It never struck me as strange before this playthrough. What are your thoughts. I never visited his tent so this could be ackward.
Poor Alistair having to do the Dark Ritual with Morrigan!

He hates her, that makes it easier to bear if you are romantic with him (in my opinion). I only turned Morrigan's ritual down one time, and the ending freaked me out. So, I always talk him into it if I play a female warden. If I play a male warden, of course I just do it myself.

I feel considerably worse for Morrigan, that goofy oaf Alistair never had it so good...

I played a male Warden who was in love with Zevran, soooo he convinced his bestie Alistair to do it. He found it kind of funny, actually, that Alistair wouldn't want to sleep with a hot girl to save their lives. ![]()

Yeah, because it's inconceivable that engaging in an intimate physical act (with a person Alistair despises) is about more than whether she's "hot". :-/

It's genius. Next time I am in the mood to feel adventurous, I will tell my partner I am going to die in 10 years if she does not perform a dark ritual with me. Given she might think I am crazy at this point but it does not hurt to try.

I would bring my Warden over so you could fuss at him, but, he's not here, so... ![]()

Especially, if the novels are canon, doesn't that make Morrigan his half sister?
How could that be? I do not read the books.

FIRST DRAGON AGE BOOK SPOILERS!!!!!!!How could that be? I do not read the books.
When Marric and Loghain meet Flemmeth in the books she demands Marric sleep with her. Given timing, that should make Morrigan Alistair's slightly older half sister.

Morrigan may be his half sister if Marc had to sleep with Flemeth.

Huh, Morrigan's similarities to Morgan Le Fay just keep getting stronger and stronger...
I know David Gaider said he named the character Morrigan based on a friend, but the designers didn't seem to get the memo as they gave her the strong crow motif, on top of her having dark magic, gaining more power through some seduction (as Morrigan hopes to conceive a child with the soul of an Old God through the Dark Ritual), etc.

Isn't Morrigan found and raised by Flemeth? I thought I came across this in one of my games... maybe when asking questions when you first wake up after Flemeth saves you. For some reason, I am farily certain Morrigan is not actually Flemeth's by birth but rather raised by her and Morrigan says this or am I remembering this wrong or perhaps misunderstanding it. It was either a discussion in the camp or a discussion with her before going to Lothering. Maybe the camp - maybe around the conversation of her upbringing or something. I could swear she says something about that.

I don't recall that, but even if that were the impression Morrigan were under, that doesn't make it a fact.Isn't Morrigan found and raised by Flemeth?

Well, I would lke to think the writer did not just promote incest. If he did, that really is disturbing to say the least.

I'd hardly call the dark ritual a promotion of anything. It is rape. It is not portrayed in a positive light at any point. *shrugs*
Alistair agrees to do it. He can say no. He would prefer not to but given the situation, he agrees. It is hardly rape. It is choice. He doesn't have to agree to do it. You have to persuade him. It is a choice. Rape is something far, far different. I assure you of that. Using the word rape here is an insult to those who have actually been raped. She did not force him to do this in any shape form or way. Please learn what rape is before you throw that word around so ignorantly.

When the choice is "have sex or you or this other person dies" that is forced consent, which is rape. Thank you for jumping down my throat with your assumptions, though.Alistair agrees to do it.
