Yea I was looking at the bust a bit ago and it's cool, but for some reason it really bothers me that his arms don't exist. I mean I get that it's a bust, but it just looks weird to me.

After this fanart of a Dorian bust, my standards for that are pretty high... (And they so win all the cookies for referencing the banter.)
I think in Dorian's case that it might be better if he weren't wearing any clothing, so only the head, neck, and come collarbone is depicted. Then again, I'm a minimal sort of gal and I go for a less-is-more approach to many things. So is my Inquisitor, actually, making Dorian's "austere" remark quite accurate.

Personally I wouldn't mind having a full statue of Dorian, without the clothing, like the statue of David by Michaelangelo. Alternatively with minimal drapery, so it leaves something to the imagination but you still get to see that perfect body. I'll probably stick to the calendar if I get anything at all. I'm a bit disappointed, though, that Iron Bull is July as I wouldn't really want to see him staring at me on my birthday. So I think I may use my own screenshots and make up one of my own. Then I can have Dorian gazing at me every month of the year.

Okay I've waited for someone else to post but Dorian's been down on page 2 all evening so feel compelled to add something. It may seem trivial but the floating moustache seems to be getting worse. I've been re-running the Templar run from closing the Rift to the arrival in Skyhold because I wanted to capture the screenshots of Dorian's arrival at Haven and helping Roderick and half my shots are useless because of the damned floating moustache. I almost feel like getting the mod to remove it altogether so I don't have it stuck up his nose. What I don't understand is why on some shots it is fine and then almost the next frame it isn't and vice versa.
Anyway, rant over; Dorian should be back where he belongs on page one.

This is not a trivial problem. I had terrible trouble with Dorian's moustache on the PS3, but since I switched to PS4 so far it's been fine. The glorious thing has stayed in place
. The worst offending scene was the one you've described. I did the Templar mission specifically to get these extra scenes with Dorian, and his moustache was rammed up his nostrils most of the time.
Not moustache related, but Dorian related, I've been going through my screenshots and found a few that were just Dorian and some of my previous Inquisitors just hanging out in various maps. Sort of 'what we did on our holidays'. ![]()

If anyone does any fic writing, as I do, and wondered whether the term "boyfriend" was lore appropriate for the setting, I discovered that it certainly is!
Iron Bull: So, your girlfriend is a smith.
Varric: Yes…?
Iron Bull: She makes weapons… with her own hands?
Varric: Among other things…
Iron Bull: That’s hot.
Also, in DA2 Anders uses the term "sweetheart," so that's okay as well.

This probably isn't the best place to ask this, since we're all friends of Dorian here, but, out of curiosity, does anyone know how they handle Dorian coming back as ambassador for Tevinter if he was not on good terms with the Inquisitor when he left? I gather he does come back and you can even use him in your party, so you would get the first scene when Teagan is hanging around but what about other ones? Does Mother Giselle still says she is going to apologise to him? Does Varric still hold a party for him? I assume that he doesn't still give an amulet to the Inquisitor, so does the epilogue just mention about the lucerni and leave it at that?
As for how I would describe our relationship to others, I prefer soul mate because that implies a much deeper connection than simply boyfriend, but that's just me. My elven term of endearment for him is "Ma Sa'lath", which translates as "My one love", which I think is what my Enavir would use as his activation word for the amulet. He also calls him "Emma Vhenan", which is "My heart".

^ I've only used the term once in my canonical writing -- and a couple of additional times in miscellaneous drabbles that don't really count -- but only as playful dialogue between the two guys. I try to interject some humor and playfulness when I can because I tend to write a lot of angst, so I need something to counter it. My guy kind of wavers between public and private most of the time. He's rather emotional and affectionate, and likes to show it, but he's also a private person and there are many things that are reserved for alone time. Even though he does think of Dorian in romantic terms, they would be too personal to use around anyone else. He's also keenly aware of this aspect of himself and is wary of being overbearing or smothering in his affection, especially at the beginning when everything is new.
It's rather odd though, I'm not sure I know how he would introduce Dorian in that manner. He's used to being around people (in Skyhold) who already know, and would think that it's not really anyone else's business. But if outsiders observed a certain closeness and asked, he would happily admit to it. The only time he has had to introduce Dorian was when (post-game) he took him home to Ostwick (I'm still writing this one out), but his parents already knew about the relationship itself from letters, so all that was left was to present the man himself.

regarding the dorian bust, i am very much conflicted about it.
i am going to sound like an arse, but i am not impressed much. the painting lacked details.
and no sideboobs?
but it's the rare dragon age figurine-type merchandise that i collect. and i could repaint it in marble.. and i wonder if this doesn't sell will they not continue with other characters.
made a thread commenting about it at the merchandise board. do bioware check on that part of the forum?

^ I was withholding criticism of that sort since it's not something I would purchase regardless, and I don't like to make others second guess their purchases if it's something they were happy with, but I completely agree with your observation about the quality.
There are many things that I refuse to order online because I will want to look at several and pick out the very best. A blob of paint here, a tiny chip there, these things happen, but I'm not paying for something with those kind of flaws. I had to send World of Thedas Vol. 2 back to Amazon and get another because of a bent corner, and that's not the first time I've done it.

^ i understand the "not wanting to ruin things for other people who are perfectly happy with their stuff" feeling completely. sometimes i feel i complain too much myself.
i try to only gave criticism when i see that it can be improved though. i do collect these sort of things so i have a basis for comparison, and if i am paying for it i'd want it to be worth my money. the sculpt itself looks good, but the coloring ruins it.
what i really want is a fully articulated dorian figure like what they're doing with alistair. oh the things i could do with him.

I think he'll be a role model for the Human Mage PC....

I don't think he will be a companion, but you never know. If he is in the next game I can see an advisory sort of role. Or, depending on the plot, we may just run into him as a significant part of a single quest chain/story arc.

Getting a bit tired of the constant Adoribull pushing by BioWare though - the marketing for the busts, the movember posts ... I guess it just makes me sad, as a hardcore Dorian romancer, like my poor quizzy isn't good enough for him in their eyes. I suppose I feel like the PC/NPC romances should take priority... I'd feel the same if I'd romanced Bull, I'm sure. But I'm grateful, at least, that it's completely optional even if you don't romance either of them, unlike, say, Fenris and Isabela, but still.
Anyway, I also just completed NaNoWriMo, writing about my Inquisitor and Dorian's adventures post-Trespasser DLC! I need to edit it, but at least it has an ending. (A happy one, of course. I couldn't leave them like that!!) That, and a friend's comment, makes me wonder ... Does everyone imagine their Inquisitors staying with Dorian after the end? Mine does, but I saw other people say theirs didn't, so I was curious what people here thought.

As the epilogue suggests we're both engaged in important business of our own (my Inquisitor is still trying to find out where Solas is and also had an Arlathaven to attend) but keep in constant contact and occasionally my Lavellan travels up to Minrathous to help out and spend time with his love. I don't think Dorian spends all his time in Tevinter either. If he can travel to the border of Tevinter to see Iron Bull, then I'm pretty sure he can spare the time to get down to Kirkwall occasionally, where Varric kindly provided a base for the ex-Inquisitor. In fact my Enavir looks upon the estate as their home and got Dorian to help him decorate and furnish it before he carried on north immediately after the events in Trespasser. As Dorian said, there will always be an us, but they are just spending time apart at present because the fate of Tevinter and probably the world, depends on it. The emotional connection is there wherever they are and that is why the crystal is so important.

While I'm not into the Dorian x Bull thing, they neither can they use the PC in such marketing. All of our Inquisitors are different. The only alternative is to not use it, which is apparently not their mindset. As for it being optional... well... I wouldn't be surprised if a non-romanced Dorian and non-romanced Tal-Vashoth Bull are together regardless of whether the player actually had the romance in their actual game. They are Bioware's NPCs and they can do as they wish. Unless the Inquisitor is actually in the next game along with Dorian, I don't expect either romance to get much play other than a throwaway line or two, just as happened with Leliana and the Warden in DAI. The Inquisitor is guaranteed to be alive, but Bull certainly is not, or perhaps even not recruited at all, so I don't imagine that the next game would devote significant resources to it.
What do you imagine your quizzies get up to after?
Grats on that. I have to be in the mood to write and have a current backlog of pieces that I'm working on that sometimes just sit there, untouched for weeks or months, until something pops in my mind. I recently finished one such piece that had been languishing since August. I have another piece that consists mostly of dialogue that I have yet to write all of the filler material for, and two more that contain unfinished sex scenes (no, not all of my stuff has sex in it, not even half).
As for your question... mine does as well, but it's not easy. Having to deal with the loss of the arm contributed to a lot of difficulty, particularly since (as part of my head-canon), he was terribly injured once before and Dorian helped him through that recovery process. But they had previously talked extensively about Dorian's return to Tevinter, so while my guy is not "okay" with it in a general sense, he understands that it's something Dorian needs to do.
I suppose my failing in writing any sort of long-term post-Trespasser fic is that I'm not really sure what my guy (now the former Inquisitor) is supposed to be doing. Yeah, he's looking for Solas, I guess. And...? My creativity is sometimes lacking with stuff like that, particularly since I dislike deviating too much from actual game events. Almost all of my writing takes place within the confines of the main game, with actual events, locations, and sometimes conversations (as with the post-Mythal conversation) alluded to numerous times.
My reasoning is that we see so little of the actual relationship development and private interaction between the two. So much of a relationship is simply about being together, but we don't get to see any of that, which is as it should be for individual player head-canon. I've written them as such that I can actually read them in order as I play along if I choose to do that.
And a general question for you all... do you have Adamant as a turning point in the relationship? I do, partly based on Dorian's reaction in the post-Adamant conversation, and also because my Inquisitor was really negatively affected by the whole Fade experience; non-mage, afflicted with the Anchor, questioning his faith, terrible nightmares (recall that Solas says the Anchor allows the Inquisitor to dream with great focus)... he's just all sorts of messed up.

As Dorian said, there will always be an us...
Omg, he says that? I'd forgotten as I've only played through Trespasser once, and at the time I was blown away and doing some hard-core fangirling over the fact that he says, "You are the man I love," in that one scene. I damn near died right there in front of the computer.

My Inquisitor and Dorian are definitely together long-term. I'm writing my second ever fanfic (really, Bioware games are the only reason I ever write fanfic) about it, though the Dorian part comes near the end, and it has a lot to do with my Inquisitor dealing with the loss of his arm and feeling uncertain of himself and his identity. My Inquisitor accepted Sera's offer of becoming a Red Jenny. And though I'm certain this won't be validated later on, it really seemed to me like Sera was offering the Inquisitor an Inquisition-detached organization that he could utilize as he saw fit. So, Sera, Dagna, and my Trevelyan are travelling together and are heading for Tevinter after visiting Ostwick and gathering contacts along with way. Dagna crafted the crossbow prosthesis and continues to improve upon it, while Sera and my Trevelyan prepare for Solas.
