I've never actually tried Insanity in single player ha.  How hard is it?  Can someone compare it to a difficulty?

Silver maybe I would say. Once you understand all the combos and get access to Shepard and two other ability trees, it's easy mode.

It teeters on the fence that separates bronze and silver

I had some games yesterday that were horrible - there were hints.

Things like smart chokes on Crusaders, two deaths on wave one, all three of them dropped once by wave three.  Suddenly it was like I had a fan crowd of little peeping ducklings, all hanging around my every step.

Interesting thing about these ducklings - they get brave.  Wave ten escort, the bravest gosling wanders off and is ripped apart by alligators very quickly.

And so ends the story for him.  *wipes the corner of my eye*  My contact lenses, you know.  They make your eyes water.

So tell me, brave souls...  how do you deal with the silence of the ducklings?

Haven't played SP in ages, but I struggled on bronze after about 4 insanity playthroughs.

When I'm joining a game in progress and while still in the loading screen I hear "teammate has flatlined" about 4 times.

And you wake up being humped by a husk, or worse... ^_^

When I get fully geared up for gold and join a game with a minute before extraction. Earn about nine credits and lose all my lvl4 stuff. The flip side of that is "quick match" with no gear, and instead of a forum get Glacier Collectors Gold with one teammate.

I was in a match the other day against the Reapers, and got sync killed by a Banshee at precisely the same instant as another player got sync killed on another part of the map. I could see his silhouette through the wall in the corner of the screen, dying in complete sync with me (sync-sync killed?). It was not a good sign

I'd say Silver, but after I finished two Insanity runs I still had to play a couple Bronze matches to get used to everything. I went back and replayed SP after pugging Platinum for some time and Insanity was a total joke ;)

I usually know exactly when I'm ****** even when I still have all of my shields on.

I know it will be a grind if the first 2 waves last for more than 5 min, and By the time of first objective I have 3x score of the second guy.

Yesterday's pug on dagger is a good example - wave 3 devices and first minute as I was engaged heavily, I notice that we still didn't do the first one. Now suddenly two pugs go down completely- stomped and The first device is down in the corner - one of the toughest positions and I just sighed. I knew it's a lost cause before I proceeded to waist all of my equipment.

Naturally the second device was just a few feet away - the second worst position possible and then a brute charged me while I had only half a second to complete the device. I rage quit.

I know the game is going to go wrong when everyone are the same N7 level as me. Or when I hold top score with a non-vanguard character.

Also, when I run out of medigel, of course the team is going to get wiped.

"Oh look, an Atlas! Okay, we just have to be a little bit careful-" *vanguard charges*

I've never got killed when charging an Atlas...

Was in a lobby with two low n7/cp guys. Oh well, how bad could it be? Knew we were in trouble when I couldn't see any of the enemies. That could be a new challenge. Sure you can solo platinum, but can you solo platinum against invisible enemies? I bet I could flame my way through a bronze wave or two.

Yeah but that's getting used to hoard mode. Just a different set of rules. Neither are particularly hard other than hitting Marauder shields at the end.

Lag issues (especially on something like Condor/Geth) aside, what happens on wave 3 is often a good indicator on how much pain/fun the match will be for me.

Players nuking spawns & going down across the map from the objective are not a good sign. A smooth 4-player escort usually bodes well.

I had a lot of those moments this past weekend. For some reason just a lot of not so good pugs this weekend. Perfect scenario is my buddy signs on when we're on wave 8 (only 3 in the game because one guy either got disconnected or quit). He decides to join, he gets in with one enemy left in wave 8. By extraction he was maybe 10k out of second place.

I know I'm in for a long game if I'm outscoring, or close to outscoring the other 3 put together. It doesn't bother me much if they aren't dying a lot, or dying in bad places. It's kind of nice to have 3 decoys running around. I just wish they'd do a little damage because the games tend to go 24 minutes when that happens, and that makes me sad face.

I see any alternate banners, I know there will be a "shower of bastards" that steal mah kills, and revives. Detonate MY BIOTIC EXPLOSIONS, blow me up with possessed Abombs, feed me to instakill enemies, etc. In other words the moment I know it's going to go horribly wrong, I know it's going to be a fun game of ME.

When the rest of the players in the game are following me saying "Here let me get that." After I drained the enemies health down most of the way. Thats usually when I say "Hey guys cover me I got to do something." But I don't come back.

Happens to me once in a while. If I am playing the right character on the right difficulty and the right map, I can sometimes carry them all. Last weekend, a trio of ducklings tried out a UUG (Reaper/Reactor) with me. They had decent equippage and a good mix of characters, but they left me as the only one up on wave 2. On wave 3, one of them picked up the pizza and then held her position by the door of the reactor, shooting baddies. I tried to tell duckie to deliver the damn thing or drop it to no avail. Eventually, he (a guess) dropped it by accident. I delivered both of them. On waves 4, 6, and 8 (the final wave, it turned out) all three went down. I spent a couple of gels on 8 (I am not fond of Reactor) but decided not to spend more than two, especially when they weren't spending ANY. I finished with 160k points - the next closest had 60k, the other two less than 10k each.

And then, we got back to the lobby - and they kicked me out. Seriously.

Happened to me recently. Hate it. Woke up on a Gold/Hazard Glacier/Reaper with all but one other player down and a Brute humping my leg against the wall. Went downhill from there. As a bonus, one player kindly messaged me after the game to advise me to "play lower difficulty missions" because I "wasn't ready for gold." Really?
