Problem is that unless a person is willingly possessed they become an abomination.

Vampires in Thedas?
I think it'd be...rubbish!

Another great way to introduce them would be possibly outside of thedas. The qunari came to thedas from another land hopefully in the future when we visit those lands we'll get to see vampires

The thing about vampires though is that there's been no evidence strong enough to justify their existence in DA. Vampires are usually undead beings that have either the intelligence of mortals or higher and feed on the blood of the living to survive. Given necromancy as we've seen on Thedas, even with blood magic acting as the amplifier, necromancy just ain't that powerful. Not to keep the undead beasties alive for so long.
And given the hints they've given about Qunari lands and their territory in general, at least from the games, vampires aren't likely. I would imagine the Qunari would off them if they were since magic would have brought them back and we've mostly all seen how the Qun deals with its mages. That said, it's Bioware's show. The way they did werewolves was pretty decent but also pretty quick (if you choose to cure them). I'll just keep my fingers crossed that the dead stay dead. Got dragons, don't need dracul.

There has already been mention of Vampires in the lore. It's a hunger demon that has possessed a living host.
"Next are the demons of hunger. In a living host they become cannibals and vampires, and within the dead they feed upon the living. Theirs are the powers of draining, both of life force and of mana."

Because they must vent their opposition at said topics immediately.

Maybe but I think a lot of people in this particular thread are thinking more Dracula than Demonic Possession.
Who doesn't like Vlad the Impaler?

It's not that there's no research. It's that it's a demon. Specifically, it's that if a hunger demon possessed a living person, they're an abomination. It's spirit possession. The person is not living on using the power like Wynne or Anders was. Their spirit is wholly consumed by the demon and the demon gets their body. At that point, they're not vampires, humans, qunari, etc. They are demon possessed mortals, abominations. Even Wynne and Anders were considered abominations. Even when possessing the dead body, it's the demon, not the mortal.
Vampires in themselves retain their consciousness from life. They aren't possessed. They are fully in themselves, in a cognitive mind, and eating people of their own choice.

Either way, you say 'vampire' and I guarantee you no one is going to think of "demonic possession", they're gonna think of Dracula or True Blood.
Therefore, to assume people just want to show their opposition or don't do any research is wrong, in this case.

I'm not saying that there's no way vampires can't exist. I'm not saying Bioware can't make them awesome in their introduction, if they so do it. But why would we need them?
If they created vampires in a similar way they did with werewolves (bind a powerful spirit to a wolf), what's to stop someone convincing the binder to undo the binding and freeing everyone of the curse? Or if they can't stop the infection? Even the werewolf infection couldn't be stopped. So one person bites two people, they bite four people each. Before long, we have a world of vampires.
Go the opposite way. If they did it that same way as they did with werewolves, why stop at vampires?

So you disagree with the fact I feel Bioware put a spin on Vampires by having them be demonic possessed people by a Hunger Demon?

So people don't care about the facts as much as they do their personal feelings. Got it, politics as usual.
I don't think werewolves should be in dragon ages, there's no evidence for them existing cause they're not just hairy barbarians who go crazy when the moons out. I don't think werewolves work that way, so I say they can't be in the game, without disappointing me, and by me, I mean everyone.
Don't correct me by pointing something out in game either. I say it's not werewolves because they don't match what I think werewolves are. And if it doesn't match my exact preconceived notion of werewolves it shouldn't exist in biowares story that they're telling.
In all seriousness though, I don't understand why bioware can't have an in universe version of vampires and has to make them traditional immortal humans if they want to have vampires in their games. If it's because of twilight, people should know just from reading the description and knowing about demons and such in dragon age that you don't need to worry about sparkling heresy's walking around in sunlight. Vampires don't need to mean western european based hollywood representations of them, they can have a little variation in order to work better in the universe they're being set in.
