Vampires in Dragon Age?

If vampires were introduced in Dragon Age, I think they'd be more akin to 30 Days of Night vamps. More bestial, less well-dressed bisexual.

Maker, no. No vampires, they belong to WoD.

Vampires? Hunger Abominations
Zombies? Possessed corpses
Werewolves? The Result of a possessed wolf
Pretty much everything, in one way or another, can be explained by demons.

It was Nef.
However Morinth wasn't a vampire. Morinth's powers were that of a succubus.
Morinth was a White Court vampire ![]()

If vampires ever do make their way into the lore I hope they are manifestation of some form of possession by hunger demon. And rather than the suave, charming, or seductive vampires of modern pop culture...I hope they are closer to the grotesque creatures of medieval legend. More Nosferatu than Dracula, basically.

Everything that's possibly supernatural is the result of abominations.

That's racist! ![]()

Well, only the original werewolf was a demon-possessed wolf. The majority of werevolves are still mortals.

If they did it like the vampires in Hellsing, I'd be very happy. ![]()
That said, I like how they have the as people possessed by Hunger demons.

Except none of those are abominations. They are possessed beings, but none of those possessed creatures had magic, short of the Arcane horrors. Abominations are only living mages that are possessed, which none of those are.

I just call everything that's possessed abominations.
Sylvans? Abominations.
Werewolves? Abominations.
Zombies? Abominations.
Revenants? Abominations.
Arcane Horrors? Abominations.
It's all the same pretty much.

Also when I think of Vampires, I think of that beautiful, beautiful man, Alexander Skarsgård -- and I don't think they could match up his portrayal.

If they do appear, I think they will probably be a form of Hunger Abomination. Maybe Desire?

If they absolutely must show up, hope they're not cheaply written off as an abomination. It's too easy, it's too simple, it is too boring. Give us something shiny and new. BUT NOT SPARKLY!!

We know that blood is used in various ways either by blood mages or by cults for powers, etc. A blood mage could technically be considered the closest thing to a vampire, since they can use other people's blood to heal themselves and others. Like others have said, with how vampires are portrayed now, I don't know if it really fits to have a traditional one in the DA universe.

Hopefully the Dragon Age vampires will be more like Nosferatu (real vampire), and not the Twilight types.

It would be really nice, especially if you could contract their disease and become one of them. It would have it's advantage like extra abilities and damage in combat, maybe it's own skill tree. But it would have it's disadvantages too, like certain characters won't give you certain options in dialogue because they don't like you being a vampire and so on and so forth.

I guess it'd be kind of cool but idk I don't think it'd fit in the DA universe.

If the elder scrolls games can do vampires I dont think bioware should be afraid to include vampires and of course I know they wouldnt make "twilight" vamps they would probably go more traditional and ferocious like 30 days of night and I for one would love to see the werewolf-vampire rivalry in the dragon age universe. Also dragon age has dragons, werewolves, zombies, elves, dwares, etc. so saying you dont want vampires in dragon age because theyre not original or they are overused is ridiculous because you would have to say the same thing about the other creatures I just mentioned.

I like Thedas' version of "vampires." A blood sucking desire/hunger demon is as far as I want vampires in Thedas. I have nothing against the mythos, but it would seem like yet another group to add to this bloody mix.
C'mon, there is already too many factions that will likely have huge impacts on the story:
- Humans
- Dwarves
- Mages
- Dalish Elves
- City Elves (see Orlais below)
- Templars
- The Chantry
- Demons
- Awakened Darkspawn
- Regular Darkspawn
- Magisters like Corypheus (you know he isn't the only one and no matter how you slice it, he got out)
- The Grey Wardens, with whatever they are planning
- The Qunari
- Tevinter, though they are fairly quiet at the moment.
- Orlais, between the elven revolt and the usual nonsense from The Game.
- Seekers
- Inquisition
- Red Templars
I'm sure I'm missing some, but why throw more traditional vampires into that mix? It sounds like fun, but I'd rather see more of the creatures that have been mentioned already.
Like...griffons? ![]()
