Do you think horned Qunari characters will get different helmets?

Or will they just magically disappear under the helmets/hoods? If this is the case then I'll have to keep the hide helmet option on at all times.

Has this been addressed before?

I would imagine that horned Qunari would have a unique helmet model, even if it's just a helmet with an area removed for the horns to pass through. Sten didn't have horns because they were having issues with the horns/helmet situation. Making the Qunari playable leads me to believe that they have a solution in place. Horns are a major facet of the Qunari's physical appearance. I can't imagine they'd just remove them when a helmet is equipped. ;)

Not likely to go to the bother of new helmet models. Most likely auto hidden. Come on they are not that keen on doing extras lately. It would add little and take a lot of time effort for every helm.

Alternatively, this is also a possibility. ^

It'll probably hide them like how skyrim helmets do with argonian horns.

Companions have unique armor designs. You can change their armor within their specific design (so you can give Cassandra a dragonbone breastplate, but it will always have the seeker emblem on it) So, the Qunari companion may not even have a helmet. If he does, it'll definitely have holes for the horns or whatever.

As for other qunari in the world, It'll probably be a lot like DA2. Their helmets were designed around their horns.

This was brought up during the PAX panels a while back. It was the customization panel, I think. You can listen to it on nerd appropriate's website.

The designers described this as a fun and interesting challenge or something along those lines. This lead me to believe qunari will have helmets that fit around their horns.

And if I remember correctly, there has been a lot of talk regarding the excitement of being able to do these types of things with Frostbite.

I know it's a lazy solution, but I think they may just go the "holes" route.  Just have the horns protrude through any horns or helmets they may be wearing.

I think we're going to get a very small selection of unique Qunari helmets, definitely not as many as a dwarf, elf or human inquisitors. Otherwise they would have to make a unique model of every helmet available for the other hornless races and thats a f-ton of work.

If you look at the way the armor differs between races i think its pretty much implied that they will have their own helmets designed for their horns, It would be pointless to have horns just to have them disappear a majority of the game because you're in combat.

Most likely they will simply clip through helmets. Modifying them would require a lot of work. Then again, they are apparently dedicating resources to customizing items for specific companions, so it is not beyond the realm of possibility.

It remains to be seen whether the character creator will offer different types of horns, which would greatly increase the workload. The horns on the Qunari women seen in concept art already differ substantially from the men.

I am mostly imagining actual helmets, the domain of warriors. What of mages and rogues? Do oxmen wear hoods?

Look at this photo, this shows that even minor armor sets will differentiate depending on race. So if these pieces significantly change i have no doubt that the least they will do is add holes for horns if they dont change the design entirely.

I'm fairly certain they'll have helmets and hats that allow for horns. Anything less would be kind of lazy.

I predict, like companion armor, helms might adapt to the wearer. Therefore maybe the qunari only get, say, three different helm models, while humans have 22 (or whatever). So each helm might adjust to the qunari, and try to capture the aesthetic of that particular helm with one of the three models. Not ideal, but seems a lot less work than making an additional 22 new helm models for qunari.

The sword on the left looks like Hawkes key for warriors. Who is that? The warden companion? Or maybe Hawke! They ret conned him as a male warrior and he is a companion obviously!!

Joking aside, I wonder if its just a model the artist liked, or if Hawkes Key somehow makes an appearance.

I'd speculate that they are unique to them or hidden by default, I can't see them having normal helmets that make the horns just *poof* disappear.

Yep, I'm sure the horns won't just disappear. Bioware is making such an effort to make armours and such unique to the race/character you're playing, I doubt they'd overlook something so obvious.

That said, I always hide the helmet anyway. I wanna see my Inquisitor after spending so much time in the CC, after all.

Qunari PCs won't be wearing helmets naturally. The player will instead be given a range of unique ribbons to tie up on their horns. It will be fantastic.

This would be my guess too. Why have horns on your head and cover them up? Also, I was under the impression that there were race specific abilities, like a Qunari headbutt???? I could be totally wrong, but if you have horns you might as well use them in that case!

Or perhaps, there are some helmet items like that crown thing the Inquisitor wears in the warroom slide. So Qunari might have decorative head pieces as opposed to full helmet protective ones.
