The only thing I dislike about the gold mage armor is that the knee caps look just as weird as Sebastians belt buckle. I would prefer optional religious imagery on my armor (especially for mages...) But yeah, beyond that holy crap that is glorious.

I thought the same thing about the knee caps!  I guess at least you could grind her face into the ground every time you knelt if you felt so inclined

i think a poncho style outfit would be cool think (Man with no name), but that might be too western for Dragon Age tho it would go nice with dat hat.

The only robes I've ever really enjoyed were Orsino's and they were so delicious I had to have them for my Warden!  That said, based on what we've seen about DA:I so far, robes feel really out of place to me but I still hope they're an option for those who enjoy them <3

Spoiler

I hope this picture works because I think everyone needs their daily dose of scrump-diddily-umptious.

Fugitive's Mantle was the best outfit for mages besides armor of the champion...act 2 was pretty unbearable for me...fashion wise...

If I understand correctly armour won't be restricted by class only weapons.

Fugitive's Mantle was nice, 'cept for that shoulder piece, didn't like that on it.

I also read that armor wouldn't be restricted. But I still wonder if certain pieces will be obvious for classes, including what stats would be on them, or what stats are needed to wear them. Or if we'll be able to upgrade the stats as we wish to better suit our chosen class.

We can upgrade stats. We can keep item appearance and just increase/upgrade item stats.  So if I understand correctly we can make weapon who looks like our first weapon but are more powerful then super mega ultimate weapon. I use word weapon same applies to armour to.

I like the mix of robes with some light armour for mages, like the fugitive's mantle. I'm not against robes if they look as good as Orsinio's, but a lot of them have seemed kind of basic.

Well that's damned good, indeed! Remember finding all kinds of starter items that I thought looked better than the later things we could wear, or how I hate my warriors wearing big giant clunky all-engulfing metal, but had to put points in dexterity if I wanted them in so-called rogue armor. This'll be a nice bonus.

My impression from the Pax crafting and customization panel is that you can pretty much make custom armor for your character look however you want. So we should be able to craft armored robes or even heavy armor for our mages. We will even be able to change the stats, color and imagery for those that don't like the weird Andratse face on the knee caps.

Here's hoping that's what's going to happen

But looking at the concept art it looks like the whole 'it adapts to your style' thing applies to the Inquisitor too perhaps? All the pieces retain the Inquisitors chest piece symbol. Which is pretty cool, since it helps with believability (unlike the Warden who could approach people in their underwear and yell 'respect me' and people did).

I wouldn't mind having the armor that Flemeth had in DA2. Not sure what it would look like for a male.

....I'm picturing a big buff qunari in that low cut dress....

Yes. Yes please.

I admit I was worried that Bioware wouldn't be able to outdo the mage and warrior armor Champion sets. They were just awesome.

Seeing all the attire in that outfit display, however, removed any doubts I had.

Literally ALL the armor sets I've seen so far were gritty, practical, awesome, and downright ****** sexy.

Could use less belts, but I dig it.

Who is that sexy arcane warrior-type devil????

In any other game I despise playing as any mage/damaging caster type.  In Dragon Age, I have to force myself to play the other classes and always come running back to being a mage.  Mages in DA are simply divine  ^_^

DAO vanilla, on console, is most fun for me as a rogue. But in DA2, vanilla on console, mages are THE BOMB.

well they did say that you can customize your outfits so really anything you want for your mage is yours to make.
