I've talked about this a little in previous threas but when i first saw this piece and thought about it, i was convinced it may have been accurate but the more i've looked at it, the more problems i see in the diversity of the group. Too many to believe that bioware is going this route

 

The ratio here for genders is 6 males:3 females, in the previous games it was 5:4 (maybe a DLC character will be added?). The other issue is the amount of humans in this hypothetical party, 5 humans, 2 elves, 1 dwarf, 1 qunari. Thats such wasted potential, too much wasted potential for me to think bioware would take this route with the return of playable races. And just to end it off on my own input on the situation, we are about to see qunari females for the first time outside of the comic and fan art, whats the argument against making one a companion?! Who would not love that opportunity

I think that some of them are just non-companions that have an important role in the story. I'm not entirely sure Dramatic Hands Mustache Guy is a companion, same with who I assume is Cullen. It's just too many humans, too many dudes.

I'd like a female qunari for a companion, but it may be too late to hope for one.

But I'm most interested in the elven rogue, the Sera? Yes. I wonder what she's like. Really hope she's not a comedian like most rogues are. The only thing for certain is that this is likely going to have even more diversity than DA II or DA O, so many different backgrounds and radically different personalities...it will be...The Cult of Personality!

DA:O and DA2 were both very human heavy, which makes sense, aren't they the most prolific species in Thedas?

Of the Bioware games I've played humans are generally the central characters and there's always more human party members than there are of the other races so it wouldn't be terribly shocking if that was the balance. But who knows?

Some of them may not even be companions now, and other companions we might get we might not even suspect to be one right now.

My guess is that Cullen, Scribe Girl and Scepter guy aren't companions.

 

But we will see.

Exactly.  In fact, if you look at the other pieces from this artist, s/he doesn't include all of the companions from the other games.  I wouldn't take this as anything more than a fan speculation.

I think we can safely say she is since we've seen gameplay footage of her in the Inquisitor's party (along with Bearded Grey Warden).  Unless she's just a temporary companion, she's in.

I'm pretty sure that this is her.  I'm not sure if this is the best image, but I don't really feel like doing an exhaustive search right now.  It's from the same alpha footage that the Grey Warden is in.  I think she's actually in the same picture as the Grey Warden too, but she's green tinged for some reason.
