I like Gaspard.  He has levels and intelligence. When he doesn't kill the elf who owned the tavern outright because it was impractical I was surprised.  I do believe that he like Celene are in part doing what they believe is best for Orlais. I believe Celene is a bit more-not completely-alruistic in that regard, as I do feel Gaspard lusts for the throne more than Celene, but I don't doubt either of their dedication to their country. Just different ways of doing it.  Celene is Wynne or Justina, Gaspard is Lambert or Fiona or Adrian.

 

As a middle grounder my approach will be the same with the MvT and OCW and possible elvish issues, middle ground terms, no side is altogether right. 

Also, I still don't think we will have that large of an impact on any of these occurances, too busy slapping together a fore to deal with fade tears.

I disagree on the Inquisition. Are goals seems to be restore order a well as fixing the Fade crysis. I think well be relevant to the OCW.

My point on that is that the inquisition has been stated to come into being because the others who would deal with the tears can't.  If it was  a matter of us just getting those who could deal with the tears to deal with it, there would no longer be a need for the inquisition.

I don't think that we'll fix the other people's crysis necessarily to fai their help, but becuase of the goal of the Inquisition of resto ring order. And I think the Inquisition will have powers/methods do deal with the Fade tears that others won't have.

I agree, Gaspard seems to be a way better character.
My canon character will actually be dalish. His primary concern would be to fix the various crysis in southern Thedas right now, not creating new ones. Which is the reason why Gaspard's expansionistic goals will clash with him. Not to mention that he'd dislike Gaspard's view on Fereldans (or TME dalish clan's on humans, for the matter)

 

I'm planning a Dalish Inquisitor for my canon run as well, although I'm sure you're well aware of that from the elven threads. 

 

Building on the canon run with my Surana Warden who saved the Circle, elected Bhelen as King and spared the Anvil, saved Redcliffe and had Connor freed with aid from the Circle, managed to get the curse removed from the Dalish and the humans, and became the living Hero of Ferelden, then asked for the Circle to be given it's independence, while my apostate Champion saved Renvil Harrowmont from carta execution and protected the Circle.

 

I think the racial option to be Dalish will be a nice contrast to playing as a mage who grew up in Andrastian society. The cultural differences in perception and faith, the clans living on the fringes of society, the view on magic as a gift, the variants among the different clans and between the Dalish and their city counterparts - I think it holds a great deal of potential for some interesting storytelling. I also like the healing and possible zen aspect of Vir Atish'an; I think it would make for an interesting attribute to the main character.

Although I'm likely going to ally with Briala, first and foremost. I'm aiming to use the Inquisition to help improve the plight of the Elvhen, which contrasts with your directive in using it to mainly restore order.

Can I ask a question that's kinda off topic?  How do you guys have spoilers for Masked Empire?  I thought that isn't out till next month or did I miss the boat?

Some were able to get previews for a few chapters on Amazon, and some saw more then the publishers wanted given no one can see previews now

You may be right, I just don't see how with continuity of storylines and such we can be allowed to affect things to that degree with these issues.  An example, my play through and Kings or even Lobs might be able to work out, but I don't see say Z and Xils being in any way shape or form compatible to future games.

Yup.

 

I'd love for the Inquisition to be able to fight the Mage Templar war to its bitter inevitable conclusion, but that won't be.

 

We might be able to put a Monarch on the Throne in Orlais but i'd be surprised with even that, After all lending support isn't the same as guaranteeing success.

I'm still not sure if we'll get a choice to side with Briala, though it seems possible from what you said. But we don't know how the OCW plot will be handled in relation to the Dalish.
My support will based on how the various factions act int be game. While it's only a clan, I didn't like their stance. I'll wait and see how the dalish are handled in they game.
My Dalish PC, howewer, will have the main goal of solving the Fade tears and the variosi crysis in southern Thedas

You know, I don't disagree with you.

 

The near conclusion doesn't paint Gaspard as a villain, since he keeps Michel's secret, and respects how true he is to the chevalier code. I liked that he wasn't a black hat villain, despite how the earlier Tegan scene came across. That said, I think Celene and Gaspard are willing to do underhanded things for the Game, so I don't think either one of them has clean hands in this political squabble over the throne.

 

I think I'll help out the elves first and foremost, since Briala appears to be a very good option in helping emancipate the elves from their plight.

He uses a spell to locate the empresses champion who is missing, than uses a freeze spell to freeze some soldiers, than a fire spell to topple crates on top of them shattering them, than uses some spell off screen to reduce a massive warehouse to nothing but ash.  Oh and he also shrinks and grows his staff.

You mean me with 'Kings', right?
I agree that there are issues with the outcomes of the crysis, expecially for the MvT war.
For the OCW, it'd depend on the choice given. I doubt we'll be able to destroy Orlais or the dalish, but choices in supporting them and give different outcomes might be possible. We'll see. I'm sure the OCW will end in DAI though (not sure on the MvT war).
