercury in Germany right now and I can't game more than two hours before my system overheats and secondly, because my PS4 broke and I received a replacement, which means all my saves are lost on the new sytem. I'll have to game through the entire game and JoH again with my new hunter (I've called him Kainan^^) before I can brave the Deep Roads^^ I like to do the DLC's after the main game *gg*
I loved the trailer though and I'll download it as soon as it's out. Can't wait to wander the Deep Roads again, it was my favourite dungeon from Origins, despite the Broodmother (or maybe because of her, since I was totally unprepared for that creature^^).
Okay, now I'm back to lurking around the thread^^

Pretty sure I didn't get that romance version in JoH. Except for my Solas romance run, I've played it post epilogue and as we know (from our little disagreements over the issue) what carries over may be bugged. So since I always seem to get the "wrong" romance dialogue with Dorian post epilogue, that could be why I don't get the vertigo romance dialogue in JoH.
If anyone does get any Dorian romance references in the new DLC, please say where and when, so I can check if my romance version has carried over correctly.

I didn't get it either
(I've played just before the final mission)

Weird, I actually picked that dialog option but didn't get the "jump down after you" bit either. And that was post-game.

I wasn't even sure it was real, until I heard it in this video of party dialogue from JoH, and that was extracted from the game files rather than recorded in-game. I've never seen any videos of it actually from someone's playthrough, only the one about the Cullen romance - has *anyone* ever got it?

GORGEOUS shot. But... how did you get both of you one two horses since 3/4 people disappear when someone in the party mounts?

I've been in heaven ever since. He's even more adorable and heart wrenching than I imagined and I haven't finished my playthrough yet. I shouldn't be surprised really. I've always gravitated toward Gaider's characters. His snark is the best~
I especially appreciated the 'take things slow' option. It fit my Trev so well, though the sex scene is beautiful in its own ways.
I'm trying to get caught up on past pages. Love seeing the artsy things and everyone's take on his story.
A question though: (sorry if its been asked) is there any difference if you don't take Dorian to Admant as far as romance dialogue? By some miracle I haven't spoiled his romance arc for myself but I did see that he freaks out a bit afterward? So I wanted to see if taking him or leaving him safely in Skyhold makes a difference.

I love Dorian, I really do, but the puns hidden in his name (whether intended of not) just undo me. His beauty, cockiness, wit, and hedonism as a young man scream Dorian Gray. I can deal with this. I even appreciate this, but the fact that Bioware named a time traveling mage Dorian, which sounds a lot like DeLorean is just…
PLAYER GREATLY DISPROVES
And yet at same time if the similarity in names was not intentional my disapproval rating is so massive that it is beyond salvaging.

Welcome to the Dorian thread
. I would actually suggest you not read too much of the thread until you've finished the romance if you don't want to be spoiled, then go hog wild lol. And feel free to start discussion topics again. This thread can stagnate and it will be fun to have a new person's take on things.
There is one dialog response that will differ, but his overall concern will be the same and also be mostly similar to the friend dialog. That particular scene holds a special place for me for head-canon reasons and I view it as a turning point in the relationship.
It should be noted that for most of the big missions all of your followers are still there supporting the troops. For example, even if you don't take Blackwall in your main party, you can still see him in the background in the final Adamant cutscene, so it's not like they have no basis for their reactions. You know I'm not sure which is more traumatic: seeing your boyfriend fall into a rift and waiting around for a couple of hours thinking he's likely dead, or the actual ordeal of going through it with him, which carries with it its own burdens. Probably the latter.
But... is there a reason you wouldn't take him along? Not sure if you did on your first play, but there is also an interesting dialog between him and Varric during the Fade sequence, but I don't know if that is replaced by something else if you take different people.

And it's not that I don't want to take him on my romance run, it's just-as you pointed to-wondering if he would react in a stronger way if he had to watch from the sidelines and wait. I can't remember if I've ever had him and Varric go through together though so I'll definitely give that a try.
My romance picks always get toted along with me everywhere. Poor things. Going through JOH without Solas was like pulling teeth so at least I get to keep Dorian close this go around.
I'm not that great at discussing characters though. I can never quite put down my thoughts well enough and Dorian seems to have many layers that would have me speaking in a jumbled mess. xD
One thing I love the most is just how much more you really see into these characters if you romance them. This has never hit me quite as much as it has in this game. Dorian can hold his own but I still want to wrap him in a blanket and keep him safe. They did an amazing job with all of it but especially those little cracks where you glimpse what's underneath that protective layer of sass he has.
I'm sure I'll have lots of questions to ask as I get further in though. I just hate that I've come in so late.

Pre-ending it seems to trigger. Of course this happens:Weird, I actually picked that dialog option but didn't get the "jump down after you" bit either. And that was post-game.
Inquisitor: To the void with walking! Barrier me!
Dorian: (sighs and casts Barrier) Not again.
Inquisitor: (jumps off the cliff) I can fly!
Dorian: (yelling after him) That's not flying! It's falling with style!

It was disappointing how little conversation we got from the companions in this DLC. Still Dorian had more to say for himself than Cassandra. Then after we finished main quest, they started chatting among themselves again but unfortunately it seems Dorian must have got a bit lyrium addled because he's discussing the possibility of Cassandra becoming Divine when he knows that has already been decided. However, I'm going to take him and Cole for a little wander just in case I can finally get the Cole/Dorian romance dialogue. Back at base Dorian still seems to think that the next thing to hit us will be a plague of bees. Which is odd because he was saying that after JoH and now he knows something far more interesting occurred. Let's hope the next DLC (whenever that is) will have some new companion dialogue.

Well there were tons of Darkspawn, ancient dwarves with machine gun crossbows, a giant freaky rock monster, and a number of other crazy things that makes the Well of Sorrows seem almost quaint.

Weelllll.....
he did spend a lot of time face-planted in my game, which is probably why he didn't complain too much. He did better once I made him some guard-generating armor. I fear when one of my quizzies who romanced him drags him down there, he's going to spend the whole time saying, "I'm not talking to you until we get home!"

Enemy drops him, Simulacrum triggers and gives him 10 seconds to fight and cast spells with no mana cost before being knocked out. Dorian kills a mook and once those 10 seconds are up pops up with 25% of his total health. As long as you can get a kill you can't be taken out Naturally, I named his staff "I Live, I Die, I Live Again!"

After the first initial post-game dialog where he says whatever thing regarding his stay/leave status he will continually say his remark about the bees whenever you click on him. Thus far the DLC, regardless of whether you play them peri or post-game seem to be self-contained in that they have no influence over the rest of the game. So, back at Skyhold Dorian still says his bee thing and so on.
