Back to the OP's question, those little guys look like the temperate continental cousins of the adorable fennec fox ![]()

As others said, looks to be a fennec fox. We also saw them in this footage. Which kind of fits with Orlais having sort of an African landscape. (Why do you think Orlesians have so many lion motifs?)
Because they're based on Western European nobility, who tended to have a bunch of lion motifs despite lions not being native to that area.

I don't know what this adorable fennec-like creatures are, but they shall be mine. All of them. My Inquisition will not allow them to be killed for whatever reason ... even if it's a quest ... well, unless they are scripted to attack on sight. But don't you dare doing that to me, BioWare, the dog mobs in DA2 have been more than enough! ![]()
