I'd like to have the Chaos Revenge sword ( giant purple sword) and overture: the Silver/gold gun blade with script wrote on its side.

Dunno what a decent price would be, so willing to pay 50 dollars towards their creation?

Ideally they should be capable of being dropped into the override folder and working in nwn

Will pay extra 25 dollars if Gagnrad can be done too as a dual/double blade.

Further 25 if I can have double deity too!

Do you have a proper animation that would make this weapon better in-game? Currently, the default animation for two bladed swords is same or similar to staves, meaning it is a thrusting movement. Thrusting either of these items at an enemy might look really strange.

Otherwise, these would look really awesome in game!

Not entirely sure what animation would suit them. Perhaps that of the scythe that is in NWN already?

Means that one end of the weapon will go to waste.

btw- just because I'm putting a cash reward on this, doesn't mean i wana have sole ownership of it,

In fact, I think if anyone else thinks these would be great additions to nwn, we could crowd fund it.

Im willing to put a few $$ towards it, anyone else who thinks its worthy, put a few more, and then we could entice someone to make them.

The dual blades - animations aside, would probably be the easier of the  4 to make.

Polygon count considered, Chaos Revenge and Overture would be 'polygon hungry'

They would need to be done with intelligent use of transparent textures, to simulate gaps in the blade etc

But what am I saying.. I'm not a cc maker - so I will leave it to the experts.

I just really want to get these weapons in my PW - If that means paying, I will do so.

im just going to throw it out there. usualy offering money often sounds like a shady deal, but that is just how id take it. im sure you have the money, but everytime someone offers a cash reward it never ends well.

I often see these posts get put down the drain as quickly as they get posted. The custom Content Community is one made of free modding. Making something for cash sounds like a desperate plea. Everyone here though is more than happy to help you get started on creating these weapons yourself.

I used to ask everyone about designing airships, and no one ever took notice so i ended up doing it myself. It didnt turn out great, but with the help i got i managed to make a pretty decent content i was proud of making and one i own. And i didnt even cost me a penny to make ^_^

I thought deals like these were against the EULA of NWN1?  Or maybe that's only for work done in the toolset, not custom content?

Anyway, I think that most people in this community who would be able to do this and interested in doing it would do so for the fun, without any need of money.  Given that there's precious little monetary reward to be had from this hobby in general, it doesn't tend to cultivate people who are motivated by that.  I think that most of us like to be paid in compliments and also in the knowledge that people are enjoying using our work.   :)

Since the items you're looking for are already in *a* game, a conversion might be the way to do things - maybe not a straight conversion of the models (I don't know if the FF games have those kinds of modding tools?), but the texture should be grabbable, at the very least, assuming (and my assumption may be false) that the titles have been released for PC.  TexMod is pretty good for grabbing textures, though it can be a bit finicky.  Anyway, good luck!

Eula has no bearing: I'm paying/donating towards people's time required to the make the content.
Eula can't stop someone from giving a voluntary monetary rewards for someone's effort.
Hey if anyone wants to do the work for free... I'm game.
But I'd be willing to show gratitude in Cashy money if required.

The issue with payment is more likely to be that it violates the copyrights on the Final Fantasy franchise. I wouldn't be overly worried about 50$ though.

Baaleos, I think you aren't hearing that people are trying to help you. Forget about EULAs. Thats a side issue. The issue here is that offering money for custom content turns a hobby into a job.

In other words, money de-motivates people to help you because it cheapens what they are doing. I certainly wouldn't model anything for $50. You'd have to pay me a whole hell of a lot more than that for a one time gig that I do in my freetime. Furthermore I make things for people because it is both something that interests me and because it makes them happy. I do this for happiness and satisfaction. As soon as money is involved all that goes away and this just isn't fun anymore.

For some people - like me - this is close to the surface and I feel it the moment someone offers money for services in a hobby forum. For others, it is not as clear. However regardless of your cultural background or desperate need for cash - the results are the same in the long run: the joy in the thing bleeds out while the money flows in to replace it.

If you don't like the notion of a payment but are willing to do the modeling as part of your hobby, you could always ask that the reward be given to your favorite charity, or to support a web site that enables the hobby. Just a thought... :)

I'm open to whichever helps get the content made.
Will donate to people, persons, organisations, charities or even burn the money...
But I'm not sure how 'not' rewarding someone is going to motivate someone more than rewarding them.
Especially in a game as old as NWN.

I'm not a 3d modeller, and texturing is even more alien to me...
If someone's willing to even make an attempt at the request here in, even out of curiosity or challenge, I'd appreciate the attempt.
It was said in the previous forum topic that some of these weapons look complex and difficult to do with polygon limits etc- so why not make it a challenge: let's find some ingenious and outside the box way of doing it, using creative transparency and textures and whatnot?

I'm playing around with poly count in GMAX trying to get these to look right, without texture yet. I was looking up more pics of various FF items, and I am wondering if Gagnrad is supposed to come apart into two weapons? If so, you might want to have the one-handed variety also created so you can dual weild it. Does double-diety also come apart?

So, to make these work in game (on a PC), I believe each weapon just takes an entry in one of the multi-part weapon slots. How I do mine is create specific appearance weapons for each weapon part and use the weapon part iteration as an appearance category instead of a weapon part. If you don't do that in your PW, I would simply suggest having this made as a non-part weapon and still use just one weapon part iteration as your entire weapon. I think CEP had done that with a staff or two, years ago, if you wanna see what I mean.

I could certainly take a few minutes here and there to make my version of these things come to life, but don't you dare pay me to do it. I would suggest you NOT use the FF texture for your game, for a few reasons. I think we all know the first, but the second is that you probably can't get a good Hi-Res image which you can properly wrap to a poly model, and not look gimpy. So if I do these, expect to NOT have a FF quality texture applied to them. It is hart to make any portion of a low poly model in NWN look like it has the face of a living thing, but you might come close with double-diety.

So here is what I am gonna do, I already have double-deity going well, and am working on Gagnrad. Chaos Revenge is a definite no go, unless you want a really dumb looking, badly shadowed, something-weapon for NWN.

The gunblade is not too difficult, but I see screenshots from the game have weilders using it as a projectile weapon, meaning you might want it created as both a crossbow, and as a light blade. I see it weilded both one handed and two handed, so maybe you want it created as any of these three combinations. Just so you know, as a crossbow, it is probably going to look oddly handled by PC's. But it's worth a try.

Going back to the lab.

Also, is it possible you could do some digging and find a face-on shot of the hand-guard portion of the gun blade? I'm thinking your best bet for symbol-look-alike on that one is to actually use a transparent texture. I can't get a good reading off the side view, but it appears like it is very similar to the print on the shield you showed here (6 pictures down on the page):

http://social.biowar...15611416-1.html

Also, lets talk scale. The Gagnrad item seems to be about 6 and a half feet long in either direction. If you have that scale in game, it is going to be dumber than dumb, clipping through everything. You may wish to start emitting blood spurts to random nearby creatures just for proximity damage. In addition, you should start creating soil furrow graphics because when your character is still, that thing is going to protrude about 1 1/2 feet into the ground. I can only suggest it be scaled down to at least near the size of any double weapon in vanilla NWN. Any issue with that?

Very astute:

The original incarnation of Gagnrad did indeed start as a dual length double blade, but also breaks apart to be wielded in both hands.
Double Deity also started as individual blades and then gets merged together to form a scythe. In gameplay outside of battle however it is shown to fold up on itself, to look like a sickle or large kama.
As for the gun blade, I'd like it to be a sword primarily. Tbh - it was never effective as a gun.

Size of a normal weapon in nwn is kinda what I'm hoping for: with enough likeness that it resembles the blade in FF.
The first 3 minutes of this video does some close ups of the gun blade

I'm in a hotel using their wifi at the moment , unsure if the video does hi-res or not.

Btw @ MerricksDad:
I totally appreciate you even looking into this, and if you don't want paid that's ok, but if you would rather some sort of monetary donation to a community resource or charity to show my appreciation, I'd be willing.

Thanks again.

Sounds good, maybe we can forward any donation to the future care and keeping of the vault content. I know Rolo has that paid up for at least a year or two, but a buffer never hurts.

So I think I just finished, the Gagnrad. Poly count is not too bad. Right now it is overlain with the texture from FF screenshot, but definitely needs a tune up, if for no other reason than to make the material look more like those in NWN, light and glossiness wise. I'm going to go see what TAD used for his textures when he made those weapon upgrades. Maybe that can shed some proper light (and glossiness) on the subject.

Be back later. Picking up my boy from the bus.

You sir...

are an artist.

Its a beautiful weapon, and it translates to your 3d model very very well.

Excellent work with those textures.

This is very exciting.

Its probably just another model for you, but I adore these weapons and love the idea of porting them to NWN.

Trying to remember how to make it show up in the inventory :) Editing baseitems.2da...check. Creating item icons...check. Here we go...

Album: http://imgur.com/a/UcrpN

Edit:

Ok, so I put the shininess on this item at 192/256. That isn't very shiny, but it certainly catches a glint of light. At 128/256, the thing was just solid mercury, soo goofy.

I can't see any shadow artifacts, so that is good. It plays good in combat, but the character holds it strangely. It might be reasonable to increase the length of that inner handle. Right now, he holds it close to the odd handle thingy, but slightly too high on the blade. Same in combat used two handed. If the handle was lengthened in the middle, he would hold it correctly, and it shouldn't add too much difference to the weapon. I could also increase the item scale and see what that does. It's already slightly larger than a double axe.

Hey Mav,
I was able to get the 'soul reaver' from legacy of kain into my mod by just dropping the model and texture files into override.
Didn't need any 2da changes, just needed to name the file appropriately so it's parts show up in toolset.
Can you confirm if the same will be possible?
I'm trying to make my PW hak free, so I distribute a lot of my content in the form of optional override content.
