Will you guys entertain one last question/hurrah before it all ends?

 

I'm starting (well, picking back up) a Dorian-mance, using a mage Lavellan. I can't decide on a personality. It's between "nice/gentle" and "aggressive/angry." (I think I'm not interested in the middle/snarky one b/c it's too much like Dorian). Which would you guys says works better with him?

 

Both the diplo , will get you Dorian going "awww an unicorn!" a couple of time.

And when you're direct with him , I think it might get him a bit hot in the pants sometimes.

There's no Dorian thread yet , and I don't feel like the best person to start one.

Hmm...I feel like at least one "handsome" has to be thrown in as well. I came across one of my screenshots while copying out my character files where he quite emphatically states he's more handsome than a cockroach.

Edit :I did a Dorian Thread at the new forum.But  I'm more more than willing to change the main post.

So anyone has an idea , because seriously mine kind of sucked , something a bit more dignified , I'm all for it.

He does. If Vivienne is the one who speaks in response to Dorian's introduction, she says "Let one Tevinter in, suddenly they're scurrying out of all the walls like roaches." He replies "Now, now, I'm ever so much more handsome than a cockroach." 

 

The video I watched had Sera, Solas, and Vivienne in the party. I don't know how these things are determined but I looked through some videos that had Vivienne in the party but also Bull and Cassandra and their line triggered instead. Oh my God, Bull, stop hitting on my love interest.

^ Ah gotcha, thanks. I've always taken Solas, Varric, and Cassandra. In that setup, Cassandra always says, "Another Tevinter. Be careful with this one." Dorian responds, "Suspicious friends you have here."

 

I thought I did see one video where Bull said something negative about Tevinters, and Dorian had the same "suspicious friends" remark.

 

I'm planning to do one run where I don't take anyone for that cinematic for screenshot purposes. I'm wondering if that dialogue is skipped altogether. As usual, I just have to add: poor Felix. I just want to hug him .

 

 

I don't regret my chosen playstyle of not taking paths that are too different, such as bringing along different people, but it is a shame that I've missed some lines like that.

Also I highly recommend using Vivienne as a primary party member in any Dorianmance pt because he seriously brings out all the best in her. There's one banter in particular about her getting a letter from a friend in Tevinter which really highlights the quality of her character. I honestly was always pretty meh on her but I used her a lot in my second Dorian pt and it really turned me around on her.

I've heard that romance banter about the Tevinter letter. I liked Dorian's "Oh... thank you," since he starts out with the snark and obviously wasn't expecting such a reply from her. I tend to focus on Dorian's responses in such scenes, naturally, because they say a lot about him and his feelings without being direct. He seems the most open with Cole, perhaps because there's no point in hiding, but also because of who Cole is as a "person." For example, with the Cole romance banter, even though Cole "reads" his happiness, Dorian openly smiles just thinking about it, which is so nice to see/hear. In comparison, he makes an evasive remark to Cassandra's comment, and takes the opportunity to needle Blackwall (lol) in a defensive manner.

I also like having Vivienne with you in Trespasser because I think she does show genuine concern, both for Dorian and the dangers he might be in when he goes back to Tevinter (not just from his enemies) and for the Inquisitor.   I really feel that she would have done her best to work with Dorian to come up with a way of helping you with the mark but events just proceeded too fast for them.   

 

Whilst I have never had her approval high enough to get it in the main game, there is also that comment of hers about Dorian when you ask her opinion of your companions. If your approval isn't high enough then she is pretty non committal but if she approves of you and you are in a romance with him, then it is clear she has succumbed to his charm.

 

I do sometimes wonder who would make the best Divine when it comes to Dorian's efforts back in Tevinter and I have to admit, that whilst I can't really get my head around them choosing her for Divine let alone want it (but have ended up with the situation regardless), having such a strong, politically astute, mage as Divine in the south, who clearly has contacts up north and approves of Dorian, might not be the worst idea in the world.   I can actually see her being more proactively involved in assisting him than either of the other two.   It would certainly be interesting seeing the reaction back in Tevinter to the news.

As I recall, Bull actually warns you against trusting "the pretty ones." 

 

If I didn't dislike the Dorian x Bull pairing I might have thought it was cute.
