Thanks, Reznore57! I got nothing like that with a party of Dorian, Cassandra and Sera. Maybe goodbye party banter only triggers with a specific set of companions...do you have to click on those little white "Listen to..." lights to hear the "love you" banter with Dorian? And as I understand it, the dialogue will only trigger after the Winter Palace has gone dark and you enter the very first Eluvian which is in the palace itself?

Yes, it should trigger almost immediately after you pass through the eluvian.   As you head on down the path the mark plays up, Dorian comments about how you should have said something so he could help and then you get the dialogue options pop up.   It probably helps if you aren't running too quickly as it took me a bit by surprise and sometimes with these things it can disappear if you don't click on it quick enough.

 

I had Cassandra, Vivienne and Dorian in my party, as I did the whole way through, so I don't think who is in your party should make a difference.    I always select Dorian first, so I don't know if that had any effect.    Also made sure I took the various dialogue option points as I travelled through, including the one which results in a small romance dialogue with Dorian.    Plus I kept clicking on him every time I returned to the Winter Palace until I was sure I had exhausted all the options there.

My opinion about the Inquisitor-Dorian romance after Trespasser

AND my hopes for what comes after..

At the end of the original Inquisition I was sad about how the finale of the Inquisitor-Dorian romance went. I found it to be not too reassuring and too open-ended. 

 

The first companion I spoke to when starting Trespasser was Cassandra, who was yet again a victim of Varric's jokes, thinking I was going to ask Dorian to marry me. Comic-relief yes, but I thought it might actually be possible after I saw the dialogue option that "I had thought about it". Those illusions were swiftly destroyed when talking to Dorian, finding out he'd be leaving for Tevinter permanently.
After playing through Trespasser I felt neither sad nor happy about how it ended this time, I guess I was content that they had their SkypeCrystal to communicate through whenever they wanted. 
BUT I got happy after the slides in the epilogue ended, for I had hope - hope in the form of a dagger stabbing Tevinter. 

That hope is that the Inquisitor (as a npc I suppose) will travel to Tevinter in a potential Dragon Age 4 and that in that game, the Inquisitor-Dorian romance will finally get a satisfying happy-end!

 

By the bye - what was said on the last slide regaring Dorian in the epilogue - something about Dorian still helping the Inquisitor out in person from time to time?

I think it was the other way around, the Inquisitor would occasionally travel in secret to Minrathous to help out Dorian with whatever plans he had in Tevinter.

I can't seem to get the goodbye dialogue to trigger either (I play on PS4). Changing party composition doesn't help.

I thought I just missed it the first time I played through the DLC, so I went through it a second time using my other Dorianmancer guy, only to be disappointed. Definitely bugged.

Dorian could probably have a pretty important revolutionary role in the next game. Anyone here who would love the idea of Archon Pavus? (I mean c'mon, imagine him all in gold wearing elegant black vestments. Damn.)

I got that dialogue on my first character, but not my second. I just spent an hour with them messing around trying to get it to work and finally got it.

 

The difference betwen when it fired and didn't? The background BGM from the Palace was still playing each time it wasn't working. I walked around and played the fireworks mini-game a bit until the music stopped, then when I went through the mirror, the dialogue worked. Weird.

Hmm. Well, I suppose there are worse ways that the romance arc could've ended - and I did appreciate that Dorian was with the Inquisitor during the epilogue scene when they were planning their next move against Solas.

 

Also, did anyone else find it a bit hilarious/odd that Cassandra mentioned Dorian in her "are you getting married??" conversation? I feel like they've already indicated that same-sex marriage is not a thing in Thedas.

Thedas isn't against same-sex marriage. Its only the elites, nobles and royalty, who frown on same-sex marriage because it produces no heirs. This is particularly true in Tevinter, where the noble families betroth their child practically at birth for the purpose of their "eugenics" tradition of producing superior mage offspring.

 

I am especially excited to see Dorian in Tevinter in the next DA:I game. I want to help him restore the honor and glory of the Tevinter Empire!

Well, no, Thedas isn't against homosexuality. Same-sex relationships are fine in most parts of the world.

 

Same-sex marriage is a different question entirely. I don't think it's ever been mentioned anywhere in the series, which is why I thought it was weird that Cassandra mentioned it.

It says in The World of Thedas that a Magister cannot become Archon, so now Dorian is one, he's no longer eligible for the position. But that doesn't mean he can't wear all the black and gold he likes.

I got it with Cassandra, Sera and Dorian in my party, but it behaved a bit strangely - I reloaded that scene maybe 5 or 6 times to hear it because it was so lovely; the first three times it triggered, but then after that I tried it some more times and didn't get it. Something that important - telling Dorian you love him - really should have been a short cutscene.

I was wondering about something. Dorian is David Gaider´s character. And we won´t  continue working on the DA-series. Which is a shame, as I  was hoping he would continue being the lead writer.

Just popped back to say that whilst I enjoy the game best with Dorian as my romance and love the whole story arc between us, I also find my Cassandra romance run with Dorian as best friend a pretty good second best.    I usually have them both in my party either way but the dialogue between Cassandra and Dorian just now was priceless.    Also whereas it is in his letter to you as lover that Dorian says that Minrathous was dreadfully dull without you, as a friend you get a rather good dialogue to your face.   Apparently the only thing he really misses about Tevinter now is their wine.    Now there's a surprise! (Heavy sarcasm)

So like I hated Dorian for about an hour of the DLC and really needed a 'slap' option. But when he sounded so sad I couldn't be mean. Dorwian...

Also, loving that cute jab at marriage and Cassandra's 'I SHOULD SIT!'. It's also a reason why I can't play without romancing Dorian. He'll never get what he really wants out of Bull and that makes me sad. I mean sure, headcanon all you like, but I did this DLC in my nightmare playthrough with the Chargers dead and Bull is a real unpleasant four letter word beginning with c. Will play with Chargers alive in a bit. I missed Krem and his chair standing. 

Also, Dagna x Sera and Cole x Maryden forever!

I find it hard to be mad at Dorian , his father just got killed and instead of being a pariah (as in drunk in random brothel) he's taking responsabilities in Tevinter.Besides by getting the job of his dead father , he find out he was still the official heir , and his dad was trying to keep him from harm.

So when they could have build up a better relationship well...tragedy strikes.

 

I think mostly it feels weird the Inqui loose an arm and no one make any comment .The arm thing was done too quickly.

I mean I know duty first , but the whole I'm leaving right after the council is done , when one gets butchered and the other is mourning ...

Not that taking an armless inqui in Tevinter would be the brightest idea , mind you.

But I headcanon Dorian just didn't leave right away and stayed a couple of weeks .You can see him still in the South after the epilogue if he's LI so there's that.

Bull seldom comes off the subs bench in my play throughs, so Dorian never hooks up with him (thankfully).    When not romanced he is just really loyal to his good friend.  With my Cassandra romance play through we always seem in this odd sort of love triangle (platonic).   He's always taken a very avid interest in our romance.   May be it is because my guy flirted with him rather a lot before settling on Cassandra.     So in a way Dorian gets two for the price of one when it comes to friendship.

 

Not yet done my Solas romance run but did a sneak peak on You Tube.     Still glad that Dorian is my main romance.     Had a bit of a bad summer and was feeling rather depressed but once more Dorian has totally lifted me and I'm in my happy place again.

Dorian's appearance in the epilogue slide where he's standing on the balcony with Maevaris, where it looks like he's aged significantly and has let his hair grow out (and his hairline's receding or something)? I thought "man, being a magister must be stressful to age Dorian that much". But in other slides (e.g. Bull's romance) he looks younger, and if he's in the final scene at the new war room table he looks the same as always - maybe it was just a weird drawing.

What? Dorian is one of the most powerful, realistic and adorable characters I EVER EVER meet. Would be a shame AND absurd to let sutch a character "just go". Dorian should be part of DA4, even if it does not play in Tewinter. And even without the Inquisitor as PC.

 

(And I'm female and played always female, without having a romance with him (will not use mods on him). My Inquisitor is his best friend, thats all right and enough for her.)

 

  I really love ("my best friend") Dorian.

When he said his father was assassinated, my heart stopped. All I wanted was to take him somewhere private and let him cry and talk his heart out.

When he gave me the crystal, I was deeply touched. Even more so when he said the Inquisitor was his only true friend.

 

And when the slide shows he often talked to the Inquisitor via crystal, finding solace in your voice as much as you found in his, OMG THE FEELS

 

 

He's such a well-developed character you actually CARE about him, as if he were a real person.

Yeah, I don't know, if they'd kept his look consistent I think it wouldn't have been as jarring, but it seems to change from one slide to the next - e.g. his appearance looks pretty different in the slide on being attacked, which appears after the slide of him being on the balcony. Who knows, it's Dorian; maybe he just wanted to try out a different hairstyle for a bit, then decided it was a styling experiment gone wrong.
