This is they way it ends for me, I was surprised that the game didn't have any typical end game sliders, but I acutally prefer it.

After the war Mordin, Shepard and Garrus retire to a resort planet where they live of the royalties from the vids, sign autographs and party all day, or run tests on seashells in Mordin's case. In his last years the guilt comes back to Mordin and he starts developing a cure for the genophage in secret once again. One morning the cleaning lady finds him dead at home, apparently from natural causes. No trace of his genophage work was ever found.

Shepard: soon after Mordin's death Shepard returns to Earth. There she opens her own engineering company, specialized in design of high grade omni tools and other tech devices of high quality for household use. While the firm gains a lot of prestige and becomes quite popular, Shepard never had a good business sense and ends up being absorbed by Elkoss Combine. At some point she marries a rich guy as well, who has nothing to do with the military.

Garrus: unlike Shepard, Garrus kept training every day. After Mordin's death he realizes that he misses the life of action. After a brief stint in the turian military he joins the Spectres, soon becoming the most prominent one. At some point however, since there is no Vakarian without Shepard, he gets critically wounded and is forced to retire. He ends up with a desk job in C-sec trying to eliminate regulations and reform the way it operates.

Tali: Tali was chosen as quarian ambassador on the citadel. However, some people never change, and it's not long before the quarians start experimenting with AI technology once again. After multiple sanctions and warnings she is cast out from the citadel. She joins then the newly reformed quarian military as an admiral.

Zaeed: dedicates the rest of his life to find Vido. It ends up costing him his life, not before he manges to put a bullet in his head.

Liara: too good willed to be a good shadow broker, she finds that an upstart salarian is gaining more prominence than her. Rather than fight him, she disappears and goes back to studying ancient cultures until she reaches matron stage. She mates with a hanar among others.

Grunt: as soon as it's discovered that Wreav was fooled, a rival clan kills him and clan Urdnot loses it's relevance. Clanless once again Grunt makes finding challenging fights his goal in life. Unable to find anything of interest he roams the galaxy and ends up going through an uncharted relay never to be seen again.

Traynor: after the war she tries to go back to civilian life. She is unable to adapt however and misses the excitement of her days in the Normandy. Starts using red sand to compensate. Ends up dying of an overdose in Omega.

Cortez: gets promoted after the war but he doesn't like being behind a desk. He becomes a flight instructor for the alliance.

Joker: keeps flying the Normandy and refuses to be transfered to another ship even when it starts being outdated. He tends to laugh about his days with EDI, but that's just on the surface.

James: he continues his relationship with Ash until he joins the N7 program. After that they grow distant. His N7 instructor doesn't like his attitude and makes it clear in every possible way. While James completes the N7 program he comes out of there as a totally different person.

Ash: she keeps working as a Spectre for some time until she is forced to go against the interests of the Alliance. Then she remembers that a Williams is 100% Alliance till the end. She resigns from her position as a spectre, marries a military man, has 5 kids and educates them in the Williams way.

Oriana: after Miranda's death she decides to become more politically involved. She ends up elected as human councilor.

The Illusive Man: Shepard never stopped feeling indebted to him for resurrecting her. Due to her good word and many lies in every vid and interview, the galaxy started seing him more like a victim of the reapers instead of a terrorist. 200 years later human text books show him as a philanthropist who was instrumental in the integration of humanity in the galactic community.

Something you said about giving your space bar a workout, IIRC. And it's after you finish all the stuff about Nyxeris.

It's actually a scene that's very easy to miss.  If you don't take the option when it first appears you end up locked out of it.
