Was I the only one who made a dark skinned Cousland? Or any other ethnic possibility that was clearly non-white especially when compared right next to the rest of the Couslands?

So what was your story behind it?

Did Bryce have a fling in Rivain (or etc.) and decided to take responsibility? Did they adopt the kid and then forget about it intentionally or accidently? Or did Bryce or Eleanor just have a Rivaini (or etc.) ancestor somewhere in their family tree and some kind of nearby magic incident caused it to come out in the character?

Or did your character lie out in the sun for too long and permanently darkened the skin?

Hm. My Cousland is their biological child. Not a "Nearby magic accident" but genetics is why she looks the way she does. I say it comes from Bryce's side. I edited him a tiny bit though, along with her brother. (they both have brown eyes now)

My dark skinned Cousland was the son of an affair Eleanor had while Bryce was away.  I still can't tell if Bryce is a forgiving man or an idiot.

It is not unheard of that a white couple can have a dark-skinned child with no other in their heritage. There was also the case of an African woman having a 'pink' baby (not albino, not from a white male, no white heritage). It is rare but happens in the real world.

My dark skinned Cousland was such a baby and looks quite out of place. Poor kid put up with a lot crap while growing (from other children and not so nice adults), but is known because of it, no one questions it. Not Duncan. Not Alistair. No one. Never heard the initial responses from mum and dad (if words were had?), just grew up in a loving family.
