I prefer the companions having their own specialization like in DA2 rather than the "Let me teach you in 5 seconds what took me 5 years" thing Origins had.
Companion Specific Specializations? Or Available To All?

Companion specific specializations. Avoids the whole 'make Wynne a blood mage' type thing. Or the 'massive-armor-wearing-Arcane-Warrior-Wynne' type of thing. Maybe give a few different specs to choose from, but all of them in-character for the companion?
Give them back all the minor skill trees, though. Unless it somehow goes against their character, or something.
I want choices, but not character-breaking ones.

I liked the character specializations. However, I don't want to run into the situation again of killing off my healing mage if I'm not playing one myself. Especially if they are going to limit the use of potions like in DA2. Heck we didn't even have the option to even find a health recipe in DA2. You had to buy them. Kind of ticked me off actually. Same with me on Merrill and it didn't make any sense to me with Merrill her being trained as a keeper and no healing with her.
I really enjoyed building Fenris and Aveline differently and Sebastian's own special branch. Varric packs a punch with his special branch.

I like having companion specific specializations, since it helps to differentiate between multiple companions of the same class. I think it really adds to the character. I'm also admittedly not too worried about a healer since I tend to handicap myself and make games more difficult than they need to be anyhow. I'll probably be playing no healing and max difficulty, or with only two companions or something. I've grown to like punishment in my games, for whatever reason.
For those who would prefer to keep a healer on deck, hopefully all mages will have some healing even if there is one with a better specialization for it. Though it makes me wonder if mana is going to have slow regen or something to keep the healing in check since it could ultimately defeat the purpose of their new design.

I'd like them to have totally unique specializations.
However, I'm not opposed to the idea of them 'teaching' the inquisitor or fellow companions like in DAO
