Heya And yea... I'm hoping to be able to get through Descent soon and jump right into trespasser but that is probably in vain >< I just need everyone to stop with games and patches for a month or two so I can catch up

 

Did you guys see the picture someone made of Dorian out in the rain holding a boombox up? If not I'll find it on the twitters for you guys. It started because the writers were trolling everyone saying what their "favorite" parts of Trespasser is and Mike Laidlaw said his favorite was when Dorian holds the boombox above his head. Was fun

 

About pre-emptively worrying, I am doing that too. I am equal parts excited for new companion things and anxious about "WHAT IF EVERYTHING WITH DORIAN GOT SCREWED UP IN TWO YEARS!!!???" but then I always get anxious with BioWare and romances and time hops ><

Well I hope there won't be any bug in trespasser , it's possible , you only have friendship/lover state.And if he doesn't like you he's not there.
 
Because if I start trespasser and Dorian goes "Yo buddy "...I only have one save game.
The game is like 100 hours long....So chances are I would play trespasser even if Dorian is glitched and it would ruin things a bit to be honest.
 
I kind of hope he's been back to Tevinter no matter what because if he stayed in Skyhold he won't have much to tell...

I guess it might depend on what happened in the two years between. We don't have much of a timetable for Jaws of Hakkon or Descent, it could be that Dorian stayed on to help. Or Dorian hears about what's going on with a romanced Inquisitor's mark and runs back.

Just downloaded the new patch and have to admit that my Lavellan looks way better running around in Skyhold in anything but the beige outfit.   Why couldn't they have done this sooner?   I'm going to have to play through all those cut scenes with Dorian with the improved look.

 

More reflections while waiting for the next instalment.   My Lavellan has started to appreciate why Dorian could miss a place so much.   Because he has never known one place as home, and until he became Inquisitor he had never visited the Dales, he found it hard to understand how Dorian was so attached to Tevinter.    However, he has become very attached to Skyhold as his home, although that does have a lot to do, ironically, with its association with Dorian.    I did Champions of the Just with him so Dorian came into his life pretty much the same time as Skyhold did and so they seem linked by association in his mind.   Which of course is going to make it even harder if he loses Skyhold.     Still, if they don't kill him off, may be he'll finally be free to follow Dorian back to Tevinter.   That is if Dorian still wants him.     I tried the various permutations at the party to see what I got and taking the option of "Are you leaving", to which I get the response where Dorian says he'll stick around until he grows tired of me, I suggest the opposite that I could get tired of him and Dorian says "We both know that won't happen."    So true.

I'd have to go searching to find it, but I think Mike Laidlaw did confirm at one point Jaws of Hakkon does take place before the final battle (canonically you can of course play it before or after). I think the same is true for Descent as well, but I haven't played that one yet so I'm not as sure about it.

Gervaise - that's the option I picked, and I think it worked perfectly for the scene in the bedroom, the playfulness of that banter, leading into the 'opposite-speak' convo when Dorian teases the Quizzy about being boring and such.  *sighs dreamily  * Darn it, makes me want to run another playthrough with Dorian as my LI and I still have 6 un-romanced companions!

I've done other romances.   I started with Solas, which emotionally scarred me.    I prefer playing elves so being able to romance an elf seemed like a good idea at the time.    However, I'd been regretting starting off with a female Inquisitor precisely because she couldn't romance Dorian.   Seriously, if he'd been an option for her then she'd have been saved from Solas breaking her heart.   Seeing what a good friend he was made me go straight back and start again with Dorian as the aim.    

 

I've also done Cassandra and Josephine and whilst I enjoyed them, particularly bringing out Cassandra's softer side, neither has had the same emotional pull on me as Dorian.   Which is why I went back and played through again with my hunter Lavellan making sure I made the choices that I wanted to be my canon play through and doing a complete run with everything in it.    So apart from few mosaic pieces, a few bottles and a couple of notes in the Hissing Wastes, I have done everything and we've been revisiting areas with different companions in the hope of triggering some of the missing dialogue while waiting for next week and the final DLC. 

 

In some ways I'm glad they are going to finish off the story properly rather than leave things hanging as with Warden and Hawke, but in others I'm a bit sad that I know it is going to be the end.    I just hope it doesn't end in tears, unless they are tears of joy like I had when we finished off Corypheus and I saw the look on Dorian's face as we celebrated.    That still gets me every time.

I finally finished my first ever Dorianmancing playthrough last night, after two previous playthroughs with him as a friend, and it was wonderful. Better than I'd ever imagined. So many lovely moments and impeccable acting on both sides. Now I'm all ready to have my heart stomped on by Trespasser on Tuesday. 

 

 

 

 

Oh, and, for the curious, since we were discussing it before: I did talk to him at the party, because of course I did, and then checked the Keep post-game without talking to him again, and got the 'Dorian stays' tile. Yay! I then clicked on him for science and got the 'leaving' line, so ... who even knows. I guess I'll see on Tuesday! But I did adore his 'there's no you in Tevinter' line. *dreamy sigh*

I've just finish it. And....It was very good, bittersweet but good! I'm very proud of both my Inqui and Dorian.

I played it , happy with the ending and Dorian....I just wished we had a certain option available .

Maybe  not marriage but at least the whole propose, Inquisitor getting on one knee , would have been nice.

I'm kinda ok with Dorian saying "please don't follow me in Tevinter".

I thought him and my Lavellan would break up because my elf would go back to the Dalish, but he disbanded the Inquisition , and is now a Red Jenny.Also I picture him as a nomad so he's probably going to cause mayhem in one town and move to the next.

Now it's just headcanon but I imagine my Lavellan has his own goal , and he doesn't give a crap about human in Tevinter and magisters.But he would probably try to keep elves away from Solas /the Qun.

So he may pop up in Tevinter from time to time to help a couple of slaves , and build some kind of Red jenny over there.

Now I can't imagine magister Dorian Pavus saying out loud ,"Yes , my lover is a Red Jenny." , he would loose any credibility. 

 

So it works for me , both of them creating mayhem in their own ways and trying not to step on each others toes.

exactly how I feel. I mean if I had to play the whole game again I would still choose Dorian without a doubt and I love how he knows what he wants and goes to Tevinter whether you want him to or not, but....he really doesnt want Inqy in the same country as him does he? There is nothing holding quizzy back now so no excuses on 'oh but Inquisition needs you', he just really doesnt want you tagging along? Because cramp my style? Which is on point by the way, as usual ...Even though I still love Dorian, having a talking crystal for a boyfriend who sometimes calls  you "on rare occasions" for secret meetings and you come running is a really sad thing for my quizzy and something I dont want for him. So even though it would have sucked big time I think I'd have left him and remained friends all this being said, jesus balls Ramon did amazing work with the emotional scenes knocked it out of the park, and I really will miss his "velvety voice."

I agree with you. I think it's great that he wants to go back permanently to change his country for the better, but I wish I'd had the option to say "That's fine, but this isn't the kind of relationship I want." I think I would've preferred that over Dorian going "I'm going back for good and you can't come, but here's a magical totally-not-a-mobile-phone so call me maybe."

The LDR works for some of my Inquisitors. The ones who decided to keep the Inquisition around, they tend to be ambitious and like playing The Game and for them the result works. Dorian and them both understand having duties, ambitions and passions beyond the relationship and are willing to let themselves and the other devote themselves to it. The ones who'll disband? Noooot really. It's not that these don't  have things to do and just wanna ride off into the sunset with their BF and laze around in his Tevene palace, it's the opposite. They've got **** to do and that unfortunately does not involve the occassional furtive, politically sensitive rendezvous.

 

Do you guys think Dorian not marrying you is cuz of his political ambitions? If he gets married to some nice Tevinter girl in DA4 to solidify some alliance or something we're gonna have a... talk.

Honestly, the ending didn't really bother me that much. I was just glad there wasn't a forced break up. My Inquisitor is a human noble who disbanded the Inquisition, so there's really no reason for him not to be in Tevinter (unlike elf or qunari Inquisitors) whenever he wants and for however long during whatever points he's on a break from trying to hunt down and kill Solas.

 

The automatic "you can't come with me" was probably there to keep it from looking like one Inquisitor made from a better romance option for Dorian than another. That and I'm pretty damn confident that he's definitely going to be in DA4 in some capacity and they didn't want to deal with "why aren't you with the Inquisitor" if they decide to have the Inquisitor pull a Warden.

I'm totally fine with the Dorian romance ending, but that would be really terrible.  I hope that they don't go that route.  I think that they won't.  I mean, it's one of the biggest parts of his story arc - the fact that he wouldn't do that when his father asked.  It'd be completely out of character for him to do that in DA4.

Me too. I was like, "Oh, awesome!  Same sex marriage is officially a thing in Thedas and my Adaar and Dorian are totally getting hitched at some point in the future......Oh, um, sorry to hear about your dad, Dorian.......****!"  I did love that Cassandra was supportive of them, though.  She's a total ally!  Love that gal!

Yeah, I think this is exactly the reason.  It's a preemptive "Letter from the Warden" approach.  This way, regardless of whether he was romanced (by the Inquisitor or Bull), they'll have a way to explain away his lover's absence.  I'm okay with it, frankly.  It's not the best ending, but it's certainly better than what happened with my other two romances.  Warden Aeducan and Zevran might be traveling together, but the last we saw Zevran, he was in the Free Marches sans dwarf (and suprisingly open to a threesome with Isabela and Hawke.... stupid bug!).  Hawke's boo was a crazed possessed terrorist.  He decided not to murder-knife him, but the relationship was over when Hawke sent him away.  So, in comparison, I'll take a committed yet long-distance relationship with Dorian, for sure.

 

Anyone else get the banter with Dorian where he talks about hoping to get kidnapped by 'burly qunari pirates'?  My Inquisitor is an Adaar and Dorian's also flirted with Bull a bit, so it's pretty clear that Dorian love a big hulking hunk of horned muscle, huh?  Good for him!
