In the extended content we got slide shows for the ME2 squad mates future lives but everyone else like Garrus, Liara, Joker, Tali and so on weren't really explained. The last we see of any of them on a complete play through is at the memorial wall right before the Normandy flies off an unknown planet. It's also said/implied that Shepard's ways live on through them if I remember correctly.

Just want to hear what everyone thinks each of them do after and if they even keep in touch or not.

I assume Tali goes back to her home planet and helps build. Liara probably writes a book on everything Shepard did and Protheans if Javik doesn't kill himself.. that's all I got

Well Liara is an easy one:

tumblr_m67wp5mhIO1qcm77e.jpg

  1. Garrus goes back to palaven and though his reconstruction efforts moves closer to becoming Primark.
  2. Tali goes back to Rannoch and dies of an airborne virus at the ripe old age of 85. Primark Garrus is at her graveside.
  3. Joker commits suicide in despair at losing the sexbot.
  4. Wrex is assassinated in one of the numerous Krogan clan wars as the Krogan tear themselves apart again, before Grunt reunites them.
  5. Gabby and Donnelly live happlly ever after serving together in the Alliance.
  6. Vega finally comes out and ends his days with Cortez.
  7. Samantha shacks up with Aria and they rule Omega together from the couch.
  8. Allers is run over by Khalisah in what is supected as a deliberate hit and run.
  9. Bailey is finally convicted for corruption and ends his days as a broken alcoholic in Purgatory.
  10. After the war Jack has a nervous breakdown and ends up slitting her throat with a knife authorised by a careless SPECTRE.
  11. Miranda and her sister fall out and never speak to each other again; Miranda goes on to have a brilliant career as a diplomat for Humanity. Oriana rejects her genetic brilliance and becomes a stay at home parent (although she secretly takes part in online puzzle games where she goes by the name of The Big O, failing to see the innuendo).
  12. Dr Chakwas spends her life working at a free Hospital looking after Orphans where she secretly inplants them with experimental technology at the request of the Alliance.

Entirely depends on the players choices, who they romanced and how they treated them.

Sorry Uber, but Liara is forever alone in my playthrough. She will die an old Asari spinster :P

Turns out Liara is pregnant and in non destroy ending uses her Shadow Broker resources and Cerberus left over information to recreate a physical form of Shepard that will grow old with her and raise their child.

Apparently they are so stupid as to hold a memorial ceremony when they are completely out of contact and have no clue whether Shep survived or died. Hence one has to conclude they all suffered concussion during the crash so I wouldn't trust them to take off again safely.

I have my own canon for the squadmates and characters. Starting with the ME1 squadmates:

Kaidan: Killed on Virmire. Alternately, falls in love with Dr. Michel. Voluntarily resigns his position as Spectre, feeling that being one would end up having to be too much of a burden on his conscious, the calls from many questioning his capability as a Spectre, and aware of the impossible standard put ahead of him by Shepard.

Ashley: Top of page 44. Otherwise, died on Virmire arming the bomb, due to inexperience in combat. Shepard and crew returned to the bombsite, armed it themselves, and left. Ashley's body was vaporized in the ensuing explosion.

Garrus: Killed while reconning in London by a Reaper destroyer demolishing his Observation Post (Elizabeth Tower).

Wrex: Goes on back to Tuchanka to rebuild the Krogan. Works hard with Eve not to let Shepard down (and thus bring about the complete extermination of the Krogan by doing so). When Shepard tells him of his predicament, Wrex seems to become more taciturn, acknowledging that Shepard has 'spiritually' betrayed him, even if his actions worked to preserve the Krogan. He doesn't grow to hate him, but he doesn't hold the same warmth for him knowing Shepard's true feelings on him and the Krogan.

Tali: Killed by Reaper forces while repairing a critical power generator in London. Brutally ripped apart by Banshees.

Liara: Still holding a candle for Shepard, but acknowledging that Shepard will never reciprocate or acknowledge her interest. Cedes her organization to his growing group and leaves to return to her solitary existence before Commander Shepard.

Miranda: Goes on with Shepard to reform a Cerberus facsimile organization that is a shadow organization that has a monopoly of industries studying and using Reaper tech to advance the galaxy, with humanity at the forefront. Said organization also uses scientific, research, military, political, economic, and clandestine operations, and includes the assimilated remains of Liara's Shadow Broker organization, as well as using many of Cerberus more infamous methods, just quietly. Shepard's survival is a secret for the majority of the galaxy, and the organization essentially is the puppet master behind the alliance. The executive head of the organization, and Shepard's romantic partner and mother to their identical twin daughters (although one has blonde hair, and the other has her mother's raven hair). Her public face is that of the woman who rebuilt Earth. This is the long-term for them. Despite the organizations methods, their motivations are to create a better galaxy for the survivors than the previous galactic government, with humanity at the leading edge.

Jacob: Goes on to work with his wife, Dr. Cole to contract with Shepard and Miranda's organization.

Mordin: Killed on Tuchanka curing the genophage, silently grateful that Shepard had enough faith not to shoot him and allowed him to cure the genophage.

Grunt: Goes back to Tuchanka and causes mayhem everywhere.

Jack: Killed with her students when a Reaper destroyer vaporized her entire section in London, after successfully protecting an Artillery Battery with their biotic barriers.

Thane: Died on the Citadel from complications of Kepral's Syndrome, exacerbated by a stab wound by Kai Leng.

Samara: Returned to her solitary existence as a Justicar, though with a level of peace that she had not known in centuries due to Shepard's help with her daughters.

Legion: Erased from consciousness via Geth program overload from network dissemination of its upgrade to the rest of the Consensus on Rannoch.

Zaeed: Retired to Earth with a large compensation and still accepted the odd-contract from Shepard's organization every so often to alleviate boredom.

Kasumi: Never entirely got over Keiji, but resolved to move on with her life and continued using her kleptomaniac ways in benefit to Shepard's organization, and against it - more than once, materials and resources would be purchased from her that matched descriptions of lost or missing items that had disappeared from the organizations inventory.

Morinth: Killed in her apartment on Omega by her mother after unsuccessfully trying to manipulate Shepard (who very easily withstood her manipulation).

James: Continued to serve in the alliance and entered the N7 Program. Still maintained contact with his mentor, Shepard, who made sure that he was in the right positions at the right time whenever he needed him. Eventually fell in love with and married Dr. Ann Bryson.

EDI: Destroyed when her program was overloaded by the Crucible's energy wave, along with most of the Reapers and Geth.

Javik: Missing, and presumed dead. Last seen on Earth, holding a position from encroaching Reaper forces. A sudden dust storm had shrouded him, and a very large explosion detonated in the vicinity of his last known position within an hour of his last sighting. No trace of him or what caused the explosion was ever found.

Joker: Grew depressed over the loss of EDI, even though Commander Shepard had persuaded him not to get romantically involved with her. Still stayed on as the Normandy's pilot after its acquisition from the alliance into Shepard's organization and continued to fly it as Shepard's personal helmsman. Eventually got over his rift with Shepard caused by an emotional breakdown between the two during the Reaper war. Fell in love with and married Kelly Chambers, proudly, if defacing, announcing that his wife once slept with Commander Shepard.

Kelly Chambers: During the events of the clone crisis, was abducted and held hostage by the clone of Commander Shepard's forces. After being released, eventually fell in love with Joker and helped him overcome the loss of his friend EDI. Constantly embarrassed by Joker's public announcements of pride at the fact that Shepard shared an evening with her in his quarters once. Eventually began working for Shepard's organization as an administrative assistant.

Dr. Chloe Michel: Post-war, returned to work as a doctor operating in a clinic, eventually forsaking it to work in Shepard's organization, working in its medical division. If Kaidan survived Virmire, she goes on to be his surrogate therapist, and eventually falls in love with him.

Dr. Chakwas: Killed with millions of others either during the Reaper Seizure of the Citadel or during its demolition upon the Crucible's activation, but not before successfully synthesizing of several new chemicals that went towards building the Crucible.

Traynor: Returned to work with the alliance. Shepard kept tabs on her career, but felt she was not psychologically suited to working within his organization. Never informed of Shepard's survival and assumed his death.

Cortez: Despite being aided by Commander Shepard in overcoming the loss of his husband, Cortez was killed when his shuttle was crippled shortly after dropping off Shepard in London. (I have his death being unavoidable. He overcomes his husband, but said 'good feelings' don't protect him from bullets like they do in the game).

Oriana Lawson: Despite never clearly understanding her sister or her occupation, Oriana still thus has a bit of a sisterly resemblance to Miranda in terms of personality. Though much less cold and severe, Oriana is still nonetheless a somewhat prickly person, going on to become a respected scholar and civil engineer. Miranda keeps her out of the business, wanting to keep her innocent of the group and free of the complications of such a life. On the side, Oriana also works as a model.

If I played FemShep, I'd romance him. Otherwise, I stick with Kaidan. The game really needed a male LI for Femshep that was basically like Han Solo.

Sort of like Atton Rand, though with more roguish charm rather than cynical guile.

yeah i could go with Vega as LI for Femshep. Although also for Manshep instead of the slightly creepy Cortez version.

In my own headcanon:

Fanatics, both religious and otherwise, protest the rebuilding of the Crucible and the relays, feeling that it's better to leave them in ruins or destroy them completely. Many feel that they could potentially usher in a second wave of reapers (or worse) that could be waiting out in dark space. Ultimately, these cries are ignored. The Council tries to reestablish itself, but for now, they are not nearly as influential as they once were, as much of the galactic community remains in shambles.

The relay in the Pranas system is the first to be rebuilt, as the salarians took the smallest toll on its infrastructure and manufacturing base. The relays in the Sol and Trebia systems are rebuilt soon after. Despite some effort on the part of the salarians to hinder efforts, the relay in the Aralakh system is also rebuilt, as Wrex's controversial treaty with the rachni bears some ironic fruit. A memorial is erected for Mordin Solus at what used to be the shroud facility. The plaque reads "In memory of Mordin Solus, the salarian doctor that helped Kalros defeat the reapers and cure the genophage".

Wrex still contends with some zealous adherents among the other clans, and finds himself struggling with the rising population of the krogan. With Grunt being groomed as his replacement for clan leader, he hopes that Urdnot will still have enough power to keep everyone in line as tuchanka's population continues to explode for at least a few hundred years, but he's not terribly optimistic. His petition for colonization is met with a lot of opposition, as the crippled relay network makes finding suitable locations more difficult. Laws regarding population control are proposed, and are greeted with violent opposition. He fears a civil war may be imminent, but with Urdnot's influence as widespread as it is and clan leaders being shut down before they can cause anything major, opposition is kept in check for the time being. The batarians are just as vocal in their petition for colonization, despite being much smaller in number. Khar'shan is cut off indefinitely, and the batarians fear they may become the new nomads of the galaxy.

Joker uses his newly found fame to his advantage and gets himself a real girlfriend. He remains as the pilot of the SR2. He laments over the loss of EDI on occasion, and is not overly fond of the VI that replaces the ship's computer system. Joker protests Traynor's choice in vocal pattern for the VI personality, but begrudgingly accepts it.

Traynor leaves the Normandy to help with improving QEC communications with systems that are still cut off from much of the galaxy, and to help relay information on the construction process of the mass relays.

Javik helps Liara write that book, then soon moves to the Citadel and gets a job with C-Sec, but is soon approached for a supporting role in Blasto* 9: The Reaping. (*the real Blasto died during the reaper attack on the Citadel. An understudy takes his place and no one can tell the difference, except for Javik, who finds this new Blasto much more agreeable.)

With most of the operatives dead, and the information network largely collapsed, Liara abandons the now defunct Shadow Broker role, using Glyph instead to aid in her studies. Feron stays in touch, and attempts to track down any surviving agents. He may become the new Shadow Broker, once a suitable base of operations is established. With the relay in the Parnitha system nearing completion (overseen by Matriarch Aethyta), she remains in the Sol system to study the remnants of data on the prothean beacon in the newly rebuilt Martian archives, but occasionally returns to the Normandy to be with Shepard.

Jacob oversees the relay activation with Dr. Cole and the rest of their team.

Miranda is approached by the Alliance to become an operative, but turns it down, and instead chooses to operate as an independent contractor. She disappears soon after, but still keeps in touch from time to time with Shepard.

Jack remains with the Ascension Project to train new students for a time, but soon leaves as the degenerative state of her nervous system takes its toll.

Dr. Chakwas remains on the Normandy, preferring to stay with the familiarity of its med bay, and to assist Joker.

Engineer Adams remains as the Normandy's engineer, and soon proposes to Chakwas, who turns him down, but pursues a more casual relationship with him.

Vega remains an N7, but with much of the Alliance's time being consumed with escorting refugees and transporting personnel to fabrication centers, he takes leave on earth to find his uncle among those displaced from the major cities on the eastern seaboard. He never does. He stays in touch with Cortez and Shepard.

Cortez moves on to serve as crew chief aboard a carrier under Hackett's command.

Kaidan went on to serve at the fringes of the Sol system, his Spectre status under question by the new council because of the circumstances in which it was received. The Alliance may be responding to anonymous (presumably batarian) threats against the Sol relay. With Balak killed during the battle for earth, it's assumed that this is a fringe element not in league with their leadership, as the hegemony is now completely eradicated.

Tali remains as the Normandy's engineer for a time, keeping updated with the remnants of the civilian fleet still out in the Far Rim via QEC to receive progress updates on their relay. With secondary relays connecting much of the rest of the Milky Way to the Perseus Veil still in need of repair, she fears she may never see Rannoch again. She eventually returns to the flotilla, but only temporarily.

Garrus returns to Palaven to help oversee reconstruction. Tali soon joins him.

Kenneth and Gabby Donnelly remain aboard the Normandy. Gabby objects to Kenneth's possession of the Eva Core body EDI controlled. Joker remains unaware.

Zaeed remains on earth, enjoying his retirement as well as a rather hefty sum, the one promise of TIM's that Shepard intended to keep.

Kasumi fell off the radar for a time, but on occasion, Shepard does receive interesting weapon schematics as well as prototypes from the salarian STG from anonymous well-wisher, noted "Enjoy the goodies, Shep". Shepard sends the best of the lot to Garrus.

Samara remains a justicar, and returns to Thessia after the completion of their relay. After Shepard's help, she's no longer burdened as she once was, but never contacts any of the Normandy crew again.

Kelly Chambers remains on earth to aid refugees and moves on to work in a private practice.

Conrad Verner disappears into the fray for a while, but becomes an avid extranet blogger, and publishes his first [trashy] novel, accounting his adventures with Shepard, and how she held a tight ship.

Ashley continues her Spectre career.
James continues his N7 career.
Tali goes home.
Liara is the Shadow Broker (and doesn't see herself going into civilian life)
Javik experiences peace for the first time. Writes a book with Dr. T'Soni or kills himself.
Garrus retires and lives off the royalties from the vids.
EDI dies/lives happily ever after with Joker/fully understands organics.

No speculation or slides required. The characters and game directly imply it and say it throughout the course of the narrative.

And the game completely sucks in that regard. They don't get the fates they deserve, and the game generally fails to tell anything substantial beyond a slide.
