I like to say 1st off I love RPG's , I was orginally a shooter type of gamer, until BW's Jade Empire and KOTOR.

Because of those two games I've been hooked ever since ......so this brings me to ME1 .

Once I played it I was a fan it was mind blowing to me , yes it had its flaws , mostly the shooter elements, which were really minor to me.

So once ME2 came around , I was taken back once I played, I thought they would top what they did on ME1.

In so many ways the did and they didn't, what I mean is the shooter part of the game was better but the lvl of customization was dumb down so bad it made me want to rage.

I got over it and played it multiple times like I did the 1st game....and just dealt without the customization because it was still an entertaining game.

So along comes ME3 which fixed a lot of the customization parts and even added more combat moves which was great ......so now we get to have a 4th game and I for one hope that we get all the great elements from all three games plus so things from non Mass Effect games.

As for what other things from other games and other customization elements , I would like to see a KOTOR type customization where we could upgrade the ship (not like ME2 upgrading) we more weapons and computers funiture etc. that can be upgraded.

More weapon customizing , more armor customizing with decals , tattoos for your hero, I want to see  number stats for weaopns ,parts , armors , vehicles and my hero and his / her crew mates in game .

I want to be able to toggle my hero and crew mates helmets (ME1 style).

.

So these are just a few of my wants.

  • BSNers do you want more ?
  • What customization do you want in the next ME game ?
  • What customization don't you want in the next ME game ?

I thought ME2 did a much better job of giving us freedom to make our Shepard's armor more unique. In ME1, it was whatever armor you found while fighting (which I liked) but you couldn't change it up; it came one way and that was it. I liked being able to change the material of the armor, having more patterns to work with like ME2, and the wide range of helmets and other armor add-ons that were available in ME3. If they could make it so everybody who played the new Mass Effect could essentially have unique armor, I would be happy with that.

Nothing worse than going to save the world, and showing up in the same armor as the guy driving the medi-gel truck.

More customisation. If there was less than there might as well not be any at all. The next Mass Effect should have the level of customisation that ME1 had at least but with the improved menus and layout like ME2 had. I liked having the option to customise weapons, weapon mods, armour and even onmi-tools and biotic amps. ME3 gave weapon mods back but that was it.

The ability to modify your omni tool. ex.

  •  Flaming Omni Tool
  • Dual Omni Tools
  • Cryo Omni Tool
  • Electric Omni Tool
  • Dual Flaming Omni Tools

It did say in the Codex that some of the soldiers liked to modify there Omni Tools for there own personal tastes so it would be cool to do that.

The addition of more casual outfits maybe have them be in pieces (Hats, Shirts, Pants, Shoes). Maybe some tattoos depending on what the story of the character is going to be ofcourse an Alliance Marine isn't going to have a face tattoo. Bring back Mass Effect 1's scars. Being able to customize the main characters body as well and not just there face would be great. Also the ability to customize your squadmates armor (color, pieces, helmet on/off).

As far as weapons go I think the hit the nail on the head in Mass Effect 3. But they could stand to add a third or forth attachment slot for weapons. Thats all I can really think of at the moment that I "really" want in the next Mass Effect game.

Sincerely,

Prizrak

Thats what I would like also .....to be able to change your omni tool or to upgrade it , even if they were still class based , like the soldier  has the regular stab - blade omni tool , I should be able to increase the hardness or toughness of his blade for example by adding a diamond tip or coating or something and it could even be a trade off more weight could be added if I tinkered with it .

Maybe upgrading the omni tool so where it would make the blade pop out faster ....thus increasing the speed of  animation of the heavy melee and as a trade off the dmg cost maybe reduced.

I miss giving my squad the armor and biotic amps of my choosing , I'm  hoping that they bring in class spec. situations also like to open a certain door you need to have  a tech or eng. specialist or one in your squad to take care of certain task.

Why does it sound like a bad idea , it was like that in ME1 ...I just would like it taken further, like playing and Eng. now fighting Geth is a better situation for that class.... maybe add in situations where it may be better to handle certain things as a soldier or as a biotic....

The skill customization was great in ME3. I would love to see more of character/visual/armour customization for my future protagonist, though.

Playable aliens! Each with a good amount of cosmetic customization and maybe even different backstories for each race. (I personally want to play as an escaped Ardat-Yakshi with Dominate, and romance as many characters as possible )

I would also like more armor customization, like bodysuits from ME1 as options instead of having to wear heavy soldier armor. Maybe even wear street clothes in combat like some of the squadmates. More class customization would be nice too, like how the multiplayer classes have several different types of the same class with different powers. E.g. if you want to be an Infiltrator that uses swords in Story mode.

I think it depends on what you want to customize and how you want to customize it. For me:

Weapons:

No more weapon levelling. So no more level I - X crap. If I pick up/buy a weapon, I do not want to level it up to make it better. It should be at its best as soon as you get it.

I also do not want weapon mods, BUT I do want to mod gun stats in a positive/negative way. Let me explain: I want to be able to increase a weapon stat but only if I decrease another weapon stat. For example, I can increase weapon damage by +25%, but only if I decrease another weapon stat, such as accuracy or stability, by -25%.

Armor:

I would like armor stats separate from the armor itself. That is, I want to tweak the armor stats without tying the stats to specific armor pieces/armor suits. I would like a similar +/- stat system with armor as I would like with weapons.

 - I never really liked how if you wanted specific armor bonuses (such as +weapon damage or +power damage), you needed to equip certain armor pieces, even if I thought that armor looked ugly. Now you could need to purchase those armor pieces/bonuses from stores, but that would allow you to add/subtract that bonus to your armor without needing to equip that armor piece.

 - Like weapons, I would like to increase one armor stat, such as power damage by +25%, but at the expense of decreasing another armor stat, such as shields, by -25%.

Biotic Amps/Omni Tools:

No customization needed. Both only have 3 stats: Power Damage, Power Cooldown, Power Duration. These are (or can be) built into passives and power evolutions so no additional Amp or Tool bonuses are necessary, unless you have an additional +/- system like my weapon and armor proposals. However, these would only benefit non-Soldier classes, and so should not be considered implementing.

Squadmates:

I would like to see a limited armor customization like in ME3 return. I think giving squadmates 2-3 armor choices like ME3 had is fine; I would like to see the armor bonus separated from the armor; for example, allow me to select the armor I think looks the best, and allow me to select the stat bonus I think is best as well (if squadmates have stat bonuses like ME3).

Do I want more Customization?

Yeah!

More of:

Armor: More different types, if only aesthetically. Most of the human variants were somewhat bland sometimes, usually having slight aesthetic differences and minor changes to the actual performance of your Shepard (IMO, people will argue differently I know). Having a hood like a Fury, or armor like the N7 variants for the MC would be nice. Having more customization of squadmate armor would also be appreciated as the preset armor variants were sometimes black and white in their hit and miss. Liara in particular comes to mind with armor being rather bland, Ashley also.

Skills: I think ME1's massive amount of somewhat odd skills really isn't something to repeat. I remember on my playthrough of ME1 wondering why I had to spec points into hacking when to keep everything else decently leveled I was always too far back in hacking to get through a simple door. I didn't like that personally. Either reduce the amount of levels per skill or reduce the number of skills. That said some more variety than what was in ME3s would still be nice. If #space is really a big thing and there's a lot more movement on the ground and in the air a vehicle skill would be possibly of import and be interesting. Taking the Mako from being... Well, the Mako onto being something fun could be an interesting if tedious grind. One thing I think should come back from ME1 are the weapon skills. The general passives in ME3 are OK but I would prefer it if Powers/Shields and Melee/Weapons were the ones bound together. Either bind them or make ARs etc their own thing.

Weapons: I wanna be able to choose what color my gun is! And whether an attachment actually cosmetically appears (heavy barrel, yuck). Decals etc. would also be nice, along with maybe a couple different paint stripe options (like armor customization in me3, Stripe 1, Stripe 2, Camo). I think the variety of mods in ME3 was good enough.

Character: I liked the update from ME1 to ME2 in the change of facial structure and how things looked much nicer, but a little bit more detail would be nice in the hair department. That's about it :)

Less:

WEAPONS SHOULD ONLY BE ONE LEVEL, IN MULTIPLAYER OR OTHERWISE. That's not really customization but you get the gist.

That's about it.

Just to add, one thing I want to see in Mass Effect 4 is better hairstyles for human females. It would be nice to have more slider options when creating your character so u can get a unique appearance such as Maya Brooks or Ashley to Jack.

I'd like to see the ability to customize your armor extended to your casual outfit. Give us a little more freedom in terms of what we wear while on our ship or when we're somewhere like the Citadel.

And I like the idea of being able to upgrade and customize your Omni-Tool, maybe let us do that with the Biotic Amps too. It would definitely harken back to the first game when you could replace your Omni-Tools or Biotic Amps with a better model if you found one.

There are a lot of cool ideas here. I think it would be nice if we didn't have to wait until we arrive at the point of no return to unlock items, like with the delumcore overlay. More hair and facial options for males and females would be great. Getting more detail on a character without having to mod would also be nice.

Certain armors in the first game looked really awesome, such as the Geth armory gear for Krogan, but applied across the species board and being able to customize each part would be even better. I liked the armor set up in multiplayer, where the softer material under the actual armor could have its color changed. Also I like the Zaeed type armor with arms exposed, of course this would not be a practical armor for certain missions, but I thought it looked interesting.

I think it would be interesting to have weapons that have a similar look and feel to modern day weapons, but with a slightly futuristic design. I do really like certain assault rifles in the Mass Effect universe, but sometimes it is easy to get carried away and make a gun look to far out there. I thought the Typhoon was a good example of a rifle along these lines. I enjoy the look of the Mattock as well, and as some have noted changing the color of a gun would be quite cool. Perhaps have upgrading to a level X weapon available for a single playthrough, or get rid of weapon leveling altogether.

More customization seems to be number one on most players list.

Seriously? You do realize there are 5 other classes other than soldier right? Give soldiers an extra mod slot for weapons or something to throw them a bone, but don't drop something because only one class doesn't benefit.

Most of the things I'd like to see were already said (tweaking armor, etc.), so here are a few visual wishes from me:

Armor:

  • More variety in looks would be nice. Maybe even different armor fashion on different worlds? E.g. armor on Illium would focus more on the aesthetic aspects than normal armor, have good default stats for Biotics (perfect for asari), but be really expensive; armor on earth/earth colonies would look more like the typical armors in the previous games; armor from Omega would look more experimental (as it's from individual manifacturers), etc. I don't know, but I think this would give the game a nicer and more realsitic atmosphare. It would make shopping on other planets more exciting, too.

Character:

  • Personally, I'd like to have the scars from ME1 back. I'm a fan of customization, so I'd be all for some "sims-like-custom-screen", but that's porbably too much work. If that would be possible though,  I'd like to change the body type of my character. Like a slim, feminine-looking guy; a buff lady with a narrow waist; that kind of stuff. (Then again, I've rarely seen something like that in a game so it's probably too much work, I guess..)
  • I'd find it generally great if the body types of your companions would vary more. I mean we had a buff Vega and a very attractive body for Samara/Morinth, but that's it, I think?

To put it in a nutshell, I'd like to see more options that make the characters visually unique and special.

You have 6 classes. Why give 5 classes a benefit and punish the 6th? Especially if you try to keep the classes balanced.

And I said this before, but Omni Tools and Biotic Amps only have 3 real customization options: Power Damage, Power Duration, and Power Cooldown. These are already built into the powers themselves, and class passives, and armor pieces.. You do not need another customization option for this.

As for weapon mod slots, the Vanguard and Infiltrator are also weapon-focused, and you can ignore their tech powers completely. You going to punish them by not giving them an extra mod slot?

Putting them back into omnitools and amps would make sense.

I'm in full agreement with dropping any weapon levelling.

Let the entire squad have the sort of customisation that Shepard had for his armour in 2 and 3.

MASS EFFECT 3 is absolutely perfect, not too much, just perfect. What needs to be fixed is the people playing it and they need to learn its all about TEAMWORK.Not lone noobing it,hacking glitching and ESPECIALLY MISSLE GLITCHN.This game is epic, its the NOOBS that are DESTROYING it!

The customization in Mass Effect 3 was rather great. A few new ideas I have include being able to pick a color for your omni-tool and visor tint.

What bugs me a lot is how your 'customized' weapon of choice does not carry through cutscenes (like carrying a shotgun in game but showing up with a pistol in a cutscene)

Heavy and light Armour: I'd like to see light and heavy armour system make a return, lightweight can have better maneuverability whilst heavy armour moves more sluggish but has more protection. As well as looking the part of tactical armour and power armour.

Armour modifications: Simple basic armour upgrades that upgrades shields, damage etc. It can be restricting but has the potenticial to give the character a bit more identity.

Emblems: There were at times when I wish I could don the newly recovered Cerberus armour and change it to match the Alliance symbol.

Weapons: Enable bullet modification like in ME1, I never liked ME2 and 3 way of selecting ammo wirh disruptor, cyro and incendinary being the basic choices. All I am trying to say is, scrap that and bring back ammo modification. More in-depth detail into ammo types will go along way in strategy.

Facial customisation: I have been a feeling this area was lacking, trading scars options was a big mistake in favour of Lazarus scars. Hair and facial hair options needs to improved with more options with better detail.
