I'd rather him just not idealize the Wardens. That's all.

I also wish Loghain learned some lesson. Letting him live is the greater punishment. He gets to live out firsthand what being a Warden is, what kind of people he killed, and is forced to work with Orlais. Not to mention got his whole value system shamed by a nobody elf. Maybe...just maybe.. he'll be a better person because of it.

It's easy for me to do this though because I don't care about the Warden anymore. I don't see them having any worthwhile story any longer. Might as well go out with a bang.

Personally I don't believe punishing Loghain by letting him live will be a good thing because I don't believe that making him suffer for what he did does any good for anybody. I guess he might become bitter like Alistair become.

I always imagine that my PC and her LI will live happily ever after so I couldn't sacrifice myself or my LI in the end.

It does good for Loghain.

It's no different than me trying to get Zathrian or Branka to see what they did. It just takes longer for Loghain, unfortunately.

edit: You have to understand, this is just one playthrough.. and I felt like going the full on "Redeemer" route. Destroying delusions and old hatreds. When possible.

I can play vindicative or the Hollywood Hero who smashes any form of dissent and executes people quickly. But I didn't want to do that with this particular Warden.

Ok you were talking about one playthrough :) I thought you were talking in general like I was :D I was jus thinking that in general it would be better that you let Loghain to sacrifice himself because he wants to do that and that way he can redeem himself because in some point he must realize what he has done. That way you can live and build your life. I think I would have saved Loghain in a landsmeet more ofter and let him sacrifice himself if Alistair wouldn't have left if I had done that.

That's what I've done a few times. He does, in fact, learn (like Zathrian) already by the end of the Landsmeet really. Learns "something" at least. He's still defiant and unapologetic about selling elves.

But anyways, I also did it this way recently because I've thrown in the towel on DAO. I have no hope for the Warden being done justice. Best to give them a good death. Ymmv. I might be wrong, and feel totally stupid later. :D

Personally I like it that some characters don't listen to you and they continue to do stupid things. So you really can't influence them even if you try. I once played ME trilogy being friendly with everyone and in ME3 I started to feel a little bit unwell because I felt that I was too good friends with everyone. I don't know how to explain that any better. But anyway I'm planning to create characters that aren't just good but instead they have some flaws and with different flaws I can play the games in a way that the story is a little bit different every time. In DAO I have troubles creating a character who will kill all the dalish elves. I haven't been able to do that.
