Yes, after reading part of Mask of the Empire, I could really get into my kossith inquisitor, Iron Bull, Chevalier, and cassandra or cullen party.  That would be a nice successor to Fighter Warden, Sten,  Allistaire, and Shale. And an improvement upon Fighter Hawke, Sebastian, Fenris, and Aveline.

Everything I have read/heard about them has caused me to view the Chevaliers as a whole, despicable people.

For me, personally, I cannot see my Inquisitors getting along with one.

I'd love to have a member of the greatest knightly order in Thedas as a companion.

Best armed, Best Equipped and best trained.

Excellent addition to the Inquisition or the Party.

I can understand, given the visit to Denerim, but there's a really good guy in the novel who is a chevalier.

Yeah I wouldn't judge all Chevaliers by the ferelden portrayal of them. Sure some are Asshats, but same can be said for templars, mages, kossith, dalish, city elves, nobles, merchants, and even dwarves....especially dwarves.

If we get a Chevalier as a companion, I want to be able to murderknife them. I don't like Chevaliers.

Partially because the name sounds too much like Chevrolet.

The person telling us was an Orlesian woman who was nearly raped by one and had her brother killed by others in response to him stopping it. Yeah, the Chevaliers have a big hole to dig themselves out of before my opinion changes.

I'll probably agree when Masked Empire gets here on this particular man, but it's not just Ferelden portrayal that's swayed my opinion, it was reading about how "infamous" some members "brutality" is. I didn't like them in The Stolen Throne either.

We shall see :)

Hey! Some of my best friends are dwarves.  :D  I agree; there's good and bad in every group.

well stolen throne is still ferelden portrayal.  And yes I am sure many members are quite horrible.  But again, no worse than the dwarves of the diamond district, or the crime syndicate, or any other group.

You do realize there are probably just as many occasions of them saving those very common people from brigands and elves, and monsters and what have you? Its Orlais ._. Knightly service comes with perks, what can you do?

So, you are going to hate any group because of the abuses of some?  Sorry I tend to judge the individual not the fighting school he or she attended.

Well, Stolen Throne is actually the only Ferelden view on them that I've had.

Like Hana said, that woman was Orlesian and the rest is codex/wiki/lore

I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm just telling you my reasoning :)

Like I said, I'm sure he's a good guy but he won't change my views on them as whole. Just him.

I couldn't resist, too often the dwarves get a pass while we exacerbate the failing of everyone else.

Dang sodding short bodied fools, always getting in my way. :)

Expect them to act better than those brigands, just like I expect cops to act better than gangs.

Yeah, the Orlesian occupation was full of some truly horrendous acts committed, including when Loghain tells my Mabari Hound about what happened to his dog.

I don't hate them, but at the same time I definitely don't like them. So far they have proven themselves to be a despicable order, and it is on them to change my perception.

and his Mother.

That made his reaction to Cailan's proclamation about impending Orlesian troops entering Ferelden (which outnumbered the amount of troops he fought at the Battle of River Dane) all the more understandable.

That wasn't his point.  In Mask of the empire, one of the chevaliers actually remarks on some of his fellows take the chivalry aspects too far- no attack by surprise, no tricks in a fight, no unfair advantages etc.

Being a chevalier just means you are of noble birth and had someone pay the very high tuition to send you to what amounts to a very fancy knight school.  In which you learn some very good skills and become what are regarded as the best knights in Thedas.  Just because they can kill commoners with impunity doesn't make them all evil bastards.

<_< You don't want to delve too deeply into Medieval lore then...

Noble Privilege extended to a lot back then.
