Quick suggestion for the sake of us who change our minds often

It was kind of irritating having to spam escape through that intro again just because I decided on a female mage rather than a male rogue. Mass Effect 2 had a similar issue for me.
So...make it all on one screen as the first thing you get upon clicking 'new game.' Like Origins. Save undecided people like me time.
kthx

Oh my goodness, THIS! ^^ I can't like this topic enough times to show how much I agree with you. The intro was painfully awkward and was very punishing to people like you and me who take awhile to decide what we want to play. Seems like it should be so easy to avoid in the future, so I hope we never see it again.

Or at least have a skippable intro. I get it, you want people to see your hard work and not skip past, and I WANT to watch that intro, but I don't want to watch it 17 times in the span of 1 hour because I can't skip it. Also another mirror of transformation type thing would help a lot.

So have it like Origins where the race/gender/class selection was part of the main character creator?

Also what was up with showing the default Hawke as seen in the advertising material in the intro and then allowing you to customize their appearance? Showing the character before the character creator only works if the face is obscured by a helmet or something.

Oh yes, i didn't think i could hate Darkspawn more. I was wrong.

Agreed.
Saint's Row started doing it, too, and it's very frustrating. I much prefer to have the character creator up front, ahead of the introduction.

Please don't put the class/ gender selection and intro before the main character creator again, especially now that we have all these possible race/class/gender possibilities.

I like this as well, but I think it's too late for this suggestion. If it's in, it's in. If it's not, then we'll just have to push for this to be in the next game. The Character Creator they have is finally working on all races, genders, and classes. They're going to be putting together a demonstration of the CC, most likely in the format of a video.

Yeah I'd rather start out at the CC.

I dont understand why it matters which way round it is. Whenever you get to the character creation screen, just sit for a few mins and think or spend more time on that screen until you come to a definite decision.

I agree with this. As one who might spend a lot of time tweaking the character in the CC, it'd be nice to get that first and out of the way, so the rest of the game can play out smoothly without interruption. I really don't like how DA2's intro is handled because of this. I thought it was baffling that they'd even show the default Hawke at any point in the game, which totally undermines the point of the CC in the first place. That would be like Mass Effect's intro showing the default Shepards in a prologue before you get to create your own character.

I really hope it starts in the CC as well.

Or just include the mirror from DA2 so you can change in-game? I don't understand the problem?

Yeah that intro in DA2 was exciting in a way but... meh.
Dragon's Dogma did this as well, forcing you to play as the dude on the cover and not your own character as soon as the game starts.

True, but at least you only have to do that once. The New Game + lets you start from your created character, and skips the backstory introduction. And they did give players access to the character creator prior to the introductory chapter, even if it was in the form of a demo.

Bio - you'd better fix this quick, before the OP changes his mind about wanting it. ![]()

Anyway, I would prefer to at least be able to skip to the CC first, so hopefully they will have that option.

I believe they were trying to make the character creation aspect of the RPG less intimidating by placing it after the intro. Apparently many new comers to RPGs find the CC overwhelming, as I recall.

Wow, as someone who adores any kind of CC, I never even considered that it might overwhelm someone. Makes more sense now. /wafflewaffle

They need to make it into some kind of action game, where you can lasso noses and pick eye colors by wiggling the stick or doing combos. Maybe something with cooldowns. That's always the answer right?
