Despite what some claim on here there are lots and lots of players out there, it's just that a lot of people end up getting stuck on friends island where they only mainly play with each other, occasionally letting in a random to play with.

 

I sort of ran into a semi-random match when someone I knew invited some friends of his which I didn't know. They stated that they never ran into anyone in the top 100 of the leaderboards (except for me of course). Which made me wonder if the top 100 only ever hang around with each other, which is kind of true if you look at whose in the AHF chatroom.

 

I do pug quite a bit and I'm always bumping into different players I don't remember seeing before.

 

So, do I have a valid theory? Are you stuck on friends island?

I PUG more than I play with friends.

I mostly pug. Play with friends if I get an invite which often goes unnoticed by me - sorry for that people.

Do a little bit of both, since I can't play with all my friends due to getting stuck on "Joining" a lot, even after I opened my ports and everything...

I live on an island. It is a really big island called the U.S.A that is connected to South America and Canada that make the island even larger.

I use to brave the wilds of Pugs quite frequently but it's not very fun for me after thousands of games. There are two common scenarios when I pug, the team sucks and I'm better off soloing which generally I don't care or mind or I wouldn't pug in the first place OR someone is decent in lobby but gets butthurt when you kill everything moving. Rarely do you pug into boogieman, DanDCD, etc, etc that just murder everything. 

 

Now days I'd rather play with friends for the most part or play other games.

I would probably PUG more often, but whenever I hop on, there's usually always friends on so I'm sucked into a lobby fairly quickly. Or, at worst, there'll be one friend on and the two of us will open the lobby to two PUGs, so that's like half a PUG, right?

 

I would actually like to PUG more, though. I just feel sorta bad about blowing off friend invites.

I tend to play more with friends because I can trust them to pick up my sorry ass when I get too big for my boots and play silly buggers with [insert random enemy that takes me down].

 

And it kinda gets lonely when you are the only person giggling like an idiot on the mic 

 

Having said that, when you do bump into someone you've not played with before and the team clicks and you have fun, that's kinda awesome too.

I do admit I like the pug lottery - never know when you might find some amazing or interesting players.

Thanks for the replies so far. I think it's kind of ironic that everyone complains about PUG games and yet without them people wouldn't be playing this game as much and not met as many friends as they did. That next PUG player could be your next BFF.
