Unlocked her last week, and took a 66653 build into silver to learn the ropes. Played her like a Fury, and was lucky to escape with no gels left. BFocus is NOT a stim pack. This chick cannot take fire. So I have respeced to 44666 and have a new playstyle to learn.  I have a couple of questions.

1. Kalence qualifies the PStrike and NBlades damage as "vs. organics". Is it different for Geth and Atlas?

2. Am I right in figuring that the PStrike target must be between 1 and 3.5 meters away, or they take no damage?

3. Is NBlades an AOE power? Is there a limit to the number of targets that can be hit? How fast does the damage drop off with distance?

I have concluded that guns are critical to her success, so full passives are needed. Also, I want 4b 5a 6b fitness for decent barriers and melee. And BFocus is critical for survival, so full spec there. That leaves either 44 or 60 or 06 for powers. I could use suggestions there. Thanks to all.

1) PS & NB have poison & bleed damage that affect organics, but not Geth & Atlas.

2) PS is best used as a teleport; as an attack it is somewhat unreliable in my experience.

3) NB is an AoE power; the area is a cone spread in front of the character.

To anyone: if any of this is wrong please let me know.

I run her primarily as a weapon platform with NB for stagger, BF if I'm in a jam or PS to teleport. Someone told me to take PS only up to rank 4 for the range and it's worked wonderfully. You can then decide where to put the rest of the points if you plan to go full fitness, but I would take the weapon & headshot passives personally.

1) I don't think so. Blades still slaughter basic Geth Troops, Hunters, Rocket Troopers, etc. No idea on DOT or incapacitation but direct damage still works.

2)I cannot remember the exact AOE of it but I do recall it's damage/detonation begins 1 meter in front of where you initiate the PS. I do believe it is across a 2.5 m radius but I'm not sure. Check the Hidden Mechanics thread linked in the library for definitive info.

3) Yes they have a cone and diminishing damage like BB I believe with a target cap of 3 enemies. No idea on the drop off but effective range of power effects it. Explosive damage is uneffected by distance.

The blades bleeding effect is supposed to hurt synthetics. I remember people asking Bioware devs ho come "poison" hurts synthetics and the devs saying something to the effect of "Oh lets just say it's acid or something".

I regularly bring my Cabal to platinums (in fact she's the character I soloed platinum with). I have a pretty tanky build, and coupled with biotic focus she can take plenty of fire. Biotic focus is really good for negating DoT from banshee warps or atlas magic missiles.

Honestly I usually stay in as much cover as possible, shoot things, and GTFO when it gets too hot only to sneak back in and shoot them again. One Acolyte shot +  Nightshade Blades will destroy a Phantom on platinum. For everything else, there's a Lancer.

EDIT: I spec out of Poison Strike. It's too unreliable as a damage-dealer, and the Cbal's normal teleportation is pretty good as it is.

It is very lag dependant - you can either fly through everything like a maniac or fall flat on your face depending on lag...

Seeing as the questions have been answered I'll just add that personally I go with 6/6/6/4/4, because all 3 powers deserve to be maxed.

bab on PS, aab on NB, aba on BF, passive 4b, fitness 4a.

Slap on shotgun with omni blade, incendiary ammo and grenade capacity.

With the graal I take a power amp and shotgun rail amp - plays more like a crossbow+dagger thrower, less running around.

With the wraith I take adrenaline mod III and strength enhancer - very aggressive, very cqc and very fast.

I prefer 06666 or 46664. Spam biotic focus and run around blading the hell out of mobs as fast as possible, lean on Turian passives and weapons damage for bosses. Harrier, Talon, Hurricane all work really well on her. I prefer the Talon with Power Mod, Heavy Barrel, and AP Rounds.

I feel like she can take a ton of fire

How did you spec biotic focus?

If you take Biotic Shield she is really hard to kill

This is what I use

I run around blast groups with the blades and shoot stuff's head off with the wraith

Pretty much this, but I don't bother with the power mod.

I'm not sure about that. I'm pretty sure I see DOT from NB's on Geth. Not as much on armored/shielded units as Troopers, true, but still...

Personally, I focused my Cabal on biotic focus, NB's and health/melee...then NB and melee the hell out of everything. It works pretty well unless I do something stupid and teleport into a mob.

Tbh, double dashing through enemies in cqc and detonating all types of explosions is a lot of fun - and makes you valuable to any team, tech or biotic!

Love doing it with praetorians as they're just about to melee you - takes them a moment to figure out where you went. :D

Ah! Your Original Post has mysteriously restored the white background from the site!  :o

I use my Cabal as a melee character. I shouldn't, but I do it, anyway.  :P

Yes it does.

On topic, melee Cabal specced out of PS ftw.

Now if only I could carry both Geth Scanner and Grenade Capacity on her...

Very potent when hosting.  Very buggy with lag.  Probably the most buggy kit with lag.

Her melee can lock target through walls.  Equip the geth scanner and be amazed.

There is a glitch when using the geth scanner and biotic focus.  You will enemies at any distance.  I forget if it's map dependent.  Definitely works on the hazard maps.

I'm convinced that Biotic Focus's shield boost cancels your shield gate.  I've dropped instantly from full health to dead too many times.

The crusader / geth scanner loadout is OP as host.  On some maps you will never take damage while popping all the heads through walls.  You will also learn to be disgusted by the enemy AI implementation.

In my experience, a melee character should always take BF6a despite the extra melee boost you get from 6b.

Had that happen once. May have had something to do with me changing gear after a host migration in the lobby.

It's the Javelin that the BF glitches with. IIRC if you can pierce it you can see it when BF is active so stacking piercing mods and ammo helps improve the glitch I believe. Hilarious on Glacier to run a sniper rifle match with her with that trick. You position four players at different points and do not really move that much but just snipe everything over and over through the walls with the Javelin. If you have four good snipers the enemy will never force you off your spot. You can do the same with GI's for more easy mode as well.

I think another poster on here had a video on Ghost that kind of showed the glitch in practice if anyone could link it as I do not have access to youtube at work.

IDK. Spam BF often, use PB to CC and diminish the small arms fire coming your way. You could also throw on a venom to further CC and make PBs even better.

The blades' DoT affects synthetics as well.

She is somewhat difficult to master. I enjoy melee builds on her but when you got lag it's not so much fun anymore. Alternatively I used her as weapons platform for the Crusader and she did well with that.

I wish she had TC with a final melee evo instead of her "charge". Would even trade the NBs for that. Or have her have evos to make the melee DoT more efficient.

I pretty much use her as a weapons platform. BF works well with weapons that fire for a long period of time, as it doesn't interrupt firing like a stimpack will. Partical rifle, lancer, typhoon, smgs with double ammo boost. I don't use poison strike, max everything else. BF 4a, 5a, 6a. Passives to weapon damage, max health on fitness.

Do you take the shield boost evo on BF?

I'm just new to her, but I think it's because she is forced into CQC so much. 'Course I haven't played the Drell much either. And I don't rock cyclonics much.

4/6/6/6/4 or 6/6/6/6/0. Power Amp. Poison Strike's damage evo is bugged; don't spec into it. I'm in love with the no-fitness build; it takes a bit to get use to but it's actually really fun. You could go for an alternative 4/6/6/4/6 build. NB are amazing tbh, so go for GC instead of GS; with a little bit of situational awareness, her dodge + PS will get of almost any situation.

60666 melee no blade build. Fun but yes lag hurts. Do not max travel range on ps even if you use it as only a teleport. If you are to close to the edge of the map the power will fail. Max weapons passives.

I believe Ziegrif made that video with the jav.

In my experience though, there is a similar glitch with the geth scanner and BF combination. I played a few matches last week on White/Hazard and Ghost/Hazard where it was pretty obvious. This was on PC.
