All my male Inquisitors seem to prefer the company of men as well. Can't leave him back in Skyhold either.
This exactly. So far all my male inquisitors have settled with males and even one I have planned who isn't going to be in a relationship is just going to flirt with everyone haha (I am actually afraid this new one I'm planning will end up with dorian anyways..)
And every new profile I make, regardless of who they're romancing, I usually always have dorian with me when I'm out adventuring!

If anyone is still playing Heroes of Dragon Age, they just added another Dorian variant - Necromancer Dorian (for Halloween), and there's a higher than usual chance to get him in packs for another 3 days.

I also wanted to share a fanart commission I got recently - if you're on Tumblr you might have seen it already. It's a romance tarot for my Inquisitor and Dorian. The artist is Qissus.

I thought it fit in really well with the existing in-game tarots, so I framed them all together!

So I never really understood what people meant by the new Trespasser armor making Dorian's arm look "feminine"... I mean I just never saw it. But I looked at the screen Madzilla posted and the glass just broke... now I can't not see it ![]()

And finally, while I liked the new Trespasser armour a lot on my lady Quizzys, poor Dorian had some serious muscle wastage going on...
Spoiler
I like it too, but it looks really terrible on all the male characters. It's definitely for female quizzys only. I took a screenshot of Bull in the inventory screen with it on and posted it over in the bad screenshots thread. It's just so bad.

I don't think he looks feminine, just not muscular like we are used to seeing him look. I'm sure there are plenty of guys who have arms like that. It's a shame though, because that armor has some great elements in it that would be perfect for Dorian, I think.
And of course, most of us in this thread really like the arms he actually has, so

I'm thinking of creating an Inquisitor who will choose Dorian. I've never made an Elven character before so I wonder what that romance is like. Is it different if he's a mage compared to a warrior or rogue?

Welcome aboard, enjoy your trip on the D-mance train! ![]()
There are some miscellaneous lines here and there, the most notable being your first conversation with him after recruitment. But there isn't any significant difference, no. Actually, with that line I'm not sure which dialogue takes priority: class dialogue (mage vs non-mage), racial origin (Qunari, dwarf, elf, or non-mage human). For instance, if you play an elven mage do you get the elf dialogue or the mage dialogue? I think that the mage dialogue might be restricted to the human mage, since they were part of the Circle system, so then you would get the elf dialogue. I happen to think that the non-mage human has the cutest flirt opportunity, but that's just me

I've already made two Trevelyan Inquisitors. The first was a male rogue and the second was a female mage. It's time for something different and an elf is the last character I haven't tried yet. If an Dalish Inquisitor has unique dialogue with Dorian I'm hoping it's good.

Oh I wasn't trying to get you to pick human...
From my reading, it seems that the Dalish dialogue has the most potential for role play opportunities because you can have really varied responses ranging from hostility to nonchalance. He knows the least about the Dalish, and wants to make friends, so he's a bit wary. In comparison, both the Qunari and dwarf conversations have a bit of info about Tevinter, the mage Trevelyan is about the Circle, and the non-mage Trevelyan gets the personal information. They're all delightfully varied

Here's a question... Do you all think the sending crystal requires magic to activate? That is, would a non-mage Inquisitor have to rely on Dorian initiating a call?

My headcanon for that is that opening the locket thing (that we see Dorian wearing in the ending slide) 'activates' it - sort of like a flip phone, I suppose, heh. Either to answer or initiate the connection. I was also considering what the "ring" would be like - I've seen most people suggest that it would glow, but then again they might not notice that if it's under their clothes (or they're asleep), so maybe there's some sort of physical sensation as well, like when a phone vibrates? Or gentle heat? I suppose being magic, the possibilities are endless...
Are you talking about
SpoilerThat was pretty funny, and I couldn't resist the flirt option every time I went back to replay that conversation. I have no idea what quizzy says with the non-flirt options there.

I think there is only one specifically elf dialogue that you get, where you can be a jerk or more pragmatic about the state of elves in Tevinter. I tend towards the latter because it is clear that Dorian is trying to be friendly, although I have to admit after the whole conversation about slavery, with him suggesting that I don't know what it is like to be poor any more than him, I am tempted to be a jerk. I am pretty sure that line was written for a human Inquisitor because it is perfectly true that Trevelyan, even in the Circle, has probably no idea what it is like not being a noble, but I don't think it is like that for the other races since Vashoth mercenary or a Carta dwarf implies they come from poor background and life for a Dalish is no picnic. The whole point of our Dalish mantra is that we are free. To be fair to Dorian, I was also irritated when Josephine was saying how hard it was for her family; I helped her of course because that's what I do.
Funnily enough that armour looks okay on a male elf because we're skinny anyway.
It must be possible for either party to activate the connection because he specifically says "If you miss my velvety voice, Magic." Whatever enchantment has been placed on the crystal, it will work for anyone regardless of whether they are a mage or not. Otherwise you'd be missing his voice but not able to do anything about it. It might have a key word though, so only you could use it. Then that would be what activated it. For example, "Amatus" which activates the crystal and is the first word Dorian or the Inquisitor hears. Alternatively, if you are his friend, then may be the Tevinter word for that.

I like both of these!
As for the "ring," I was also thinking a glow, perhaps also accompanied by some sort of gentle chime. There are a lot of magical sound effects in the game -- and in many fantasy games -- so it's really not hard to imagine some sort of sound.

First meeting with Dorian and James is suspicious of the Tevinter Mage. Despite how handsome he is with his impressive stache game.
Dat Dorian facial impression sends shivers down James's spine.
Apparently shite gets real when you mess with the time space continuum.
